MOVING FOR LIFE CONTINUES

Monday, April 15, 2013

Oh Boy! The rain stopped this morning and the temperature was warm enough that I was allow to go out. My friend and I went walking together. She's my little stabilizer so when I'm off balance she makes sure I don't fall. FRIENDS ARE GREAT. We all need them. What is the saying? I think it goes something like, "Friends are the flowers in the garden of life." Well, if it doesn't say that it should. This is what my friends are to me. They are fragrant flowers in my life.

Our walk stimulated me and gave me hope for continued success in my Upward and Onward journey.

UPWARD AND ONWARD

Friday, April 12, 2013

I'm just about done with my day. I have eaten healthy and I have exercised a little bit more than yesterday. Usually when I begin to exercise I try to do too much and too quickly. This time I have chosen to be good to myself; move a little more slowly, more deliberately, pain attention to my pain level, and pace myself. We all have different limits and I'm finally listening to mine.

Well put! I have always "restarted" exercising by going all out and not enjoying it in the least, even dreading it. This time, my mantra is consistency. Do less, do it more often and find some enjoyment.

Moving for Life

Wednesday, April 10, 2013

THE DIFFICULTY: When doctors report complications that are unrelenting and growing worse, I ask what are my options will physical therapy help. There are not options and physical therapy will make it worse.

THE QUESTION: Do I now choose to roll over and play dead? Ha! Me?! Not this girl, that is not an option for me. I've never been a quitter. There are times I have stepped back a few paces and there are times immobility was forced on me, but I must move, I must interact with people and my church. Yes, I am a Christian and this knowledge is what has given me strength to continue an uphill fight.

THE CHOICE: Today I chose life, a life with movement even if it adds a little more pain, a life that is a little more healthy. I chose exercise. A body in motion tends to stay in motion. I chose to improve in body, mind and spirit. No, for me it isn't easy, maybe a little risky, but it is better than zoning out and growing worse without trying. I've learned in life that doctors, though well meaning and concerned as they are; they do not have the last word and there are things in this universe that do make a difference. The God whom I serve has always made that difference for me and I know He always will. I have friends that tell me I have the tenacity of a Pit Bull. I take that as a compliment. God has blessed me with that and it keeps me going against and in spite of the odds.

TODAY'S POINT: Never give in, Never give up! Move like your life depends upon it. emoticon

Today's Motivational Quote: Take calculated risks.
That is quite different from being rash.
George S. Patton

I admire your determination. It's good you have decided to exercise, though it will be painful. It is a fact that the more you do, the more you can do. And, the less you do, the less you will be able to do. You are following the healthy path, and I hope it gets easier as time goes on.
