Couch to 5k - Week 9, day 2

Day 2 is in the basket it. Only one more day till graduation! The 30 minutes still isn't easy, and I think it's going to be a bit before I can actually cover 3 miles. But we'll see, maybe I'll surprise myself.

I'm really thinking that it's time to get myself an mp3 player.

    Congratulations! You deserve to reward yourself for all of the work you put into this program! And take your time! The journey is the important part :) I'm sure you've heard that a million times. One thing that has always helped me break past those mileage barriers is mixing in some different workouts in the mileage that I am actually able to do fairly well - like pyramids and also interval training. It's not fun to begin with, but when you finish those harder workouts, you're on top of the world! Then those miles of "just" running will fly by much easier!

Couch to 5k - Week 9, Day 1!

Yesterday was day 1 of my final week of the couch to 5k program. I ran 30 minutes!

I'm soo incredibly slow, I only covered about 2.5 miles. But... I ran for 30 minutes!!! Yay! Two more days of maintaining this pace and I can try to turn my runs into *actual* 3 mile runs.

I've joined up with the One Hour Runners so that I can continue working on my endurance.

Couch to 5k - Week 8, day 3

Yesterday I got myself out to run my final day of week 8. I did it. And I'm pretty sure that my speed increased (I'm still slow, but I covered more distance).

However, I've been sick the last couple days. I went out to try day 3 because I'd been feeling better and had went to work yesterday. Today, I'm really regretting it. I'm drained, my stomach's killing me (again), and I'm all congested (which is new). Bleh. I'm a very unhappy girl.

Back to the upside, I stepped on the scale today for the weigh-in for my Samhain Challenge, and I'm down another pound - putting me at 167.6! That puts my weight loss this year at 16.4. Closing in on that 10% goal!

    Wow, you did great! Especially with being sick too! :o) Sounds like maybe you and I have the same thing...I've had sinus stuff and stomach ills and just generally very drained...seems like its been going on for a couple weeks...bleck. I hope you are feeling better soon!!

Week 8, day 2 - can a get a HELL YEAH!

Okay, I've recovered myself. Another run down, and I'm very proud of myself for getting out there today. It was cold and rainy and the sun was setting by the time I got to the trail. But I did it, and I put in my whole 28 minutes on the run. Very pleased.

Although, tonight I did realize that it's time to reevalute the running schedule. I've probably got only 1 more week, maybe 2, that I'll be able to make it to the trail before sunset. Frustrating.

As I said before, I really want to run outside. There's something masochistically appealing about being able to get outside and run in the cold. But, on the other hand, I'm getting worried about the lack of light!

way to go!! I'm right there with you. I did my first 30 minute run yesterday, I got a bit ahead of myself. I'm prepping for a 5k on Thanksgiving and want to be sure I can run the whole thing so I've switched over to distance instead of time. I realize by doing this, I now have to get up a lot earlier because I'm so slow. I guess it's better for me than sleeping in. I too Love to run outside, but I live in NC after growing up in NY so what they call cold here is not my definition of cold, merely beautiful running weather. Do you have time to run early in the morning instead?? take care,

    Wow, that is very motivating to hear. :o) Today I have week 4 day 3 to do and even though it is very cold outside, I think I'm going to try to run outside in it...seems like it would feel really good to do, lol. I hope you can get your running schedule worked out....doesn't sound good to run on a trail after it has closed! lol
