Today was day 5 of Jillian Michaels 30 Day Shred. {Had to reluctantly skip yesterday as I didn't get home until very late}. I remember my first day of doing the DVD sneering when Jillian yelled during another vomit-inducingly-painful round of cardio that "You people on Day 5, 6 or 7 are probably noticing a difference in your endurance by now" I was thinking OH SHUT UP YOU BEAUTIFULLY SCULPTED WOMAN I HATE RIGHT NOW! lol. Honestly that is REALLY edited from what I was thinking and actually screaming out loud at the television (because she could totalllly hear me...)

Well, today was Day 5 and I really do notice a difference. I only stopped once and it was the same part thats always been hell for me. 30 seconds of jumping jacks (after already doing a set for warm up right before), 30 seconds jump rope, 30 seconds jumping jacks to 30 seconds jump rope. That is the one part that always just makes me want to lay down and cry... BUT I stopped once and was able to trek through the rest of the DVD with no problem.

I was sweating like a pig (why do we say this? did you know pigs dont actually sweat? they are incapable of sweating... weird..) which is funny because no other exercise has ever made me sweat. With Jillian I am drenched by the end. I've come to view my shower as a reward. With living in Florida in summer, a shower is certainly a reward indeed.

I am going to stick with level one for 3 or 4 more days and then skip ahead to level 2. I don't know if I am really ready for level 2 but I'm dying to try it out, and its supposed to be a lot harder, so worst case I lose more weight right? :)

Anyway, Jillian... I started off hating you and I have grown to respect your methods, painful as they may be. Thank you for being one crazy bitch.

    Wow it's been over a year since I last posted in here. Ahhh the horror of the progress I could have made!! I will be restarting my Jillian Michaels induced cursing/exercising schedule again tomorrow. Here goes nothingggggggg

I'm on day 12. I got to really love level 1, then the first day of level 2 absolutely floored me, but I tried it again today and even though it was crazy hard it was a great workout that I managed to do.

Don't give up!! (and enjoy those well deserved showers emoticon

    Hey, I'm on Day 2 (I had to skip a day too because I was so sore). She is really good though and I love that its just 20 minutes.....that's the best part for me. Good for you!!! emoticon

Day 3... Not so hot...

Today was Day 3 for the 30 day shred by Jillian Michaels. I knew Day 2 and Day 3 would be the worst because my body is still sore from not being used to working out. Yesterday was good, my endurance was great, I was feeling good...

Today..... blew. I just wasn't into it at all. I've been kind of moody all day honestly, I think that's the reason why my workout didn't go so good. I ended up stopping about 4 minutes early, I did make sure to do all of the cardio sections and strength ones, but I skipped abdominal which is dumb because thats my biggest concern is my beer/pregnant looking stomach.

I just wasn't feeling it today. But hopefully tomorrow I can bust it all out :)

    there are some days when you just don't feel the funky vibe. That is ok! The important thing is that you did the work out.

Get a good night's rest, and things will be a lot better tomorrow!

Day 2 of 30 Day Shred

Day 2 of Jillian Michaels 30 Day Shred.
My boyfriend felt bad for how hard he saw me working on the DVD exercises yesterday and let me sleep in until Noon today and woke me up with breakfast in bed. After a quick breakfast I immediately forced myself to do Day #2 of the challenge. I was nervous to get started because my legs hurt so bad, it was actually painful to sit on the toilet lol. I kept thinking I would fall down when I tried to walk, but I wasn't about to give up on day #2. I've done that so many times before and all that resulted was more weight gained.

And...*drum roll*. There was already a noticeable difference. I lasted longer than I did yesterday before taking my 5 second break. I made it through the entire first set of cardios jumping jacks, running, more jumping jacks without stopping to break once.

I can't describe how good it felt knowing that my endurance was already being built up. That is more my motivation now than anything else. I'm feeling good. emoticon

Day 1 of Jillian Michaels 30 Day Shred

I just completed Day 1 of Jillian Michaels 30 Day Shred. I did a lot of reading on the bulletin boards here on Spark People, also on Fitness Pal and anywhere else Google delivered me. The before and after pictures were astonishing. I've never actually paid for an exercise video before, but with those before/after pictures I just HAD to give it a try.

It's 20 minutes a day broken into 3 levels which you move upward through as you progress throughout the 30 days. In level 1 she does 3 minutes of cardio, 2 minutes of strength and 1 minute of core (or is it 2 core and 1 strength??). When she had me going from jumping jacks to running to jump rope within 3 minutes after already doing crunches and so many other exercises, I literally screamed at the TV "ARE YOU KIDDING ME JILLIAN!!!!!" lol, but I pushed myself to get through.

I would take only 5 second breaks, as Jillian specifies this is the only time limit for breaks allowed. My legs feel like jelly, but I also feel envigorated and have the after exercise MENTAL energy (could NOT do that video again right now!!)

All in all I'm really proud of myself for pushing through and finishing the video. Tomorrow I will incorporate the 2.5 lb weights I bought. Eeeep!!!

    I've always thought to take on Jillian's challenge but I am scared to death of her. Now that I think about all the positive feedback this video has gotten I'm thinking " Could I really be scared of success?" Hang in there. Thanks for the encouragement.
