New method for sorting the daily mail!

I bought a wall mount wire rack similar to this one. this one is from the container store. But the one I got is a little more decorative and I found it at Marshalls in the decorations dept.



Top-bills
Second-stuff having dire consequences like insurance, medical, banking, etc. but not bills
Third- coupons, money saving possibilities
Fourth-is the trash can.
Fifth- magazines go in the living room under a (large square) cocktail table.
I need to see the mail in order to deal with it. Other methods I tried did not work for me. Anything filed in a drawer-- were rarely see again, ever.
sixth -current ongoing but recent projects I am working on are in separate 'magazine' holders labeled clearly.

Before:
I tried two box method. Large labels saying BILLS and the other saying IMPORTANT but not bills.Both boxes are jammed full now. This method helped me the most so far, At least I had only 2 places to look.

In addition were 6 transparent stacking trays on the desk . I labeled each tray. I thought it would work, but it is now the stacked trays are full and the stuff just sits there.


I think the wall mount rack will help me the most.

    I hope it works out for you....I have tried everything and in the end it all gets thrown into a box until I get to it. My accountant hates me at the end of the year. She complains all the time about me being so dis=organized. She doesn't see how I can do things...but I do so...OH WELL.

I have spent more money on files and labels and organizers than anyone I know. Hehehe...waste of money in the end.

    Good Idea. I have something similar. When I was getting all the house mail, I used it. Now that hubby gets it, he just takes care of it and neat man that he is, it's organized on his desk.

    Sounds like a plan that will work! I try to place all the bills in one spot when they come and have folders in baskets for everything else. However, sometimes it takes me awhile to get everything in the right folders.

    I'm not saying I do this, but I have friends who sit down and pay bills the day they come in. I don't have much in the way of incoming bills, just phone and electricity, but I do mine on bill pay on the internet. All my bills are listed with their addresses. I sit down for 5 min. and they are all paid, no postage, no envelopes, no fuss. Another possibility is automatic withdrawal. I still have stuff piled all over because I don't take care of it immediately. Hope your system works for you. emoticon

    I got a Filing cabinet Where the important mail goes in The paid bills in order The tax returns and medical records.Your idea is good for all incoming mail each in its proper place except for important .That should be put away right away.

    The system helps, though remember that organizing it doesn't get it done - you still need to go through it on a regular basis. Have you tried setting aside an hour a week (or more) specifically scheduled for working on mail? You could even set aside a half hour 3-4 days a week and each day work on something else - bills, important paperwork, coupons, etc. That way you know that at 2pm on Monday you'll be spending a half hour working on bills (or whatever you choose). If you miss the time then forgo something else (like time reading a magazine) to work on what you missed. It's so much easier to get things done when you do it in small portions and not let it get out of hand.

    I am guessing that it is your goal to keep the bins empty? Or, how do you store the medical/bank/etc. stuff when you are done filing claims, balancing the checkbook, or whatever? I make a file for each major subject per year & stuff the 'closed' issue's documents in there in case I need to locate them later.

Exercising to reduce inflammation is all about getting your heart rate up for 30 minutes, 5 days a week! Start at 50-75% of your maximum heart rate. Increase to 70% - 85% as you get in shape. Choose activities you enjoy...just get that heart pumping!


I knew exercise was important, but I honestly did not know it could reduce inflammation.

Daily Visualization

Imagine that you're out to dinner and you order one of the healthiest options on the menu instead of your usual order. How does it make you feel to have made the healthier choice? Think of that feeling if you have to face tough food choices today.

I am not sure why I chose to start the Spark Coach right now. I am doing all the wrong things! I have been 'good' for several months now. Using Dr. Fuhrman's eat for Health plan which is a plant based eating plan. It is meant to actually heal the body, not just lose weight.

Maybe when i ordered the Wendy's strawberry shortcake parfait, I should have imagined Dr. Fuhrman sitting in the car with me. I went to a local park and watched the ducks while I ate. and yesterday from the Chinese place, I ordered my steamed vegetables but today 'got into' the leftover sticky General Soa's chicken and the pork fried rice. I had some last night too after my husband went to bed. emoticon

Fuhrman says we will learn to love the new, healthy eating style and prefer these much healthier meals.

Maybe I am rebelling. I don't know. Fuhrman's plan made me more successful than anything else I tried. I lost my food cravings. I wasn't hungry and if I was, a normal portion of a plant-based meal would do the trick.

