Starting over

Friday, May 20, 2011

*sigh* I'm having to start over. I had my gallbladder removed a little over a year ago and it REALY messed up my digestion, causing horrible diarrhea and nashua. Before my gallbladder attack, my Dr had put me on the south beach diet and I lost well over 40 pounds. I was doing really well, but after the surgery and my digestion being so messed up well... I found I just couldn't stay on my diet, because the ONLY thing that would make my stomach feel better when I got sick was to eat bread and anybody who knows anything about the south beach diet knows bread is one of the BIGEST no nos out there. So it came down to a choice. Stick to my diet and be sick to my stomach all the time or eat the bread that made me feel less sick and gain my weight back. Since I've gained all my weight back, I bet you can guess what I chose. Now over a year latter though. I'm not getting sick to my stomach as often any more, so I'm going to give my diet another try. I don't think I will have a problem as long as the nashua stays away. So if you would cross your fingers, wish me luck, and say a few prayers for me.

    Thanks Guys

South Beach does allow "good carbs" but white bread isn't considered good carbs. When I get sick like that, the only thing that helps is the bad stuff. Highly processed easy to digest stuff.

So glad to see you on here! I did so well on here last year, and just this past month I've got myself back on track again. It's an awesome tool, and then your friends are here to support you on the way!

Maybe South Beach isn't the best way because it doesn't allow carbs? Maybe you can follow other plans that allow healthy carbs to help with your stomach problems?

You can do it! :)

No More Birthday Cake!

Friday, November 06, 2009

Oh my gosh, no more birthday cake for me! I haven't had ANY sugar or white flour since I started my diet. I decided to have some of my daughters birthday cake yesterday. I figured since I've been so good, it wouldn't hurt. I was wrong! It made me so sick! My stomach couldn't handle it! I was nauseous and got BAD intestinal cramps!

Oh, My gosh, I know how you feel! I felt the same way when I had fried seafood with fries one night. It will be a loooooooong time before I do that again!! (But doesn't it make it easier to stick to this diet? emoticon LOL)

Sorry that you got sick but that will be something to think about the next time that you are tempted. I wish that I had a reminder for all of my temptations!

I love cake with gobs of frosting. But my body has changed. Now I just think I need it.

Sorry you got sick...over it.

Nothing this week

Sunday, November 01, 2009

There isn't much to report this week. I just weighed myself and there was no gain or loss. I didn't cheat on my diet, but I also only able exercised a couple of days. I'm not going to let myself get discouraged. I didn't gain anything and that's almost as good. I'm not going backwards, I just stood still this week. Maybe next week I'll be able to take a couple more steps forward and closer to my goal. As it is the weight loss I've managed so far is making a big difference in how well my BP meds are working. Hopefully one day I'll loose enough weight that I won't have to take it any more. *fingers crossed*

That's right! No gain is great, we can't hit the jackpot every week. Plus you had a big loss last week if I remember correctly. Hang in there! I didn't work out at all last week. Need to get on the ball! We can do this!

They never fit before!

Sunday, October 25, 2009

A couple of years ago. Someone gave me a pair of jeans. Well.... they never really fit. They were always WAY too tight. To get them on I had to lay on the bed and suck in hard and even then there were times I gave up and just left them undone until my other pants (the ones that actually fit) were out of the dryer.

I was looking at myself in the mirror this morning though and thinking how much smaller my stomach is looking to me. My curves are even trying to curve the right way now (trying anyway) so I thought what the heck, lets try them on again. THEY FIT!! No sucking in or anything! I was able to easily zip them while standing up and there not even the slightest bit tight! Woo Hoo!!

That is great! I am envious! My stomach and waist are the only places that I haven't lost anything. I can tell a difference everywhere else, even in my butt which was flat to begin with! emoticon

Changed My Start Weight

Tuesday, October 20, 2009

I decided to change my start weight, because I haven't changed it since I joined Spark People, but just before I started the South Beach Diet, I found I had not only gained all the weight I had worked so hard to loose, but also an additional nine pounds. That's the way it was with me. I would work so hard to loose weight, then I would get sick. Too sick to exercise and I would gain everything back. I can't tell you how often I cried over this. Not only did I feel terrible from being sick, but I was steadily getting fatter and fatter. So far as long as I stick to the South Beach Diet, I haven't gained weight. Even the week I was too sick to exercise. I didn't LOOSE weight that week, but I didn't GAIN and that is SUCH a huge improvement. I just pray I have enough will power to stick with what I need to do and that it continues to work. I want this so badly.

I know exactly how you feel. This time we can do it! As long as we continue to eat healthy we won't gain, exercise when we can, eventually we'll lose enough that working out isn't so hard on us.
Stick with the plan and all will be well.
I'm here for you
