THE EXTREME DIVA MAKE-OVER CHALLENGE: WK 10 Move that DIVA Bus!

Hey DIVAs,

This has been a fun ten weeks. During the challenge I hope that you have not only had some fun, but have grown to appreciate both the DIVA on the inside and the outside.

Now it's time to "MOVE THAT EXTREME DIVA MAKE-OVER BUS!" emoticon

First, thank you for keeping us focused with this challange. We were created by God to be Diva's. This is something that we let life push to the side or back of our minds.

I lost 6 lbs and I haven't measured yet, but my clothes say some inches as well!!!

The EXTREME DIVA MAKE-OVER CHALLENGE: WK9 The DIVA Wishlist

Hello DIVAs,

Hopefully everyone's week is off to a awesomely productive start. This week's challenge will be simple, yet I hope "lifestyle-changing" as we take a look at the DIVA Wishlist.

On the ABC Program, The Extreme Make-Over Home Edition, have you noticed that while the family's home is being overhauled they are usually sent on a dream vacation? Typically it's a place that they have always dreamed of visiting, but due to their circumstances and just dealing with the everyday events of life they had not been able to previously make that wish become a reality.

This week we're going to put a spin on that dream trip and even the wishlist of what they want their new home to look like.

Is there something that you've dreamed or wished for, but you've held off or procrastinated because you want to wait until you reach your dream weight or size? Well, this week's challenge is for you! emoticon

**THE DIVA WISHLIST**

Then implement one of the six anti-procrastination habit suggestions on page three of that article that you can implement THIS WEEK!

Finally, either blog/journal/or comment on this blog about a WISH that you would like to turn into a REALITY and what steps you will take THIS WEEK to get the ball in motion. Then create a visual indicator to help keep you motivated.

For example, Yours Truly has decided that it's time to turn my WISH of writing a book into a REALITY. I had put this project on the back burner because I'm not at my goal weight... although I have approximately 75% of the manuscript completed.

Well, last weekend I attended a workshop entitled "Write that Book Now" and it set me on fire with enthusiasm! So, with the Good LORD's help I am making serious plans to have the project completed by 2011.

(This picture is my visual indicator to keep me moving...ON TO THE NEXT ONE!)

First of all please accept my sincere apologies for being M.I.A. the past few weeks, but between all of my Birthday Celebrations, my Sorority Sister's Wedding and the general events of life, I have not been able to SPARK as much as I liked or needed.

Secondly, I have decided to extend the challenge for another two weeks (I hope that's okay) and at the end of the challenge I will be awarding the DIVA with the most points from the tracking thread a REAL Spark Goodie that is being hand-made by a good friend of mine who makes a lot of my jewelry.

They said it couldn't be done, but I got 7 pairs of shoes, 3 purses, make-up, snacks and approximately 15 outfits (along w/ matching jewelry) in ONE suitcase for my trip to NYC...this is what I meant about the camel passing through the eye of a needle! LOL!

Hey You!

Happy Belated Birthday!

I wish I knew you were coming to NYC, I live in New Jersey, but I was born in NY and live really close. I have family there and was there over the weekend.

Any who! Glad your back. I'm going to try and do better with posting what I should. I got in 1109 minutes of fitness for the month of May so I am happy about that.

The EXTREME DIVA MAKE-OVER CHALLENGE: WK7 The DIVA Inspection

Hey DIVAs,
It's hard to believe it, but yes we are going into Week 7 of the EXTREME DIVA MAKE-OVER Challenge!!! emoticon

We've been working hard on these beautiful bodies to get them in shape physically, emotionally and spiritually. So this week we'll take the time to perform a DIVA inspection before we MOVE THAT DIVA BUS during Week 8.

During Week 7, as part of our DIVA Inspection we will perform inspections on key areas of our lifestyle habits to ensure that are DIVA buildings are in tact and ready for the un-veiling at the end of this challenge. These areas of inspection will include REST, YOGA and SELF-EXAMINATIONS/ANNUAL SCREENINGS.

**REST**

If God took time to rest it is super critical that we regularly take the needed time to allow our bodies to rest and regroup.

