On the road

Got a late call on Tuesday, to do a 2-day consult in NJ, so we headed right back out after getting home from vacation.
Best thing is that I am in a hotel with a great fitness center, a nice breakfast buffet, and working with a client that is on a diet!

So, today I stayed 100% on track, had loads of veggies, including a salad for lunch and dinner. I worked out, and had an all around good day. I've tracked my food, my activity, and earned some points!

1st day of my 100% compliance week. This could be helpful! emoticon

    Great job! I am also able to stay on track with my fitness, but missing the buffet with healthy choices!!!!! We are visiting family, so I do not have much control on what food is offered, and the choices are slim!! I am starting to long for home!!! It's going to be a few more days.

Last day of vacation

Sad to say I have to go home tomorrow...back to my real life.
I think I have done ok, not great, with dietary goals.
I did drink more alcohol than I would have at home, having a cocktail and/or wine each night. that adds up the calories when it is night after night.
Didn't have any junky stuff or sweets though, for the whole trip.
Did very well, working out at least 60 minutes every day.
Didn't weigh myself, but that was easy.
But here is what I'm conserned about...when I get home I do have a scale, and I'm wondering if not weighing is still a good idea.
Sometimes the scale gives concrete feedback, to let me know that I didn't really do as "ok" as I thought I did on my dietary intake. And that is often enough to motivate me to get back to basics and focus on really sticking to my plan.

Maybe I will just do that as a matter of course for one week.
I am going to aim for 100% compliance with my meal plan, activity goals, and Team Goals for the next 7 days, starting on Tuesday, when I get home.
If I can do that, maybe I won't be too worried about how far off track I may have gone.
So that's my plan, and I'm sticking to it.

    You are selling yourself short. You are living a balancing act - enjoying life - and maintain the loss that you have worked so hard for. This balancing act is a necessary part of maintaining after all your unwanted pounds are gone. Its a good thing to have spent a few days on vacation and maintained control over the temptation to go all-out crazy with food. You made great choices! exercise and choosing a limited amount of alcohol.

I'm really hoping that this proves to be a successful event on the scale too! You did great!

    I'd be willing to be that, with all of your exercise and eating really well other than the alcohol, I don't think you're probably very far off track at all.

Way to go on the committment to avoiding treats and exercising!!!

When I started with SP, my BMI was 33+

25 lbs lost, in 5 months, and I just remeasured and found it to be 29!

First full day on vaca

I think I did ok today.
I ran my usual 5 miles (even bested my own record! )
I worked in the yard, played with the dog, and cleaned up in the basement. so I was pretty active all day.
I took the advice of a new SparkFriend and "danced my way through my housework"
I ate pretty well for breakfast, lunch and dinner...
But I did have a cocktail before dinner - which I guess is ok, because I am still on target for nutrition.
Tomorrow there is a cocktail party at a friend's. I plan to eat before I go, and take a tray of veggies and cheese to nibble on. That should help.

This is the tough part

We decided to head up to our cottage for the long weekend, a few days early.
This is where it gets hard for me.
This is vacation - this is dinner parties, cocktail parties, sleeping late and hanging out.
How am I going to fit that into the lifestyle of "the new me? "
The healthy, active, conscientious, me.

Not weighing is going to be easy - no scale here.
Eating well, most of the time, should be ok...I brought good food and have lots of good recipes. But it will be tough in the evenings, with all the get togethers.
Exercise.... That may be tough too. No treadmill, small cottage, not a lot of room to do workout videos. And the weather will be a big factor, if it's sunny I can run... If it rains ....well, I may have to learn to like running in the rain.

I'm gonna take this one day at a time. Do the best I can with each and every challenge the next 5 days throws my way. I figure if I can get through this weekend well, I can handle whatever the summer brings!

    You can do this! I too am leaving Monday for a whole week, with family in Florida. I plan on packing my workout clothes, and walking, and bringing my computer, so I will have the whole SP library of workout videos!! Will try to squeeze a few of those in!! I have been struggling lately, and am hoping by shaking up the routine, I will at least stay the same!!! "Save" up some extra calories for the evening fun, and like I found out a bunco the other night, I can still have fun socializing without overdoing the food (It is not easy though). Have a fun holiday! Not sure how much time I will have to "spark", but I will be trying to check in from time to time!!

    I usually try to not gain weight on vacation. That makes it successful in my opinion. I always bring an alarm clock and get up before everyone else and go for a walk. Even if I can only squeeze in a mile, it's better than nothing.
Remember moderation at the evening get togethers and you'll do fine.

  Hey! Now's the time to spread your SPARK. Motivate all those people at the get-togethers into joining you for a morning run, swim, walk, or jog. Grab a boat and do some rowing. Try chair exercises in the cabin. You are a member of SPARKPEOPLE, after all, and nothing will stand in your way to lead a healthy life! Enjoy your weekend!

    You will do fine. You can always get exercise videos and just make something up from memory that can be done in a confined space. Take an I-Pod and even if you just dance it is fun and is a good workout. I do know what you mean about the eats though, see if you are welcome to bring a few things along with you and make them healthy, fancy fruit salad, trail mix, vegetable platter, cheeses, whatever that will allow you to indulge on something within your limits. |I have a similar worry, going on a cruise quite soon, all food included in the cost, and wow they have some pretty impressive things on the menu! I figure I'll just do my best, eat smaller portions than they offer and avoid the drinks. I will rely heavily on the gyms and swimming pools as well. If you are determined and look for a way, it will all be good. I tell myself often I haven't got thru all this to get healthy and slimmer just to blow it all in such a short time.
