Lately I find myself foraging for food late at night; something I thought I had a pretty good handle on for the last few months. I think it is because we are getting closer to the wedding (my daughter's) and my weight loss has slowed to a crawl, so I've really stepped up my exercise by a lot the past few weeks.
I'm hungry in the evenings, but I don't know what I want to eat. I kept going back into the kitchen, staring into every cupboard, at the same foods, over and over.
A few nights ago I decided on a small bowl of cereal, with milk and frozen berries. It doesn't sound like much, but it really did the trick.
It satisfied my craving for something sweet, something crunchy, something cold, and something filling.
Tonight I had Special K with berries, about 2/3 cup, with 1/2 cup low fat milk and 1/4 cup of frozen blueberries, all for about 150 calories.
Perfect nightcap, I think.

We did another Conservation Park hike this morning and covered 10.1 miles in 3 hours! It was a perfect morning, weather-wise, brother and sister-in-law joined us and we were out the door before 7:30 AM!
There was just the right breeze going through the trails. Even the dogs were smiling as we made our way over the river and through the woods!
The only sad bit is that I had to get back and get to work by noon. Would have liked to be outside all day, but real life beckons and it's back to the office, back to my desk, and back on the project that I'd forgotten about for a few short hours. Ah well, not the worste thing in the world. At least I like my job, which is more than many can say.
But at the end of the day I'm happy that I got to go, pleased that I can accomplish a 10 mile hike, and thrilled to have burned off over 1,000 calories as I did it.
What could be better than that? (except for the extra helping of sushi that I afforded myself for dinner, right?)

I just looked up my streaks an realized that I have logged in and spun the SP wheel 76 days in a row.
Also of note;
I've lost 20 lbs in that 76 days
I've learned to love my daily workout
I've walked over 250 miles
And best of all, made a long list of Spark Friends!
What's your best streak right now?

The weather here in NH has finally started to warm up, even early in the mornings.
This morning my husband and I headed out for a walk in the woods near our house. We live in an area that is rich with power line tracks, fruit orchards, and a lot of x-country trails that are open for the public to walk on most of the year.
Out the fron door, through the neighborhood and down the path at the end of the road, and there we are; wide open space, quiet trails, nothing but nature all around us.
Up and down hills, through streams, around and though the woods. We hiked for two hours and covered over 6 miles without seeing a car, truck or motor vehicle of any kind.
Needless to say, our little dog was in heaven. No leash, no scary cars, no neighbor's big dog chashing after him.
It was a nice switch from my usual run on the treadmill, which i love. I burned over 1000 calories and added 120 fitness minutes to my log. I'm looking forward to doing it again. Soon.
