Fall Weekend in the Mountains

Another wonderful Fall weekend in the mountains. The weather was beautiful and so were the colors....once again. I'm getting much better at trekking. I can do it without even thinking about it now. I love it!

Two of the Spark Articles that I read this morning pointed out that just losing 10% of your body weight can affect your health tremendously. One said that losing that much can improve your blood sugar, the other talked about the improvement in your blood pressure. Since I have problems in both areas, my ears perked up. It dawned on me that losing 27 pounds since June 17th is exactly 10 % of my starting body weight.

At my physical my BP was down to 130/80 from 140/90 and my Blood Sugar was 100 down from 112 last year. So, yes indeed, losing 10% of my body weight was great for my health. Also my cholesterol went from 200 last year to 180 this year. I am seeing important results from my efforts.

    I am excited about this too Nancy. I have lost just shy of 24% since my last visit. I go in for bone density and cholesterol next month. I am actually looking forward to going. Can you believe that? emoticon emoticon You are doing so good.

That's what my doctor has told me, too. "Even taking off 10 or 20 pounds will help." I've done that, and gone past it, so I'm looking forward to seeing the look on his face at my next visit!

    That is great, I also have lost a bit more than 10% of my body weight, I have see increased energy and have to hve my numbers checked in a couple weeks. It is great that you see an improvement

I've been pretty active the last couple of days and felt a little achy last night. I woke up very stiff and achy this am. So instead of feeling discouraged, I am just going to listen. I believe my body is telling me to rest today, to take a break. So, I didn't do my DVD this am. I am going to take some ibuprofen and just walk today. I believe that listening to my body is something I never learned and I am going to try to learn that lesson now.

  Amen! My body is telling me today that I totally overdid it on my vacation last week and so, I too, am taking it easy and allowing my body to get back to normal!

    Way to go Nancy... Listening to our bodies is very important. So is walking...that will take care of your exercise for today.
You can also do some GENTLE stretches to work out the kinks.

Stepping Away

Well, I'm working on our town's walking challenge and have increased my steps every day.
Sat - 6739, Sun - 11050, Mon - 11848, Tues - 13076.

I'm going to try the new step part of the fitness tracker but I'm just going to log steps over 10,000 since we are all supposed to get in 10,000 steps a day so I guess that counts as BMR.

I still can't get over how much I am enjoying moving my body. Even my strength exercises are becoming easier if not exactly more fun.

Happy Fall

I am really enjoying the cool fall weather. The colors were beautiful in the mountains this weekend and my hikes were more enjoyable because I wasn't sweating as much. emoticon

Yesterday I walked at 630 am in my local park and I was actually a little cold the whole walk. I need to bundle up more if it stays this cool. emoticon

I exercised with the 30 day Shred - 1. I haven't done it in a couple of weeks I guess and I forgot what a workout it was. Wow! emoticon

I never used to like exercise but now that I am mixing up what I do, I really enjoy it. I don't have a real schedule except that I strength train on MWF. I just get up in the morning and say to myself "What would be fun to do today?" and I do it and it is fun.

    I just love the mountains in the fall, especially when the leaves are changing colors. It is one of the most relaxing seasons for me. Glad you enjoyed your hike.

    I am sure the mountains are beautiful this time of year. Take advantage of it. I have pretty much the same philosophy on the exercise. MWF strength training and everything else is up for grabs as long as I do something. emoticon
