I'm thinking about trying this Bootcamp thing. I watched a couple of the videos, and they're simple but still cause me to work. I think doing the 7 day bootcamp plan for 4 weeks might help be kind of a fast break for me. Help break me out of my rut, the boredom and hopelessness that I'm feeling.

Hey - I am doing the bootcamp, now for a 2nd month, and really like it. The videos are really easy to follow, but still give you a pretty good workout. I have found that some of them, like upper body, aren't challenging enough. I just do those twice.

You should try it - everyone there is really encouraging too, so that might help you get out of your rut! Good luck!

New Toys

Tuesday, May 13, 2008

I bought myself a jump rope and a new sticky yoga mat. The cushy one that my best friend gave me is great for calisthenics (like sits-ups, etc), but I found myself sliding during the sun salutation. So, new sticky mat it is.

Between the running and the jump rope and the bike and yoga, I should have no excuse not to do something at least once a day. I really need to make stretching a morning and night kind of thing. And I do need to get the bike in for a tune up. I can't figure out what's going on with the tires.

Starting week 4 of One Hour Runner this week. Wednesday run will be the shorter midweek run, which makes me kind of sad. I might be stubborn and run 30 minutes anyway.

The thought that in three months, I'm going to have to go looking for new trails - places to run and bike - is maddening. I'm just getting comfortable in the place where I am it seems like.

Spring is a great time to grow

Wednesday, April 02, 2008

Since spring rolled around, I've started to feel so much better. I'm still really weighed down with stress, and I'm occasionally making some poor decisions about food. But in general I'm finding those healthy habits again: they feel more like habits and the bad moments definitely feel like straying. I've been able to stretch my legs and run more.

The yoga is a definite plus. I've been doing a short series of limbering/strengthening exercises every day. Very, very simple. But I can feel that good soreness in my muscles. It's more like a low talking to me - I can feel my entire body, might be a good way to put it.

Sadly, I'm behind in matters spiritual. But one step at a time. Onward.

Spring reflections

Monday, March 24, 2008

Last week marked the start of spring, which I've eagerly been waiting for. The weight as been ticking off slowly over the winter, and my work out motivation has been nothing like it was last summer and fall. Which means my mood has been in the toilet. I'm looking forward to refreshing exercises.

I've been reading John Hewitt's "Complete Yoga Book", which has some great limbering exercises for beginners, so that I can put together a program that will help me strengthen and limber. Although, I hope to keep practicing the Sun Salutation still, even though I know my form would make most Yogins cry.

I'm thinking that my meal planning that last couple weeks hasn't been done as well as I could. I've been craving meat proteins, especially red meats. Of course, I've been under a lot of work stress, and I always crave fatty, red meat when I'm stressed.

In other positive news, I got into graduate school! I start in an MA program this fall. I'm very, very excited. And I have plenty of time to hit my weight loss goal before I start with the stresses of school!

Great job on the graduate school -- that is awesome! Keep up with the yoga -- I can't stress the benefits in overall well being enough! Winter is so long so I understand your lack of motivation regarding things. I am so ready for Spring/Summer it isn't even funny! Keep up the good work and good luck with the MA!!
