Couch to 5k - Week 1, Day 1

Friday, May 11, 2007

Just did my first day of Couch to 2k. Since I'd been running, I modified it to 60 seconds of running alternating with 60 second of walking. I did my strength training. Now I'm eating some yummy orange chicken and brown rice (courtesy of Spark Recipes). Now I'm going to spend the rest of the evening with the original theatrical release of Star Wars and some writing.

Here's hoping that I make it over the hump

Thursday, May 10, 2007

Well... I'm down 4.2 pounds since I started tracking my eating and upping my activity. I'm hoping for another 1 pound + loss this week. I feel like I've been eating better, but I haven't been as activity.

Next week, I'm going to start the Couch to 5k plan. It's given me a better idea on how to vary my running and walking, and I think I can do it without a stop watch. We'll see how it goes. I'm kinda excited... I'm hoping that I'll finally get me up to running a mile comfortably. Heck... if this works, I could run the Race for the Cure, instead of walk it.

Congratulations on seeing some measurable results! It can be so discouraging when you feel like you're doing all the right things but the measurements don't change. Keep it up and stay focused on your goals.

And so I'm back...

Thursday, May 03, 2007

Well... the winter pudge just got to me and so I decided that it was time to crack down on myself. I have given myself until August 1st to lose 25 pounds, or I'll go on a one week fast from meat and caffeine.

When I reweighed myself to re-evaluate my goals, I discovered that I'd managed to gain back all of the weight that I lost last year. So, I'm starting over from 184 pounds. I think I've got my diet into a good rhythm, filling, healthy food in reasonable amounts and I've been going to Grants Trail for my cardio. 2 mile walk at least 4 times a week. I hope to move my schedule around to 4 miles everyday, but I'll be happy with 4 times per week for now. Also been doing some yoga.

Last Sunday was the weigh-in for week one. I lost 1.4 pounds. Haven't measured myself, I should do that this coming Sunday. This week has been abysmal though.

I've done this before

Tuesday, September 19, 2006

I've done this before, I can do this again.

I haven't even reached the the weight that I got down to the first time I did Weight Watchers. I've barely changed my eating habits. I can't seem to convince myself to exercise half the time. I was doing so good, and I really thought that even with a busy schedule, I could still fit in working. I'll make it a priority. I'll make it a priority. I kept telling myself that.

Just like writing, I keep finding excuses not to do it. I think of these great ideas, I make these great plans. Then I never do them.
