Nearly one month

Very close to one month in the sweet tooth challenge. It hasn't been excruciating but I miss the fruit. I'm not comfortable with the fact that I'm eating more, but at the same time I haven't put on or lost weight for the 2nd week in a row and it's a relief. Still 2kg away from my goal weight.

This week I have a night outing and on Friday I'm going away for 3 days to the Byron Bay Writers Festival. I'm taking sugarless snacks to survive, I've done it before. The challenge is to keep the sodium low.

My sciatica has improved with specific exercises but I'm still not well, I feel more confident that I will be able to sit through the festival, I was worried that I wouldn't' be able.

My external accountability group is going well, it'd be more difficult without it.
Life is good.

    I'm glad you're feeling a little better. The Conference sounds like something that I would love going to. I hope you have a cushion of some sorts to sit on that you can bring with you. I had one for years that I made in Girl Scouts that I absolutely loved. It fell apart and I haven't replaced it. Maybe it's time I do.

3rd week without sugar

Very happy about it.
This week I didn't lose or gain and that's fine.

I formed an accountability group with people that are not from Sparkpeople. I never managed anyone that wanted to join here. This is through a sugar addiction forum. We are 3 and that's more than enough!
Life is good.

Lost some

I lost 600gr this week, and very happy. I made an effort to eat less and it was difficult considering that it's only been 12 days without sugar and I still feel withdrawal symptoms.
It's been an exhausting week with end of financial year and issues with our ex accountant, added to that the fourth week of a sciatic attack that is not responding well to any treatment. Yesterday at Pilates they gave me "sciatic stretches" and I improved a bit, will persevere.
Very much looking forward to next week we're going to see a doco of the 150th anniversary exhibition in Oslo of the Norwegian painter Munch,at Byron Bay and on Wednesday Warhorse at the theatre in Brisbane. I love puppets.

Not long now for the Byron Bay Writers Festival:3 days of literature and joy.

Life is good especially without sugar.

No loss, no gain

This week I weighed the same in spite of the fact that I ate a lot more due to sugar cravings, 6 days off sugar now and very pleased about it.
Just a little edgy and irritable, but i know due to previous experience, that it takes a couple of weeks to calm down. The most difficult as usual is no fruit. Its sweetness is a trigger for me. In a couple of months I will be able to eat low fructose fruit.
Something I would really like is to stop eating when I'm full, I feel full but it's hard to stop especially at dinner time. It's always been like that.
At least i'm not feeding sugar to my gut bacteria, they must be very cranky.

Anyone for quitting sugar?

To those who know me, this won't be news, after quitting sugar 3 years ago and maintaining it for more than a year, the sugar started creeping up until this week when it's made me sufficiently unhappy to make the decision to quit again. I started my new plan this morning, and I'm looking for a spark buddy to share this experience.
I'm posting this in various forums to see if I get lucky.

    Oh Claudia, good for you. I'm not ready to leave sugar behind altogether, though I may eventually get there. Hope you find a faithful buddy who is just as determined as you are! You can do this!

    Hi Claudia, I remember how good you felt when you Quit Sugar ..
I don't have added Sugar and choose to avoid it in foods if I can .. I eat mainly raw.
My daughter Helen has chosen to avoid sugar too,
She has lost 6 kilos by doing so . She had a extremely fatty liver and her kidney function was way down ..
Her Specialist told her she would lose her life if she didn't stop eating sugary foods
Last time she had a kidney function and liver text, she was back in the normal range .. It took her 6 months but she did it .. So very proud of her ...

    I am think your goal is great but I have found I do better with allowing myself occasional treats including poisons like sugar - helps me avoid it most of the time when I KNOW I CAN HAVE IT IF I CHOOSE. Hope you find a buddy.

    emoticon I hope that you find someone. With my Gastroparesis I am so limited in what I can eat that I am not cutting anything extra. I am not much of a sweet eater so not much of a problem for me. emoticon