One of the things that most of us DIVAs are guilty of is that we take so much time to attend to the needs of others that we often overlook our own needs and especially our medical needs.

DIVAs! DIVAs! DIVAs!

Now, if you've ever read any of my previous SPARK blogs, you know that it is my practice to use my testimony (a/k/a Life's Experiences) to motivate someone on this complete fitness journey to keep moving ON TO THE NEXT ONE.

Well, the plans for this week's challenge were further enhanced as a result of some of Life's Ups & Downs that I experienced in Weeks 4 & 5.

During Week 4, there were a number of events that I allowed to get me and my SPARK ticker off track. Then during Week 5, I had several heart-to-heart offline conversations with some of my closest SP Friends. As a result of those *talks* I noticed that some of us have been working out way too hard to not see the fruit of our labor reflected on the TICKER or the TAPE. Furthermore, I noticed that for some of us (like yours truly), because we KILL the CARDIO on a weekly basis, we allow strength training to take a back seat and believe that it's okay to eat whatever we want...because we're consistently working out...NONSENSE, and THE FAT DEVIL IS A LIAR!!!

It is also my heart's desire to be a good leader. So last week, I thoroughly followed the instructions that I included in the WK5 Blog. I revisited my BLUEPRINT then journaled about where I was compared to where I want and NEED to be.

With that I prayed and petitioned GOD to give me the STRENGTH to knock down the walls that were impeding my progress, one of which was my KRYPTONITE Wall (which is my inability to eat one serving of ANYTHING sweet) . I am thankful to report, that GOD was faithful and my ticker is the evidence of GOD answering my prayer for help with Nutrition D-I-S-I-C-P-L-I-N-E.

Which brings me to our plans for Week 6 of our EXTREME DIVA MAKE-OVER.

Week 6 is all about STRENGTHENING OUR FRAME both PHYSICALLY & MENTALLY!

**BUILDING THE PHYSICAL FRAME**

Once you've read the article, PLAN three days this week that you will incorporate strength training into your fitness and fat-burning routine. There should be a day for the UPPER BODY, a day for the CORE and a day for the LOWER BODY.

**TEARING DOWN THE MENTAL WALL**
Please read SPARK ARTICLE #2- "Overcoming Overeating: New Strategies to Stop Overeating Before You Start"

After you've read this article, identify at least one mental wall that is affecting your MAKE-OVER, then determine a PLAN to help you tear that mental wall down.

For example, unlike most of my SP Friends, I have no sense or discipline when it comes to moderately eating KRYPTONITE. So FOR ME (because this fits MY BLUEPRINT), I need to eliminate it from my Nutrition Plan...which is not easy. It takes a lot of PRAYER, PLANNING, PARTNERS and POM-POMS to keep me focused.

To break that down:
PRAY= Lots of it and often!
PLANNING= I keep my favorite sugar-free gum nearby to satisfy my cravings and if I eat it, I log it in my Nutrition Tracker (as a matter of fact, I recently revisited some trackers from 2007 to see what I was doing right when the weight and inches seemed to fall off). Last but not least, H20 and I have become even closer friends! ;-)
PARTNERS=I am so blessed to have a support team on and off SP that I can reach out to when support is needed
POM-POMS= I try to be my own personal cheerleader, I continuously remind myself that I can do it and to keep movin' ON TO THE NEXT ONE (no negative self-talk allowed around these parts)! emoticon

    I have been having one thick cement mental wall this week. I know I want to exercise every day, eat healthy, not overeat control my portions, etc. but I can't do it. I am too crabby this week, too tired, I am full of excuses! I hope I can jackhammer this cement mental wall today, I have them all (well most) identified!

    Wow, you are good! I am learning so much from these challenges. I appreciate that each week the focus is not just on weight loss, it's also helping me see that there are many different aspects that go into losing the weight. Identifying mental walls, tearing them down and having a plan to keep us there....that's some good stuff!!

I recently told my mom, I was going to stop visiting...she has too much junk food at her house and I am not STRONG enough to say NO just yet!!! emoticon
