...269 for my Spark Friends and One for Me!!!

For the past two weeks I have really been analyzing both my nutrition and fitness plan. No question my Cardio is on track, but the areas that needed some serious change was strength training and nutrition.

Hence the title of this blog. All 269 of my Spark Friends know how serious I am about getting to my goal weight and of course getting the RED DRESS. The page comments, SP Mails, emails, text messages and phone calls that I REGULARLY receive are really really really appreciated. So with the changes that I've made to my plans along with the encouragement that I have received from my SP Friends, this week I was able to do the happy dance when I had an 8.5 lbs. weight loss.

Out of my 269 Spark Friends, there are a few that I just have to put on blast because they've really been here for me this past week. THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU! You guys are all of that plus tax with change leftover!!!

In no particular order...here it goes:

NEWBEIN for talking me into signing up for the Boot Camp at our gym. Even though I argued with her about how I'm not a morning nor an outdoor person, I now look forward to Tuesday and Thursday mornings just to get to Boot Camp!!! emoticon

DDROSE (my Mama) for encouraging me to change up my page and post a different picture of me when I was over 400 lbs. and to take a look at it anytime I felt discouraged. emoticon

TJOI214 for dragging me out of the house last Saturday to do a walk/run outdoors! emoticon

LOVABLELULU for being a cheerleader and checking on me each day to see how my plan went for the day! emoticon

CLEWIS018 for taking time out of her busy work schedule to meet me at my office for a healthy lunch break! emoticon

MONTANAGAL (a/k/a Ms. Skinnified) for all of the awesome support and helpful tips on taking my strength training routine to the next level!!! emoticon

JANEYJAYE and NOEILAND for inspiring me to be a runner (or at least a jogger...LOL)! emoticon

M3NOMOFAT, LYNNAMIN, DO2HEAL, GOTTHATFIRE, MSQUAN and AUDIE40220 for their constant prayers! emoticon

2008LYNN, COOKIES3201, CHARMAINE45, GIRLINMOTION, MSDIAMOND600,QUEENT5000, KAYEREADER, JAZZID and ISCOTT for their super timely comments and SP Mails emoticon

Last but certainly not least LASVEGASLES...THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU! For being my MCP and reminding me of the importance of having a balanced diet...and that's all I gotta say about that! emoticon

Yes indeed-y, sweety...If I could I would get a RED DRESS for all of my 269 SP Friends (and at least RED SUITS for my SP Male Friends...LOL!) Unfortunately, I don't have it like Ms. O!!!

"As iron sharpens iron, a friend sharpens a friend." Proverbs 27:17 NLT

FYI: Pictured above are my other FRIENDS...even more water, lean meat, fresh fruit and veggies!!!

Of course we are all here for you in one way or another. We're a team and we will get through it easier as a team!

And there's nothing like a slow jog to make you feel powerful and strong. Remember that running/jogging is as much about the mind as it is about the body. If you focus on feeling strong and fast, you will run like the wind. If you focus on pain or fatigue, you will run like a rock.

Power of positive thinking can apply to more aspects of your life. emoticon
Now get out there and reach for your goals and that red dress! emoticon

...and I'm not talking about the weight. On the contrary, according to my weekly weigh-ins I'm gaining?!?!?!?!

Yes, gaining weight even though I'm doing all of the things that are on my SP Streaks. So what's a girl to do?

Well, I had a pretty good well-catered pity party for a couple of hours (which included a few high calorie indulgences)...and now it's time to become even more focused and shake up my program.

Shaking things up will include:

1. Participating in a Boot Camp twice a week at Gym #1 with NEWBEIN beginning 8/12/08 through 9/19/08.

2. Eating even more fruits and vegetables and eliminating meat from at least one meal each day.

3. Seriously watch my sodium intake.

4. Increase my fluid intake.

5. Place more emphasis on the TAPE (measuring tape that is) and less on the TICKER...especially since I'll be taking my strength training regimine to the next level.

And you know after looking at myself in the picture above from yesterday it is evident that I'm LOSING something!!! Even today at work, one of the employees on the production floor said "WHOA look at how skinny you are and your waist is tiny...you look like you're LOSING too much weight." That comment sooooo made my day!

Anyway, I know that I will lose the rest of this weight and I will lose these inches...but I refuse to LOSE my motivation. After all, I've got a date with a RED DRESS in November!!!

Hey there!!! Gaining weight can be frustrating.... ok it is REAL frustrating.... especially when you are doing the "right" things. Tracking sodium is a great help, sometimes you don't realize how much sodium is in processed foods. Just remember since you have increased your exersize you do GAIN muscle and muscle is heavier than fat. The tape and how your clothes fit is a much better measure of how things are going. (At least I think so) Also if you have increased your water intake it takes a while for your body to adjust. I know it's frustrating but try and be patient... lol listen to me... I have been so frustrated about not loosing that I am ready to throw things. But I am still plugging away. That black dress looks great.... the red dress is right around the corner.... Hang in there!!

It is good to re-define & re-affirm what our goals are... knowing where we are, where we want to go and what we have to do to get there, is half the battle, doing it, is the other...You have come a long way... remember the saying .."slow and steady wins the race".... emoticon...You'll get there...

