30 Day Shred Day 3

Thursday, January 17, 2013

I started doing the 30 day shred again, I am currently on day 3. It seems easier this time around so the weight loss has only helped everything along. As for my anemia I have noticed as long as I monitor my heart rate during my workouts and take my iron medication around the same time everyday I seem to feel just fine :). I am still going to the doctor next week just to discuss any other options to control my anemia. I feel awesome though which is great.

Medical Hurdles

Monday, January 14, 2013

I have been having a hard time with being able to work out. My anemia is very hard to deal with and I feel dizzy a lot of the time. I'm finally starting to feel a little better and am going to try to workout again today.
I fear that being anemic will keep me from being the person I know I really am. I used to be very athletic, played softball just enjoyed being active. I gave birth to my miracle son and now am dealing with the medical complications of it. He is 18 months old now and my fav lil guy :) He didn't ask for his mom to be held back and I hope I won't be held back forever.

You have the best motivation in the world, and you CAN work through this! Hopefully your doctor's are able to give you advice on staying active despite your limitations? Best of luck! emoticon

I'm Still Here!

Monday, December 03, 2012

I am still here, I know it's been a little while since I last updated. I am happy to say I am currently down 23lbs and now weigh 233lbs emoticon . I have been walking at least 1.4 miles a day, drinking water and keeping my healthy carbohydrates to around 100grams per day. The weight is slow but seems steady which is what I like to see. Obviously it's fun to see a huge weight drop fast but I always worry that it will just come back, which is usually what it always did. So even when some weeks I only lose 1lb, I see it as a positive, 1lb is still 1lb of weight LOSS. The 1.4 miles is starting to get very easy for me to do and I have even started adding jogging intervals into it and I plan on extending my distance to 2 miles.

Anyone See the Movie FAT HEAD??

Tuesday, November 20, 2012

Well as you know I am eating low carb, which I have found to be a quite a bit too drastic of a cut to 20 grams of carbs a day. I didn't make a weight loss update this week but I did lose 2lbs. I am now 236lbs. I recently watched a movie called FAT HEAD, and it really made me think about how we are supposed to eat. Based on the Dietary guidelines that are put on all products we are supposed to consume 300grams of carbs a day!!!! Does that seem crazy to anyone else? After watching this movie I actually agree with it that fats are needed and that carbs, especially starchy carbs should be limited but then here comes my question. If 300 grams of carbs are too high then how many carbs should we be consuming? Does anyone really know the answer to this question and if you do please enlighten me.

I follow the SP guidelines and eat between 45-60% of my calories as healthy carbs: apples, flax, whole grains, etc. It has worked quite well for me. The bottom line is total calories, though they should be *healthy* calories.
