Yesterday, Friday, August 19, 2011 I got a chance to drive my son's '85 Chevy around the neighborhood before I went to work. It was so fun. The looks, the stares, the double-takes, Oh My!!! It was a head rush. I will get a chance to drive again today before punching the clock. As I watched the local news this morning I heard the newscaster say they are expecting 1.5 million people on Woodward Avenue today. I will be one in 1.5 million. Woo Hoo!!! Toot, Toot!!!

I noticed that some of my summer dresses aren't fitting me properly. My girls are shrinking! My slacks are sagging around the waist. I went to the doctor yesterday and I was down seven pounds since my last visit. I simply had been moving my bra snaps to the next level and started wearing belts again. I drink plenty of water and crystal light.

Crystal Light Mocktails

I was looking through my Essence magazine and ran across an advertisement for Crystal Light Mocktails. I am not a drinker but I would really like to try these mocktails. The featured flavors are Martini, Mojito and Appletini. I have been to Wal-mart, Target and Meijer's searching for them. I can't find them anywhere and they are for a limited time only.

I am adjusting to the new schedule. This past week I had to work a different shift. My shift will be changed many times over the next month. I must work all three shifts until I am officially placed on a permanent schedule. I have to get into the new routine. I have been able to save some money on this other shift because I took my own lunch instead of depending on the restaurant/cafe food at work.

I was able to catch up some bills this weekend. I must reevaluate my spending plan and curb my appetite to shop for what I want and start saving and spending for what I need. It has been some years since I had to make so many cutbacks. I need to do so now more than ever with this new job.

I was able to enjoy my backyard yesterday. It was a beautiful day. I had the opportunity to just sit back and take in the beautiful flowers, plants, trees and even heard the animals running and flying around in their natural habitat. I could have done without seeing the groundhog running along the back fence. Any ideas on discouraging groundhogs from coming into my yard? I have no wood piles or mulch in my yard. I noticed that seems to appeal to them in the past.

Today begins a new work week. I have my lunch prepared. I will be having a turkey sandwich, pineapple planks and a small tossed salad with balsamic vingerette. I will be having carrots and grapes as my filler snacks and plenty of water to drink.

Spa-cation @ Work???

Today I took a mini-tour of my new job. OMG they don't want us to go home! I was excited about eating lunch on the patio last week. I have heard many coworkers talk about the perks of working here, but what I saw today convinced me that I am truly blessed to work here. They have an on-site fitness center that offers yoga, zumba, massages, sauna, a jacuzzi and that is just the surface. Employees get a discounted rate for all services. There is a hair salon, several gift shops, an atrium and a pond view. The restaurant (not cafeteria) serves healthy food choices. There is even a place to get manicures and pedicures. I plan on rewarding myself with a spa-cation package after my initial thirty days.

My children say I'm spoiled. They haven't seen anything yet. I plan on having a health consultation. I want to figure out a healthy plan so I can live my best life starting today. I would like to make a commitment to change my life for the better. I need to develop a full body plan. I want to eat better, exercise more and look good while doing it. The consultation is free. I plan on incorporating it with my Sparkpeople lifestyle. Once I get my schedule, I will know how to work my plan.
