Spring in my steps

Wednesday, March 26, 2014

Now that winter has mostly passed, I need to deal with winter weight gain. Lost about 5 pounds of it so far within 1.5 weeks. It almost make me think it was only water weight but I do see more definition in my abdomen. The top two abs muscles are clearly visible again.

The baby belly will never be gone but it is smaller.

While having it completely gone might me feel better in vanity sense, I am just happy that I am active physically at the moment.

If I am active, the rest will take care of themselves. My goal is leading an active and healthy life.

Being active gives us endorphins we don 't otherwise obtain and helps us to think more clearly.

I bought a new skirt yesterday. A size L. I didn't try it at the store. It was on clearance. I just eyeballed it in front of a mirror and thought it would fit me fine.

And it did! The waistband is elastic but it doesn't even need to stretch. It sits around my waist. It is even a little bit loose.

A good progress. That made my day. :)

Woo hoo!

I went shopping for a couple of stuff tonight at Target. Since I have time on my hand, I started pulling out jeans to try.

I can wear size 16 misses. Not 16 women. I didn't even have to suck in my stomach! I put it on, there is room around the waistband and the hip.

That hasn't happened to me in a long time.

That's my good feeling for today.

A few updates

Friday, October 26, 2012

Haven't been writing in a few months. My weight has been up and down the scale but it's nothing I can't control. I tend to retain water and gain muscles easily so I don't pay attention to the scale anymore.

As long as my clothes fit right, I am doing good.

A few thing:

1) I quit trying to run, even interval runs. My knees don't agree with it at all.

2) Taking to using the elliptical for cardio exercises to replace running. It's low impact and much, MUCH kinder to my knees. I have been able to do 60 minutes workouts at a time, if not longer.

3) I try to go for a walk, at least for 10 minutes everyday.

4) I set 45 miles goal for this month. I am 0.25 miles short of 50 miles today. I'll be heading to the gym this weekend, so it'll be even more miles.

This is the most miles I've done in a month. Ever.

5) I am still wearing the same size jeans. They're getting a bit uncomfortable to wear. The fit isn't right anymore. Maybe I should just bite the bullet and get new jeans.

Underclothes, too, for that matter.

So, that's what been going on the past few months.

Day 7 of fasting

Thursday, July 26, 2012

Ramadan started last Friday. Just to recap, it means not eating or drinking from sunrise to sunset.By the 3rd day, I have dropped 10 lbs.

On 4th day, I dropped only 0.2 lbs.

Which means, I have been hauling 10 lbs of water weight. emoticon

I am keeping up with walking while fasting. I can get 1 mile to 2 miles on the days I do it. I can do it comfortably if I walk at strolling pace of 21-23 min/mile. That's ok. I am getting some exercise in. As long as I am moving, I am doing ok.

I lived in Malaysia before and it was hot all year round. It's doable though it was a bit harder with the heat.

I have never knocked religious fasting, but I honestly can't get my head around not drinking water in the summer in Florida all day long. It is just way too hot, even inside with the a/c on.

That being said, I'm so proud of you for continuing your walking and the hard work. Maybe Ramadan will be a well-timed jumpstart for you! Keep strong, my friend!!

Rockinmom, I do feel much better after losing the water weight. It explains why the scale bounced around so much one way of the other every other day before I started fasting.

Right now, the sunrise is around 4:45am, and set around 9:02pm. I wake up at 3:50am, eat and drink at least 4 glasses of water. Same thing after breaking fast. And drink plenty in between. I get at least 10 glasses in daily. :)

How do you eat/drink during Ramadan? Do you drink water in the evenings? Is it close to a gallon?

I bet you feel better, dropping that extra fluid! Way to go getting your walks in. It's hard to do when fasting.
