I was a little tired and slow yesterday. I think I may have overdone it with my hike this weekend. I think that it is good to challenge yourself but sometimes I go over the limit. Both my DH and my dog were kind of out of it yesterday so I think we all pushed our limit this weekend. Learning balance and moderation is a life long lesson for me. I get so enthusiastic I want to keep going, but my body needs time to refresh and regroup. So last night I went to bed early and slept well. Today I will just do my 30 min walk and see how I feel tomorrow. I also didn't eat as many calories over the weekend as I usually do and I lost 2 pounds just over the weekend. Today I was up those 2 pounds. I think my body is giving me a message "Hey, take it easy" I will try to listen.

    You may have over done it but what a beautiful weekend you had to be up in the mountains. Just take it easy and be more careful the next time.

    I think it is good to push ourselves but also know that we have to take it easy the next day. I am sure those 2 lbs will be gone at your weigh in day.

Healthier, Stronger and Happier

I lost another 2 pounds and am thrilled. I am sitting here thinking..."what has been the key to success this time?" I know that Spark People has been elemental but I think an even more important factor has been that I am ready this time. I think when I hurt my back in June and couldn't get up, I got serious. I somehow realized that my life depends on my health (Now isn't that a sage statement? emoticon)

I have never been an active person, but when I started think of a life of total inactivity and being confined by a wheel chair I realized that things were serious. I know that God was with me that day when I read the newspaper article that mentioned Spark People and I signed up and spent the day setting up my page and reading, reading, reading.

Somehow, as I became more active, my depression lifted and I became even more active. The food changes have been slow and careful without an iota of deprivation. This life change is NOT about deprivation ... its about experiencing all that is out there, but in moderation.

I am also happy to know all of you out there are experiencing in your own way the same expansion of your lives as you get healthier, stronger and happier.

  I couldn't agree with you more! The changes I've made since joining Spark People mirror the changes you've made. Spark and all the other people who offer support are responsible for getting me on the right track, but I'm responsible for staying on it!

I Surprised Myself

My DH and I went for a mountain hike with our dog Buck this weekend. I did a whole lot better than I thought I would. We went up a trail called Donner Pass Trail in the Roosevelt Forest. We walked about a mile straight up - It seemed straight up but actually was a rise of 600 feet in one mile. We went from 8400 feet to 9000 feet and then back down. I did it without having to sit and rest at any point. I actually enjoyed it. Wow, exercise for fun and without whining.

Into the 230's

It is so unbelievable to see a number I haven't seen for years. I had long term care insurance denied 4 years ago because I was 243 lbs. I just went up from there. The number really isn't important other than as a sign of health and wellness. I feel so much better at this "number" than I did at the 270 "number". I pray I can at least stay here and not go up, but my fervent hope is that I continue to go down into the 100's.

I have my thyroid biopsy today and feel confident. I just wish I didn't have to go thru the procedure. I don't like people poking around my neck!

    Yay for YOU! I am so proud of you! Making progress every week now, and what is really great is that you are loving your outdoor time which just "snowballs" on itself (good thing, since you're in beautiful Colorado!!!)

I'm happy for you, Daisy. You bring a lot of light to others here on Spark, and today you have managed to light up your own world! Keep on truckin'! Can you imagine where you'll be in one month? 2? 3? Next spring??? You will be in a wonderful place where insurance companies will be asking to have you on their plans!

"Groovin' and Movin"

I tried to put the Leslie Sansone DVD from Exercise TV on this am, but none of the Exercises would come up. A notice said to call the Cable Company, but I have to go to work in 1/2 hour so I decided to put on the Golden Oldie's channel. I just started walking to all the 60's and 70's song from my teenage years. I had a blast. I used all the moves I could remember from Leslie but I began adding the Stroll, the Twist, the Fish ..... you know what I mean? I had fun. Then I thought "This is what the thought for the day today on Spark meant - have fun with it. Life is Good but Life is also Fun!

    never thought about turning on the oldies station. Our cable doesn't have any good fitness stuff on their exercise channel. It is yoga and something else...I forgot. emoticon
