Small steps are what does it... right?

Wednesday, September 19, 2007

Yesterday I attempted day 1 of week 4 (C25k) and I couldn't do it! I almost did it, but I petered out about half way through the second set of intervals. I tried... I pushed, but I knew if I tried that last 5 minute run, I was going to die. Well, that's hyperbole. But injury was very likely. I did get in a more intense work out than I have been, so I'll just try again on Thursday.

I'm still feeling great about my progress in all aspects, so I can't complain. :)

C25k - Week 3, Day 3

Sunday, September 16, 2007

What a day yesterday was! I took the GREs (weird experience, but I did all right.) Then I got in my final day of Week 3 and rewarded myself by a relaxing evening of old DOS video games.

My week this week is packed, so I'm thinking about going out now and trying Week 4, day 1. My weigh in today went well. Down to 172.8, which is down 2.2 pounds from last week's weigh in. I'm baffled as to what on earth I did to cause my weight to spike 4 pounds, still. I also measured myself and since the last time I measured in June I've lost a quarter inch off my waist and close to an inch off my hips.

Good for you... it is good to get out and do something. I am having some challenges getting motivated, but reading more and more blogs is somewhat helping.

Sometimes I wonder if I will ever get to my goal weight and if I will feel better.

C25k - W3D2

I finished week 3 day 2 yesterday. I definitely *pushed* through that last 3 minutes of running, but I did it! Then I went and helped a friend paint his house. Man, was I pooped by 11:30 when I finally crawled into bed. But, I felt really good about myself, and I was so active (and ate such a great lunch) that I didn't feel bad about accepting the pizza and beer he offered me. (Especially since it didn't take me over my calories for the day!)

Tonight I'm supposed to go over and help him with more cleaning, so probably won't run tonight. Tomorrow I'm taking the GREs, and will probably run after I finish them. Then... I'm rewarding my good fitness and good student behaviors with an evening of DOS video games. I never play video games anymore.

Weigh in frustrations

Well, the scale really decided to throw back my eating decisions in my face. A 4 pound gain in one week. I can't believe it; that seems like so much! It could be that I'm entering the third week of my body's month, when I always seem to retain a pound or two of water (this seems to be the week I consistently see a gain). However, excuses or no... it was still a gain. And when I look back on the week I can pat myself on the back for consistent exercise. But I also had chinese food, a grilled stuft burrito, 6 oreo cookies (in one sitting), and a handful of candy (mostly chocolate) everyday at work...

So, a gain is unsurprising. I need to use this as an extra motivator to buckle down and watch what I'm eating this week. Maybe I'll see an extra loss once I get through my fourth week if I really behave. ;)

I have a similar problem at work. One of my co workers has a jar of peanut m&ms on her desk for everyone. I generally dip into it about an hour to an hour and a half before lunch.

Hmm... I just had an AHHA! moment. I should probably think about bringing in a mid morning snack to keep me away from the chocolate.
Maybe that would help you if you can pin point a time you hit up the chocolate most.

Unfortunately eating a bit of chocolate every day at work can be very hazardous to your goals. They tend to be alot of calories and are best held off for a once in a while treat instead of eating into your daily calories on a daily basis.

Good job for exercising though. if you keep it up, I am sure you'll see those pounds fall away in the next week or two. keep going and don't let it get you down too much!

Couch 2 5k - Week 3, Day 1

Saturday, September 08, 2007

Back in the saddle so to speak. This brings me back to about the point I was when I quite running. Today didn't feel strenuous, like the first time I did Week 3, so I'm anticipating this week to a be breeze. Then... it's on to Week 4 when I really get to start pushing myself again!

Yay me!
