Planning For The Week Ahead

Sunday, October 17, 2010

Today I cut up veggies and froze them for future use. I pre-cooked meals for the week. I portioned off my meals so I just have to grab and go this week. I will have enough for dinner after a long day's work. It's all about preparation.

The new job is going great and I'm learning lots of new things. I must get used to working six days. I plan on creating my own office manual, as the company doesn't have a specific one for my job. I have to learn scripts this week.

Persistence Pays Off

Thursday, October 07, 2010

emoticon

Persistence really does pay off. This past year I learned that anything I give my full attention to gets completed. I went back to school September 2009 to re-invent myself career-wise. I completed all my courses and now I am an alumni. I walked across the stage on my birthday three and one half weeks ago.

I actively searched the web and completed many an on-line application. I submitted many resumes and wrote many cover letters. Yesterday I accepted a job. Monday I will begin working for a Dr. I will be one of her assistants. I'm here to tell you, my Spark family that anything you set out to do can be done. Now it's time to fully apply this to my health.

Congrats.... I went back to see what you took. Medical Sec ??
I am at present out of work because of knee surgery and other health issues that stop me from doing my former job of long term caregiver full time. I may be able to get training and am thinking of med. sec. I took that years ago '75-76 in university. I don't see a huge call for it here, but if I take that I can still do reg. secretarial too.
Congrats and you will do great.
I read the blog cos yesterday I could barely walk with pain and now today the rain has come and my pain is less.
Thanks for reminding me that I can do and will do great things.
HUGS

Pain, Pain, Go Away!

Wednesday, September 29, 2010

I woke up at 4:30 this morning in severe pain. I was in so much pain that I went to the hospital emergency room. That was a big thing for me. I try to avoid doctors and hospitals. I still can't believe I went to school to be a medical secretary (administrative assistant). Anyway, after checking in I received a heavy dose of medicine to mask the pain. I had to text my daughter to drive me home. I'm still hurting but not as much. I will be better in a few days. My daughter took my car so I wouldn't try to drive anywhere. I will be resting against my will for a few days. Maybe I will be able to read a little. I'm reading The Shack by Wm. Paul Young. It's a great book.

emoticon Keeping you in my prayers that you are feeling better soon.

I read The Shack last year, and I enjoyed it too. I want to reread it one day though, I think it's one of those books that you have read more than once to get the most out of it.

Maximizing My Moments Each Day

Wednesday, September 22, 2010

My birthday has come and gone. Graduation is over. I'm job hunting actively. This is another full-time committment. I get up early and check the career sites to get the new postings. I send resumes and cover letters via US and e-mail daily. My goal was a minimum of one daily. I usually post 3-5 daily. I am networking with almost everybody in my circle. I didn't realize how many clothes I have in my wardrobe. I wore scrubs for the last year while attending school and prior to that for 15 years in the factory.

I have been eating better and getting in a little more activity into my day. I need to begin tracking my food and exercise. It is such a chore. I have been cooking at home more. It's much more healthy than eating fast food all the time.

I know I can do more than I am currently doing. I am doing a lot. My problem is that now that I'm not working or going to school full-time, people think I'm available to them. My daughter feels I should be her shopping buddy and her personal errand runner. My friends believe I should be ready to hang out and go when they say go. If I had my way, I would be in my perfect little world reading and doing my thang. I would be travelling across the globe. I would be enjoying my yard while at home. I would be doing me. It is time for me to maximize my moments each and every day.

Double Blessings

Friday, September 10, 2010

He has carried me through it all. Sunday marks my graduation and my birthday. I have worked so hard to reach this point. I have studied many a late night hour, missed family events, missed special days, passed up on books and movies all to reach this point and time. I get to walk across the stage and receive that diploma. It is also grandparent's day. I will be walking for my the generations that came before me that afforded me this opportunity. My grandparents and my parents will be watching me (from Heaven). My children will be in the audience as they watch momma set the pace for them and show them that it's never too late to get an education. As I turn another year older, I am teaching them the greatest lesson of all time. Never quit, never give up! I graduated high school, college and now the school of Allied Health. You can take many things from a person, but never the education they have attained.
