April 1, day 1 as a team leader

I had weekend guests and was very busy, which kept me from doing my very best at food and exercise choices, but it was not at all bad, health wise. I hiked and ate pretty well.
Tomorrow I will take time to read more about the responsibilities of being a team leader and put some notes on paper.

I would really like to see the Travel Around the World tour continue-it helps me stick to my workout goals - and we'll come up with other goals and challenges to motivate our group to make good choices and sustainable changes toward a healthy, happy lifestyle.

SparkPeople has helped me to get on track and make good progress, I really want to give back to other members in kind.


Looking forward to the journey.

    "Paying it Forward!" - that is a great reason for becoming a team leader! I haven't been much of team player, just because I try to limit computer time, but appreciate the teams and the help and motivation they provide. Good luck to you on this new endeavor!

Hi all - today I was accepted as a "co-leader" of the Spring into Spring Team. I hope I can help NEW_ME_FOREVER aka: K continue to lead the team to some fun and exciting challenges, as we all work our way toward the happiest, healthiest 'me' we can be.


K is doing a great job keeping this team connected and active, and that is what really counts. She needs to back away a little but will still be there for all of us, and I will try very hard to do as well as she has.

I have really grown to count on all of you to keep me motivated and interested and informed as I travel along this along this path. I hope I can do the same for you.

And I am going to ask for your help, and ideas, and support as I try out this "Leader" thing. don't be too surprised if you see me leading from the back of the pack!

If you don't know me, or would like to know a little more - visit my sparkpage, or just drop me a note - I'm pretty much an open book!

I like the Travel Around the World challenge; it helps keep me motivated to exercise just about every day. Any kind of "lose weight" challenge doesn't help me much, as I'm at goal. I participated in one of those while I was still losing weight, not so much to lose the most among all those who joined the challenge. But just to help keep me accountable. I can see where a "biggest loser" type challenge could inspire people to do unhealthy things.

So I don't know-- challenges focused on healthy lifestyle things, and not necessarily number of pounds lost. Because losing weight is the result of making healthy choices and we still need to focus on those healthy choices after we've reached goal.

    Congrats on being our new team leader!

Since my weight loss has really slowed down, I'd like to see more challenges focused on fitness and healthy eating. I noticed I was doing some pretty unhealthy things when I signed up for weight loss challenges and will not participate in those anymore.

It seems I have completed all of the quizzes that are available here at SP...some with a better outcome than others. But now I am missing those 5 points a day for taking a quiz.

Anybody know of any other quiz sections hidden throughout the site?

    I was able to reset the quizzes go to your start page, click the large black "start". I was able to do quizzes, but not articles or polls!! Hope this helps

    Thanks everyone - I knew you could reset the quizzes - but that you can only do it every 6 months. And Like Susan, I haven't been here long enough... well, maybe I will try it anyways and see what happens.

    Just go to your Start page, and underneath where it says "Welcome (your name here)" it says Account/Email preferences. Click that. It'll bring up a new page.

I was really bummed too, until I figured out I can reset the quizzes without resetting everything else too.

You'd think that since I already did all the quizzes once, I'd be so smart I'd get everything right.....but NO!!

    Go into your spark account and reset the quizzes. I have reseted these same quizzes about 5 times already. Good luck!

    I was wondering the same thing. I know there is a way to reset articles and stuff, but the way I was reading it, there was something about 6 months, and I have not been on here long enough!! Share if you find out any information.

Taking down days...what do you think?

I have been working out every day this month, because I had a goal of walking 100 miles in March. Well, I met that goal - in fact burned it down - earlier this week.

I'm going to take a day or two off, because I need the break. But I was wondering what other people do.

Do you have a routine, a certain number of days you work out or take off?

    Congratulations on 100 miles!!! I thinks it's good to give your body a rest day. I usually take Sundays off. Once in a while we'll hike or go for a walk, but usually it's a day to just relax.

    In the past and even when I started with SP I've been religious about working out 6 days a week. Any less and I felt I was being lazy and I forced myself to take off the sixth day whether I felt I needed it or not. Problem was, sometimes life gets in the way and I would miss another day during the week. Sometimes, I wouldn't sleep well and the forced workout on that day was mediocre at best.
I now workout everyday. If I feel like I need a day off, and haven't had one off for 6 days or more, I take a day off. Most times I have "light" workout days and "hard" workout days but rarely give myself a complete day off.

Congrats on the 100 miles. I made the same goal and met it on Monday!! Yay for both of us!!

    Congrats on the 100 miles girl! I take a day off a week. I took a day off today, I have had a couple of late nights, and i go to work at 8 on Wednesday. I have to get up a 4:45 in order to get my 30 minutes in. I decided to "sleep in" an extra hour this morning, because they do say if you do not sleep enough, it's harder to lose weight. I also think it is good to just shake up your routine, now and then!! You are doing great, keep it up! emoticon

    For a long time, I exercised every single day. (Mostly because I was afraid if I skipped a day, it would be too easy to find an excuse to skip another one. And another one.) Recently I've decided to take Sundays off, and not do any "formal" exercise. Instead, I'm going to try to do "fun" exercise-- a walk with my DH or doing some gardening, or (when it's a little warmer) going swimming in the lake. Not necessarily anything that gets my heart rate up enough to count as cardio, but sort of bonus fitness minutes.

And if it's raining and I don't do anything at all, that will be fine too!!

Here are some pictures to represent "the life of a basket."

And thank you for stopping by my blog yesterday - I appreciate your support and motivation!

Step by step and inch by inch we built this beautiful basket - we did this one and three others. Each of them smaller than this one, but it was such a great experience!
