~~~ 2/15/2008 - Day 6 ~~~
I made it through the whole week of workouts for the most part unscathed. I am definitely sore, but nothing is broken. My eating has been fairly good this week, with the exception of the donut I am going to have after I finish this blog entry! :-o I've earned at least one donut after the past six days. Anyway here is rundown of the last for days:
Shoulders & Arms
I like this day. I was still a little sore from Chest & Back, but all of these exercises were reasonable. My son was a big fan of this one since he didn't get nauseous doing it.
Yoga X
I absolutely HATE this one. I have to get up at 4:15am because of the length, plus it is hard for a 38 year old guy with not a ton of flexibility. I am sure it will get better, but for now, I would much rather any do of the others than this one any day. My son has yoga in school, so this wasn't as bad for him, but he did not like the length either.
Legs & Back
One of my favorites because any of the leg movements are functional. So this routine will transfer nicely to the rugby pitch. My son struggled with the leg portion of this, but made it through.
Kenpo X
This is the perfect way to the week. Nothing strenuous, just a good, heart pumping workout. My son was lagging on this, but I loved it.
I'll do X Stretch tomorrow since it should help me over all, especially with the Yoga X, and then I'm off to week 2. Peace and blessings.
~~~ 2/11/2008 - Day 2 ~~~

So yesterday was the actual beginning for me. I was quite impressed by the workout. And today I can feel that nice next-day soreness fairly evenly distributed from my chest to my back. I could not do many straight pull-ups, so I made use of the chair as needed. However, the soreness in my back tells me I got a good workout. My son was a little shocked to find out you can work out so hard it makes you want to vomit! ;-) He had to stop after chest and back while I continued through the Ab Ripper X. Props to him for going back and doing the Ab Ripper X later in the day though. Today though, plyometrics killed him; he hit the showers about halfway though...the nausea thing again. I'll let him coast this first week, but next week he'll need to tough it out. He did not realize this would be as tough on the mind as it is on the body. My thoughts so far:

Chest & Back
I made it through the full workout, although I should have listened more carefully to Tony when he said to pace your self the first round. I blasted out 40 push-ups for my first set and by the end of the workout I was gassed. I can't wait to drop some weight so the pull-ups are more manageable.

Ab Ripper X
Pain...I paced myself here and was able to complete about half the work. I am sore now, and cannot fathom doing this tomorrow, but I will anyway. Abs are my weak point, so I look forward to being able to get through the whole routine at some point.

Plyometrics
I made it through about 75% of this without missing reps, but then I had to start missing a few reps so I could finish. It's a great cardio program, and I can complain too much since one guy on the video has a prosthetic leg.

Nutrition
Strangely enough, I am having trouble eating enough food. I am supposed to eat 3000 calories a day, but that is nearly impossible. I am going to keep it in the 2500 range the first couple of weeks and see how I progress. If need be, I can always chug an extra protein shake.

Two down, eighty-eight to go! Peace and blessings.
