Periods...they stop my weight loss!

Tuesday, May 07, 2013

I am 50 for crying out loud! All my friends are not bothered by periods...and I gain about 3 lbs and am crabby because of that 3 lbs till the week is over!
I weighed and lost 1 lb..and I am happy with that...but during that week, I am losing my mind..almost quitting! I know logic says just weigh once a week..but I am compulsive..every morning, first thing!
Am I alone in this? Am I the only one that struggles like this for that one week per month??

I was searching for articles on this when I saw your blog. Ugh, what an awful time it is. Inconvenience, pain, and on top of that, weight gain when I'm eating right and exercising daily. I'm waiting to see my hard work show up on the scale (or I will cry.)

Well, you can take comfort in the fact that it's probably almost over, LOL, then the BIG M weight-gain issue will raise it's ugly head. We women have a tuff time of it. I must say tho, I really do not miss all those TOM issues!!! Be strong!!!

How funny you should share this now. This is my week of the additional 3 lbs (yep, same amount!). Earlier this month, I weighed myself for the first time since eating healthier and increasing my activity level. I was so excited because I discovered that I lost 14 pounds! Well, when I weighed myself on Sunday, I was irritated because it seemed that I had not lost any more weight. Low and behold, my time started yesterday. Since I know I gain 3 lbs during my period, I know that I have actually lost another 3 lbs. I just need to wait a few days to see the good news. Keep your chin up! At least it's weight gained that can easily be shed! The trick, however, is fighting the munchies during this time (at least for me!) so that the extra pounds don't stay! Oh, and I'm 45 so I'm also counting down until I don't have to deal with this anymore!

you are not alone - i used to get the same way and didnt realize it was period week. BUT, you can combat it, i have found. be consistent in your workouts - period? workout harder. drink tons of water, and then by day 2 and 3 of it, you feel back to normal. you also have to prepare yourself mentally for it to come or you will have sabatoged the other 3 weeks of success. you can do it! mind over matter.

Apple turnover gets first bite!

Sunday, May 05, 2013

Why can't I leave the crap alone? I woke up so early..waited too long, till I was starving.
Then there it was , a beautiful iced apple turnover waiting for me to eat it! I did it without
even thinking. :(
I then had a microwaved egg but, alas my calories are already in the 500s..{{SAD}}
I am disappointed in myself, but all is not lost right?
I need to go work out....

Just think of it this way...this is a quote I heard from MariLou Henner when she appeared on Dr Oz show..."There are no mistakes, cheating or bad days. Everyday is a day in the laboratory of your life. Assess what worked, what didn't and make choices for the next day based on what you learned." Ok so this is not exactly what she said, but as close to it as I remember it and it is great advice.

So assess what happened and make choices to improve the outcomes for the next meal, next day, and next time.

June died Friday of lung cancer

Sunday, August 15, 2010

My friend June died of lung cancer. She had it since October and was in pain the whole time.
I still feel numb about it. She was 41 and did smoke...we all did back when we were kids.
I quit when I got married, they ran this commercial that shows an old guy saying if he only knew his wife could die from his second hand smoke..she would still be alive. I did not want to kill anyone..especially my husband! That was 20 yrs ago.
I love June and I am going to miss her. She was a special person, very kind to animals.
If you smoke...QUIT..if not for yourself, do it for your loved ones.

Sorry to hear of the loss of your friend. My dear cousin, more like a sister, passed away on July 3 after a two year struggle. Lung cancer, bone cancer and into brain. I miss her terribly and am still reeling.

i am so sorry for the loss of your friend. my mother was a very heavy smoker for years. it is an awful addiction. i never realized how bad her addiction was until something happened to show me. my mother was hit by a car while crossing a street. she was in a coma for a week. when she came out of the coma, we were all standing around her bed. she looked at all of us and the first thing she said was "i need a cigarette"...they are evil things...

please know that i will continue to think of you and send prayers that you will be comforted in the days ahead. emoticon

Why do people have to suffer before they die?

Sunday, August 08, 2010

I have a very dear friend that is dying. She has lung cancer, she found out last October..she has been through chemo. It spread to her spine, had surgery and more chemo..trach..been through the mill. She is the second sister in one family to have terminal cancer. Her sister died 5 years ago.
What I do not understand is why she is in pain, why if she is going to die..no matter what..Why dosen't her sister..or an angel..or Jesus come get her now..rather than all the suffering? Her healthy sister has been through all this before..and it is killing her to do it again.
I just don't get it..I mean what purpose does it serve for her to lay there, in pain, scared out of her wits?
I geuss I am just trying to vent my fustration..since I no longer eat to push back my emotions. If you pray..please pray for June Marie ...

I am praying that June Marie's suffering will end soon, and that God will take her peacefully to a much better place. I landed here as I just lost my pet cat to bladder cancer and was wondering why people and animals suffer before they die. It's such a sad and frightening fact of life, and I think those who die with minimal or no pain are among the most fortunate. Best wishes.
