One COOL Mama

Thursday, June 26, 2008

I am so fortunate to not only have an awesome Mother, but a good friend and just ONE COOL MAMA.

What's funny is that it seems like the older I get the closer we become. Not only does she give me sound advice and direction (even when I don't ask for it), but she constantly motivates me to become the best me that I can be.

What makes her sooooo COOL?

1. She IMs me during the day keeping me updated with the clearance sales for all of our favorite online clothing stores.

2. She frequently teases me that she is now on broadband and I'm still on dial-up.

3. So far for the month of June she is SMOKING me on every single Fitness Report at the Y. Including TOTAL CALORIES BURNED...she is ranked #1 and I'm #16.

4. She's always willing to be "my date" at company outings.

5. No one gets more excited than Mama when the infommercial that I'm in comes on the air (then again, my Grandmother may have her beat...LOL).

6. When I am tempted to get too lax with my nutrition or fitness, she's the first one on my case.

7. Last but not least, she prays for me without ceasing.

Pictured above is a collage of Mama and I since July of last year, in the past two years she has lost well over 80 lbs. , five dress sizes and I don't know how many inches. And let's not talk about all of my clothes that she has been more than happy to take off my hands (Smile).

She has done so well with her lifestyle change...no doubt she is ONE COOL MAMA!

Working my Plan!!!

Tuesday, May 27, 2008

I officially weighed in at 240.6 lbs. this morning, but I am CONFIDENT that this is only temporary.

And why am I so confident? Because I have a plan and am working it.

1. I met TJOI214 at the Y around 5:30-ish this morning and had an awesome 45 min. Cardio workout

2. I have two workouts scheduled for later today...another Cardio workout at "that other gym" and a Core Rhythms workout before going to bed.

3. I have planned my meals for the day and am sticking to my plan

4. Anytime, I'm tempted to stray away from the plan, I remind myself of how uncomfortable I felt in the outfit on my profile picture

5. I keep reminding myself to take everything one decision at a time

    D,
I have been away for a while. I've been eating and not exercising as much as I should... gaining and losing the same pounds over and over again. I know that I can do it and you can do it. We know God! Hang in there. Keep me lifted up in prayer and I'll do the same for you.

God bless,
Marilyn

Girl, you better look in that mirror and smile and remember that God is on your side. I see you wrote the vision and made it plan. Don't over do cardio either and eat right. Yep, I'm playing mama now. You will get there when you are supposed to. So I am praying for you and don't ever lose hope your help cometh from the Lord and He is right there with you NOW.
Blessings!

When A Motivator needs Motivation

Friday, May 23, 2008

The past few weeks have been super hard for me both emotionally and physically. The passing of my best friend, then my paternal grandmother, followed by a huge Reduction in Force at work.

Sooooo I haven't felt like consistently planning meals or working out or even Sparking. All of the emotional eating has officially caught up with me AND I have gained a total of 10 lbs.

What should a Motivator do when she needs Motivation?

First of all, I refuse to trip out about it and go ahead and update my ticker (Done!). I know what needs to be done and I need to just GET 'ER DONE.

Second, this coming Monday, I will be 37 years old. My gift to myself will be to get back on track. Which begins with returning to the basics of SPARKING (I sooooo need the support) and all of the other DAILY stuff that i need to do to help me reach my goal (i.e. 10 C. Water/ 2 C. Green Tea/Lots of Veggies and Fruits/90 mins. of Cardio/45 mins. strength training and going back to giving up sweets).

Third, I'll start back on a modified version of Body for Life (mostly to stay on track with my strength training).

Last but not least...now more than ever I've really got to lean and depend on God for strength.

"The LORD will give strength unto his people; the LORD will bless his people with peace." Psalm 29:11

Who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able: but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it." -- 1 Corinthians 10:13

Sorry about the loss of your grandparent...it's been an emotional month for you, hasn't it?

Oh, and happy belated b-day girl!

Love you muchly!

    Hi Dance,

My prayers are with you and the family. I know how things can be when you loose someone that you love so dearly. Just know that we are praying for you. I recently gained six pounds but for my 37th birthday I decided that I would loose them and get on course as I should. This was my gift to myself. So I wanted to encourage you to stay prayerful and keep blogging because this is what helped me (You helped me). emoticon

On another note, I too am starting over. I was away for a couple of months and hated to turn up that tickler. Once I did reality set and I was released from that demon telling me it was okay to eat up everything under the sun. We already know what to do...so LET'S DO THIS GIRL!

A Tribute to My Best Friend in the Whole Wide World

This past Wednesday, my best friend went home to be with the Lord. After battling breast cancer for almost four years, she finally won.