What I am eating right now is very salty and sticky and sweet! Probably a nice big plate of a vegetarian meal would taste better. I will sit here and imagine myself eating that.

    It's actually typical to have these swings when you try to do plans like this cold turkey. Research shows that people have more success weaning themselves off rich foods over time while incorporating more fresh foods as well. It probably takes a couple of years for the transistion to become more solid. And plans that don't allow for partaking at social events also tend be abandoned within the 2-year span. Personally, unless you have a serious health condition that demands it, I think you can't spend your life bringing your own food to events or foregoing everythign that's there, especially if you like the food! The alternative is to force yourself to learn to eat smaller amounts. Not easy but it has shown more long term success. Processed foods make you want more, but they can't jump into your mouth on their own. Don't give up learning this skill.

    I know for me I wouldn't be able to eat mainly a plant based meal , but if it works for you --hey what ever does the job. I choose to eat what I like and smaller portions, that way I don't crave what I would want. Remember though that eating something different some time isn't the worst, you can start over tomorrow and not have to feel guilty.

    I am having a very hard time sticking to "clean eating". My grandson snacks all day, and I resisted for months and now...I am not doing very well. The scale proves it. We will move past this, but we have to keep trying and not let our moments of weakness derail all of our good efforts.

    I find I just have to look at my weight loss journey as a job. It's the only way it works for me--I am so driven. I know, I need to take time and smell the roses, but that's just not me.
Everyone once in a while those, those darned Milky Ways or potato chips get in my way. So........I take them out of the equation by saying they will cause me to do my job less well, so I don't eat them!

    Don't be afraid to do what works! Sometimes I drift away too, even though I know what works and have evidence to prove it! Why is that?

    Making an instantaneous and drastic change will cause your body to react and throw a temper tantrum. The body likes consistency, so changes are supposed to be made slowly over time. Making fast changes can be stuck to for a short time, then the body physically reacts and tells you it wants what it used to have.

    I went to a potluck luau yesterday. I could have just planned to not eat, but to visit and eat at home. But no, I ate at the potluck. There were lots of vegetable and pineapple dishes and rice, but most contained meat. I ate them, and the jello salads, and the dessertS, but would have felt better if I'd planned better. I'm not strong enough to eat at a thing like that and not eat it all. So I'll know better in the future. I have no problem going out to eat with someone and just having a diet soda. Because I know I have my food, which I enjoy, at home. emoticon

    Hi Chris I can certainly relate to this .. We need to choose something we like and have a half serve !! .
Then fill up on fresh fruit and veggies .. this will satisfy us much better and make it easier to stick to eating within our calorie requirements!!.

We can do this my friend ... its not easy and Rome wasn't built in a day .. but each day we choose to eat clean is a bonus and we will feel the pride within ourselves that will encourage us to continue on this so important journey to fitness and health ..

    well, I read that today and I don't believe that what i envisioned was what they were looking for.

I envisioned that I had a salad (very nice and appealing) in front of me and that my companion (who I assume was David) had a nice juicy filet mignon.

So, if you can relate, I felt like I was depriving myself.

That is not the feeling that I need to recall when faced with a tough food choice. As a result I shifted my focus immediately before I could harm myself and feel deprived for the rest of the day.

    It's not so much that you have to get the good stuff, if you force yourself into it, what good will it do when you want something else? Eat healthy, but choose something you like as well. If you like it AND it is good for you, you may not want to rebel and run for the tempting but bad choices as much.

In his Presidential Proclamation (August 19, 1988), President Ronald Reagan said "For all they have achieved throughout life and for all they continue to accomplish, we owe older citizens our thanks and a heartfelt salute. We can best demonstrate our gratitude and esteem by making sure that our communities are good places in which to mature and grow older."

On National Senior Citizens Day, we should:

Spend some time with senior citizens
Show our appreciation for senior citizens
Do volunteer work in support of the elderly
If you are a senior citizen, enjoy your day any way you desire. After all, this is your day! Make sure to take advantage of senior citizens specials and discounts. There's bound to be plenty offers today.

    Thanks for sharing I am 55 and my mom is 96; and she has dementia. She is slipping away since she was moved to assisted living this year. I am glad there is a day to honor senior citizens.

    I am caring for my 85 yr old mother, who has dementia. It's hard to stay positive. Any time with her is work. I have to remember this could be me someday.
