Ramadan started last Friday. Just to recap, it means not eating or drinking from sunrise to sunset.By the 3rd day, I have dropped 10 lbs. ![]()

I lived in Malaysia before and it was hot all year round. It's doable though it was a bit harder with the heat. Thanks! Report Inappropriate Comment |

I have never knocked religious fasting, but I honestly can't get my head around not drinking water in the summer in Florida all day long. It is just way too hot, even inside with the a/c on. That being said, I'm so proud of you for continuing your walking and the hard work. Maybe Ramadan will be a well-timed jumpstart for you! Keep strong, my friend!! Report Inappropriate Comment |

Rockinmom, I do feel much better after losing the water weight. It explains why the scale bounced around so much one way of the other every other day before I started fasting.

Right now, the sunrise is around 4:45am, and set around 9:02pm. I wake up at 3:50am, eat and drink at least 4 glasses of water. Same thing after breaking fast. And drink plenty in between. I get at least 10 glasses in daily. :)

How do you eat/drink during Ramadan? Do you drink water in the evenings? Is it close to a gallon?

I bet you feel better, dropping that extra fluid! Way to go getting your walks in. It's hard to do when fasting.

What a great example of not letting circumstances stop you. Thanks for the inspiration.

I crossed the finished line for my very first 5k walk this morning. I was slow and came in last, but I did come in at 54 minutes, 1.5 minutes faster than my usual time.
I had a much different attitude than I had when I was in high school. I would never enter a race because 1) I wasn't good at running, 2) I wouldn't make good time, 3) scared I would be coming in last, 4) people would make fun of me.
Today was a great day. I crossed so many personal hurdles. My husband finished his run, walked back to find me and walked the rest of the way with me. I appreciate that so much. Just to hear he's so proud of me is very much worth it!

woo-hoo! And I don't think 54 minutes is THAT slow! It's about 18 minutes a mile.