I love your new photo... I know people have told you that you resemble Oprah... When I saw your picture today, I thought I was looking at her!

Having faith and believing in God's will, and your will, is half of the battle. You go girl!!! You can wear that red dress, and the pumps to go with it. I draw my strength and motivation from prayer, and blogs such as yours. It is a daily battle, not to become who we once were, but that new and better version of who we will be in this lifetime.

Deondra, you really do have to watch out for that sodium. It would make a less motivated person give up with what it can do to the scales (I can very 3 pounds over two days?).

Since I have been eating more fruits and veggies I probably have more vegetarian days now than not. I may only have two days with meat/poultry (mostly poultry). I have found this has probably been my key to success.

I look forward to seeing you in the Red Dress.

Hugs, Sonia

    Lady -
You look as sexy as #@ll in this black dress. You have the right attitude. You know the ups and downs of this journey. Plus, it is a definite that muscle weighs more than fat. But, it takes up less space-it's more condensed. I took your advice and increased my exercise. It seems to be working "Now" but you what that means. I also changed my meals a bit. I try to eat my starches early in the day. Also, get some protein in after your workout-like a protein shake or almonds : That makes the metabolism continue working. You've come so far-and you are doing an amazing job. Just keep the faith and stay focused-But there is no need to tell you that.

Much Love!! emoticon

Hey girl. You are so right. Building up the muscle is the key. And good for you for upping the strength training. Like others said on here, you may gain at first, but it will be muscle, and THEN the lean muscle will in turn burn the fat. One thing at a time, one day at a time. Make sure to get in your protein to help repair the muscle w your wt training. I am seeing results in the inches with my strength training. Like I said, who cares if the scales don't show it right away. I'd rather look skinny w healthy muscle.

Love ya sweetie. You're gonna be in that red dress before ya know it!!

What this RED DRESS is doing to me!!!

Friday, July 18, 2008

I have always believed that visual motivators are important, but my goodness...I am literally eating, sleeping, drinking, walking, running and of course dancing with this RED DRESS!

The icing on the fat-free/sugar-free cake (wow, does such a thing exist???) was earlier this week when I found myself in the gym THREE times.

I used part of my lunch break to go to gym #2. I just did a quick 30 minute workout, but while I was on the treadmill I imagined that I was Rippin' the Runway in my RED DRESS.

After work I went back to gym #2 to do a 60 minute endurance spinning class. I selected a bike on the front row next to Lance Armstrong's long lost brother. Well, with me being the competitive person that I am....I pretended that I was racing him to the store to buy my RED DRESS. At the end of the class I looked like a wet rat (LOL)!

So when I went to get in the car, there was my picture of the RED DRESS greeting me (yes, I have pictures of this dress posted in my car, my pantry, on my refrigerator and in my office)....before I knew it I found myself pulling into the parking lot of gym #1...well after all, I did have to pass it on my way home. I just went in to do a little upper body strength training...gotta make sure I'll have sexy shoulders in the RED DRESS.

Have mercy, I don't know when I have been this focused. Yes, I am obsessed with the dress but the reality is that the reward that I'm after is bigger than this dress.

What is this RED DRESS doing to me? It's making me realize how bad I want IT and that I CAN and WILL do IT!

I can drink 8+ glasses of water a day!
I can cook more and not rely on the frozen section of the grocery!
I can eat 5+ fruits and vegetables a day!
I can eat 35 grams of Fiber a day!
I can reduce my sodium intake!
I can stay within my nutrition intake limits!
I can control my sweet tooth!
I can make time for 90+ mins. of Cardio a day!
I can be healthy!
I can be fit!
AND YES I can be under 200 pounds...in my RED DRESS!!!

"Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform [IT] until the day of Jesus Christ..." Philippians 1:6 KJV

MY Vision of Victory...

Thursday, July 03, 2008

...and it is ME in this RED DRESS at my goal weight!!!

I am so thankful that I am regaining my motivation, thanks to SPARK. I decided to go back and seriously study the Spark Diet Lifestyle Stages and I am pumped!!! Although I have had some minor setbacks, I am still in the race...and not only that I AM IN IT TO WIN IT!!!

It may be slow (that's why I changed my ticker icon to a turtle--), but I know that I will be victorious and hit my final weight goal in 20 Weeks (which is the week before Thanksgiving). And when that great day in November comes, my reward to myself will be this RED DRESS!

So when I am tempted to not work out the way I should or go on an eating frenzy or not drink my water, I will VISUALIZE this RED DRESS and fight towards VICTORY!!!

In my eyes your already there, I have seen you in the infomercial, and your pictures on your SparkPage. You have such an exuberant, confident way about you that I love and admire and will always be a winner to all of us.

Remember, the turtle may be slow, but he kept a steady course and won the race.

Hugs, Sonia

I with Lynn, post this on the fridge, your bathroom mirror, your front door, on your car dashboard. etc. It's a beautiful dress and it's gonna look so great on you this Fall!!!

You have been my inspiration - because I know that you have already succeeded. Now take that knowledge and reach your goal with all of us behind you pushing you at every step! YOU GO, DEONDRA!

I love the fact that when motivation is needed, it is somewhere on this site. Do you have this photo posted in your house, at your desk, in your purse?
