Encouraging day

Today at work, I was helping a woman find some work out wear and denim, a pretty common request. We were talking about going down sizes in clothes and not sure when to "buy in" or when you reach a size you can sustain. She has just had a baby and went from a 14 to a 4 (you go girl!!) and needed some new gear.

Anyway we got to talking about how she does yoga and how I am on track to become a distance runner (with practice). I told her that I was hoping to improve some so I could officially go down a size (I can sometimes wear a 12 now, down from a 14sometimes16) and pulled on my now saggy legging jeans.

She told me good luck but that I look great, and she admired me for being a runner. It felt really REALLY good for someone to tell me that I looked good!! I hope she wasn't just being polite, but either way, I'm taking it to heart.

Later on I helped a lady with some yoga pants and told her that though I don't look like a runner, I am dedicated to it. She scoffed and said I look great and not to worry.

It was nice for two customers to be so kind to me today! Though we were very, very slow, the customers I helped were the sweetest and a lot of them were dedicated to fitness.

I am a bit disappointed in my eating today. I had a quick, pretty nutritional breakfast, but decided to indulge a little for dinner. My job allows me to walk basically an entire shift (I try to keep a 2.5 pace while I circle the displays), so I know I burned a lot of calories. I also did some standing ab workouts and crunches on my break. I feel okay with my food choices, but I think I could have done better.

We are expecting a large snow storm, so I went shopping today and got some baked chips and low fat pudding, a long with soy cheese and enough food to sustain me in a healthy way. Tomorrow's plan is to do an hour workout and just have a relaxing day.

    That's always great to hear! How is the running going? It's going to be so tough at first but I promise it will get easy. Are you following a certain plan?

Ready to Run

Today I am embarking on my first run outdoors. it's quite warm here for winter today, and I can't find any excuse not to. Just waiting on my breakfast to settle then its hitting the "Trail" aka pavement down to the beach.

The End of Week #1

So Week #1 was a great week for me! I greatly exceeded all my expectations for fitness minutes, and did well on food, although I think I'm eating too little. It's difficult to not feel guilty going to the fridge for MORE food when I feel like I've eaten too much (even when my calorie count is well under 1,000).

I've also found that things that aren't walking/running bore the heck out of me. I tried to do a fitness show on my cable and it was boring. So i tried another. Then another. None of them satisfied my spirit and body like walking and running do! I think I'm going to commit this week to 30 minutes a day, minimum of walking.

Working in retail, I'm on my feet all day on the days I work so I decided to maximize this by walking my section over and over, counting the minutes. I counted about 90 minutes worth of just walking today on my 4 hour shift (plus standing the rest of the time). Definitely going to help!

My goal for this week too is to not feel guilty about food. That means allowing myself snacks and to not get worried too much about calorie counts. I'm doing great, and my jeans are already looser!
