S-N-O-W!!!!!!

Tuesday, November 25, 2014

Woke up to another 3 inches of snow on the ground; and it kept on snowing all day. My husband got the tractor out and went over my trail around the acreage for me today so that Yukon and I can keep up with our daily walks. It's kind of fun walking around while the snow falls. Looks like we're in even more of the white stuff in the next couple of days. At least I can burn more calories while shoveling!!
Yay winter!!

Great weather for walking

Monday, November 17, 2014

The temperature has risen closer to 0C (32F) the last few days, so Yukon and I have been out at least once and sometimes twice a day to walk around the acreage. Today we logged nearly 2 miles!
And I've managed to lose another 2 lbs!!!! Yippee!

F-R-E-E-Z-I-N-G!!!!!

Woke up this morning to a temperature of -23C (which is about 8 below F)!!!! I put Yukon's winter coat on, bundled myself up and out we went. Stayed out for about 10 minutes before my face started to freeze. LOL. Didn't seem to bother Yukon at all but then he's got a thick coat of fur.
The silver lining is....it's a beautiful sunny day and the hoar frost on the trees is stunning. AND it's supposed to "warm" up to a balmy -14C this afternoon (which is about 6 above F). Yippee!!! LOL

Lasagna!!!!

Saturday, November 08, 2014

I made some lasagna for dinner, using low-fat cheese, no salt, and lean ground beef. It was so good that I ate 2 portions; but it was worth it. I still made my nutrition and fitness goals. It's not something I do every day; just a once in awhile treat.

Back to Spark

Friday, November 07, 2014

It's been three years since I last blogged and a lot has happened during that time. I lost two family members as well as my little buddy Tip. All are loved, mourned and remembered still.
On the brighter side, I have a new four-footed friend named Yukon, who we rescued from the local animal shelter. He's a five-year old springer spaniel cross with a few minor health issues (nothing I can't handle though); and he's very active. We go out for walks at least twice a day (I walk, he runs!)
On my last visit to my doctor, I was informed that I had a fatty liver and had better look after it or else. He doesn't mince words. Now, every morning I start my day with a cup of hot water and three teaspoons of lemon juice; this helps cleanse my liver and get rid of the fat deposits. Of course I've had to change my eating habits (which have become less than ideal the past three years). None the less, during my hiatus from Spark, I've managed to keep my original weight loss in tact and have also lost another two pounds. And I've also become more active, which helps immensely.
I read an article recently which helped me determine what body type I have and how to eat properly according to my type. I'm an apple which means I carry all my excess weight around my middle and have a sweet tooth (who doesn't??!!). In order to speed up my metabolism I should cut down my carb intake to 25% of my daily calories and eat more proteins and fruits and veggies. So far it seems to be working for me.
Glad to be back!!!!
