Not your usual pedicure

Thursday, July 01, 2010

Carol's pedicure reward;

Daisy dog's pedicure for the fourth of July:

Abbie cat doesn't have front toenails and Ittel cat decided she didn't want a pedicure.

I hope everyone has a safe, healthy and fun Fourth of July.
Hope those of you from Canada are enjoying your holiday today.

Nature!

Things I'm thankful for today:

The wall of clematis in full bloom

The beautiful lilies

The purple flowers by my mail box that I planted 3 years ago and don't remember the name of

The breeze drying my clothes on the line

The momma wren feeding her babies in the wren house. How tiny those babies must be

Fewer mosquitos today

Big, old trees for shade

Pine trees for beauty

The mourning doves that sit on the rail of my deck (but not the little reminders they leave)

The gold finches that bathe in the puddle in the street from the sump pump hose keeping the river that runs through my basement under control

The young robins that wobble when they fly

Betty Bunnies babies who run around the back yard

A little black dog who lets me think I am alpha dog

Garter snakes who eat bugs and startle me when I least expect them

Fresh lettuce from the garden

The first eggplant of the season

Most of all I'm thankful that I'm able to enjoy these things!

And these I'm sure are just of few of the things you're thankful for! There is so much to be thankful for, isn't there?

Ahhh...thanks for a really wonderful gratitude list! And lettuce and eggplant right out of your garden - THAT got my attention! My late parents used to love to watch the gold finches in back of their home; you couldn't miss 'em :) Tiny rabbits, a sweet little black dog, and mourning doves! I love their calls, and we have lots of them around here. Not only are you able to enjoy all these things, but it's such a delight to read that you appreciate them so much, too :) - Sandi emoticon

Pedicure!

Tuesday, June 29, 2010

I have earned my pedicure!

I've been under 140# 4 out of the past 5 mornings. (My hands and ankles sometimes swell, so I kind of average for a few days to know what I actually weigh!)

Reality Check!

Monday, June 28, 2010

While I was using my step master this morning I realized something! emoticon

I have been accurately tracking my cardio and strength minutes. emoticon

BUUUUUUT, I have not been increasing the challenge. I have only been doing 12 reps of strength instead of 15 and I've been rushing through it. emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

SOOOOOO, I got off the step master and increased the difficulty for the last 25 minutes.

I did 15 reps of each strength movement and slowed it down holding positions longer and increased the weight .

Now, I feel beter about me! emoticon emoticon But it doesn't give me any more Spark Points than before.

    Wow! Way to go!

It's great that you have increased the challenge of your workout. There is a philosophy out there that advocates "cycling" your workouts. For example, one day make your routine a little easier, then next pump it up for a few days, then back down etc. They say it keeps your body from getting to used to doing any one thing. Don't know if it's true but it sounds interesting and might be a good way to avoid boredom. At any rate, as long as we're working out - it's all good!

Great - that is a lot more then I've even done in a month - but wait, I hike around the lakefront this weekend Geocaching and sweated enormous amounts prepping a rummage yesterday - sometime exercise isn't as obvious.

Awesome - and wonderful for you. Keep it up. I sometimes find myself watching the clock and then when the clock got broken, I started to really have fun and time just flys by. Have a great day! emoticon

Day after!

Sunday, June 27, 2010

I thoroughly enjoyed my Pity Party yesterday!

Did my cardio and strength this morning.

After the thunderstorms last evening, the day is clear, not so humid and temperature is nice with a light wind. So, I decided to catch up on some outside work as I promised myself yesterday. I slathered on the bug repellent. Went out and pulled some weeds, sprayed some weeds and was attacked by mosquitoes. I tried to ignore them, but after 10 or 12 bites gave up and came back inside.

Checked the basement. River still running through, but seem to have slowed down some, so will wait a day or so to do laundry.

Threw the frisbee for Daisy dog a couple of times, but again attacked by mosquitoes.

Staying on diet track today.

Started gathering up stuff for 4th camping trip- red, white and blue plates, napkins, cups. Red, white and blue rope light, etc. Starting to get excited about the trip!

So, now I'm back on Spark track!

Wonder how soon I can have another Pity Party?

It's too bad those bugs have to be out in such numbers!!! Hope this week, if the humidity is down like they say it will be, the bugs won't be so bad.
Good job on staying on track!!

Well, you're a real trouper, DAISY! I love your plans for a festive Fourth while camping - wow! What an idea! Life is meant for lots of celebrations. I'm of the mindset that a once-a-month celebratory feast is in the cards for me throughout my Spark journey. What I consume is nothing short of obscene, though it's only for lunch. The minute we leave the buffet, the party's over: all the usual rules go back into play. That's my M.O. for tackling all these pounds, anyway :)

Let's hear it for being on Spark track - yeah!!! - Sandi emoticon
