To my fellow job traveling Sparkers

Well, I started my regular routine this week. The area of my life that was the most challenging regarding my healthy choices & exercising commitments is my job. I travel for a living. This was my first week back after the holiday break.
On the morning of my flight, I got up at 2:45 a.m., had my coffee & hit the treadmill for a little over an hour. By the time I had to head to the airport, I had put 5 miles of exercise behind me. I have been maintaining that pace since Dec 28th. Even did strength exercises that morning.
For my trip, I brought my new mini ipad with the full intention of, at least, doing strength training in my hotel room via Spark videos. I knew I would not have time for any cardio activity due to my schedule.
I THOUGHT I would be able to make healthy food choices even though I was entertaining new clients for dinner the first night.
Well, that was a total failure.
But, I am not giving up!!!!! I know I may have to make concessions to maintain my life plan while meeting my employment obligations. And, over time, I will figure out what best works for my situation.
But, I would like to know what has worked for my fellow traveling Sparkers.
How have you made it work for you? What have been your challenges?

    It sounds like you have a good start. When I travel I put my bags in a locker or carry them and walk like a madwomen until my flight time. I find it fairly easy to get my exercise in when traveling by choosing hotel's with fitness areas. Like you, my bigger struggle is food choices. I usually travel with some healthy choices for breakfast and lunch. If I have client meetings I try to remember that this is not the same as going out for a dinner with friends. This is work, therefore, I am not buying the food myself and I don't have to justify ordering something I love. Instead I try to order something appropriate to my goals. I don't always succeed but I am more successful then when I fly without a plan. Good luck! emoticon

2 1/2 wks in & energy level is up

Loving the early morning workouts. Gives me energy all day long. Started the 10 min workout a day challenge to encourage the habit of working out. Also 2 wks into the January Challenge. I have been hitting the treadmill for 2 1/2 wks now (1 hr).
Last hurdle is my wine!!!

My morning coffee & SparkPeople. Can't think of a better way to get motivated prior to my treadmill workout.
11 days in an feeling fabulous! Exercise & proper eating kicking in.

    Not a big coffee fan (can you believe I don't drink caffeine? :P) but definitely am addiction to Spark! Have fun on that run :)

    Enjoy! I love my morning coffee too and usually have at least two. I am 6 months on the SP way of life and still enjoy it.

I am getting ready for 1/1/13 & the restart of a healthier me. Instead of sleeping in, I am committed to getting up early & spending time on the treadmill. Instead of eating "whatever", I am committed to tracking all food & wine. Wish me luck!
