New Job!!!

Thursday, June 02, 2011

I began my new job on Tuesday!!! I'm learning lots of new stuff and adjusting quite well. I'm in training and learning from three people thus far. I guess I'm fortunate to get three variations of the same job. It's strange how nobody does the same task the exact same way. Sure, the job gets done, but I literally have to separate the good from the bad. I begin off-site corporate training next week. I will either be very smart or have to unlearn lots of bad habits.

The hardest part of the whole job thus far is figuring out what to wear. After wearing scrubs for the last two years I have to actually contemplate what to wear each day. I never thought I would say this, but boy, do I miss my scrubs! Besides, all my clothes prior to scrubs fit funny. They are either too big, baggy, or the wrong color. I must wear blue or black.

How excellent for you! So you did find your next journey. So glad for you... yeah, I would love a job wearing scrubs, but since I want nothing to do with the medical field, lol, it's not to be. However, I do keep up with my own type of uniform that fits my body well. I wear a simple black, A-line, knee length skirt every day, with a different top, different accessories and occasionally different shoes. It keeps things simple with allowing me to save money, lose weight without stress about what to wear as all a skirt does is hang low when you lose weight, and then it allows me to still look professional at the job. Everyone wins! lol...

A Busy Week Ahead

Sunday, May 15, 2011

Friday morning started off with me telling my current employer that I was giving my two week notice. I decided against putting it in writing. I just told her flat out. It was a growth opportunity and a learning experience, not a pleasant working situation. I will be working at a local hospital where I can grow and be the best CC I can be. I will have to learn a lot on the new job, but it will be more than worth it in the long run.

I attended a Women's Conference at a local sister church this weekend. I learned so much. It was all about women (sisters) mentoring each other. I purchased some great books and met some wonderful women. I networked and may have a few ladies lined up to speak in the future.

I have to take my drug test and do lots of paperwork this week for my new job. I have officially accepted the position. I'm registered for my orientation classes and must take my on-line pre-test. I will be very busy this week. My doctor posted my (current) job on Craigslist and applicants began calling and responding immediately. I suppose I will be training my replacement as early as the end of the week or early next week. I am also doing a candy buffet for a wedding and must organize and get the display together. I will be drinking plenty of water and eating my freggies this week.

A Change For The Better

Friday, May 13, 2011

It's so hard to say goodbye! I have had a very challenging year thus far. One year ago, I was stressing over where I would intern at. I successfully completed my internship and have since graduated. I secured a position in a chiropractor's office. It is now time to move on to greater possibilities. I have accepted a job at a hospital as a unit clerk. I'm excited for the change.

Busy, Busy Weekend

Tuesday, May 10, 2011

I had a blessed Mother's Day this past weekend. My children (adults) bought me a Kindle. They have a plan to get me to stop buying books. I have too many books in my house. I received a pretty yellow dress. I received tulips in yellow and iolet. I went to a play on Saturday night and to the movies on Sunday afternoon. I took my sister and my niece out to dinner. In the midst of all that, I went to church Sunday morning and completed a telephone interview for a new job I am considering.

Missing Daddy

Friday, May 06, 2011

Today would have been my daddy's 92nd earth day. Unfortunately, dad passed away in 1992. I miss him so much. I'm just glad that both my children have pleasant memories of "pa-pa". My dad was the greatest. I miss his phone calls and visits. We used to sit and have coffee and conversation every morning. He had a huge vegetable garden and many mornings and early evenings you could find daddy in the garden weeding, watering or picking his vegetables. Many times he would just give them away to the neighbors. He loved his garden.

After daddy went to heaven, I decided to grow plants. He loved tulips. Every year on his birthday, at least one yellow tulip is in my front yard. All this week, I have noticed red tulips. I'm anxiously waiting going outside to see if my yellow tulip is there. I noticed at work that a yellow tulip was outside the door at my place of employment. As I enter and exit the job daily it's comforting to see a little bit of daddy there. I decided to stop by the florist sometime today and buy myself some tulips (yellow of course).

Happy birthday daddy! Gone, but never forgotten!

My dad has passed too. We had the best relationship. He used to call everyday just to see what was going on with me. Boy, do I miss that! Now it seems that when someone call it is always for something...can you do this or that. My dad and I used to do a lot of dancing and singing. He did not know the real words to any songs:-). Everytime I hear Luther's Dance with my Father, I cry like a baby. My dad was such a gentleman. He showed me how a man is suppose to treat a woman. I could go on forever but I won't. I miss my dad too! Today is my mother's birthday. You have an awesome day and enjoy your yellow tulips!
