Day 4, SiS Bootcamp Challenge

Today's video was a good one: Toning arms and upper body with power band exercises. This one I will do again.

I'm adding it to my daily tracker and will do it as offer as I can. I just wish I had looked for it sooner.

Do you suppose 2 1/2 weeks is enough time to noticably tone up my arms and shoulders to look better in a strap dress? Well, I'll try anyway. Can't hurt, right? emoticon

    I didn't care for this video. I've done it before and find it awkward. I'll do it for the challenge, but not after that.
You should be able to tone a little in 2 weeks. You're going to look great!

Day 3, Springing into Shape

6-minute lower body strength video!

All I can say is OMG I have poor balance! It's surprising I can walk and chew gum at the same time!

Lunges, ok
Squats, ok
Leg and knee lifts, ok

Put it all together and..Wham, I just about topple over!

    Oh do I hear you!! I was amazed on how bad my balance had become. It does get better, but I still have a long way to go!!!

    I've been working on my balance for the last 11 months. I know exactly what you mean, tho. Keep working on it and it will get easier. Balance is one of those things that you need to use or lose. And, to work it, you have to challenge yourself to the point of losing your balance to make improvement.

We can do this!!

Day 2 of the Spring into Shape Challenge

Just completed the "core workout without crunches" video for today.

BOY are my abs out of shape. This 10-minute workout kicked my core!

emoticon I am actually looking forward to doing it again on Wednesday.

    This also kicked my butt! The exercise where you are on your knees and you lean backwards was the hardest for me. I don't think that I leaned back very much at all. But I will get better at this!

I did the math, and made a choice

Today, while out to lunch with. my son and mother-in-law I was considering having the key lime pie for dessert, after my broiled salmon and steamed veggies, and decided to do a little math before placing an order.

I googled 'calories in 1 serving key lime pie' and got my answer. 340 calories in 1/10 of a 9" pie.
NOBODY cuts a pie into 10 slices. So, I estimated the calories at 500 per serving, in this restaurant.
That is equal to 55 minutes running on the treadmill, 65 minutes cross-country hiking, 75 minutes walking the dog, and 90-120 minutes of any hard-earned activity like housework or gardening.

I skipped the dessert.

I went to Applebees for dinner and chose a 500 cal dinner. I was tempted by the cocktail "Mudslide" so I checked the calories= 890. Why in the world would I want to drink more calories than I eat. That was my ah-ha moment emoticon
