Habit to Make. (Winter to Spring Challenge)

Wednesday, March 06, 2013

So the requirement of my current challenge is to blog about habits. So one that I am working on now is to walk (eventually run) a mile per day. Just so I don't fail at MY HABIT choice, I am going to shoot for 5 times per week.

I enjoy walking. The weather hasn't been the best so it's been more inside than out but hopefully soon I'll be enjoying doing it outdoors again. You didn't say how much you plan on walking a day but it doesn't matter as long as you start at a point that is good for you and increase it as you go. It is really great exercise.

Walking is great exercise! I did it all fall and then had a cardio endurance test and was suprised that I have pretty good endurance without running!

Great idea! I enjoy walking every day and I don't think I will ever try running or jogging.

What exactly do you want to change? Eating habits!! Overall body image awareness. Loose the GUT!! and Gain more muscle mass
How do you want to look? Comfotable in clothes, or without..
How do you want to feel? Less lethargic and not have the ups and downs in my energy.
What things will you be able to do in the future with a slimmer healthier body? Run...wait wait wait..Jog farther and feel good.

What do I want to change?!? (Winter 5% Challenge!)

Tuesday, February 22, 2011

1. Want to LOSE all the weight in my challenge goal and than a quite a bit more!
2. To that I need to be content with little consistent losses and not try for the big loss. So...CONTENTMENT is the second goal.
3. To be HAPPY with myself and my body image. I don't generally tell others my goals b/c then I only let one person down...ME.
4. For the FUN of a healthy life. I have four kids and a wonderful wife...I do not feel slowed down by my weight. Although I have grown to avoid the things that I used to love the most. The beach, friends pool, and even amusement parks( I have been able to ride all rides so far but it is becoming an anxiety of mine as of late)
5. ENCOURAGEMENT would be one of my last written goals. I have two daughters doing Girls On The Run this spring and would like to at least train with them and help them along with there goal also.

Love your goals! On number 3-I did a blog yesterday on "getting others involved" as a way to help you reach your goals. We aren't there criticize you if you don't achieve them but here to motivate you and offer encouragement to reach for them. Go Cats!

Great goals! You can do it! I'm right there with you on the consistency thing - I always want to see the big number and feel defeated if I don't get it. A loss is a loss, right?

Great goals! Its easier to complete your goals when they are written down. It will feel very rewarding at the end of the challenge when you can do emoticon next to each one of those!

Fall 5% Challenge

Sunday, September 26, 2010

I am hoping that this will be the springboard that I need to start off my overall weight loss goal.

When I started Spark I weighed I think 297 in Aug '07. A year later I hit my highest weight ever breaking the 300 pound mark of 311 in Nov. '08. Then to make things worse I was diagnosed with high cholesterol in Oct '09.

I really do not want to be this overweight. I enjoy going to amusement parks and riding all the rides. I have not had a point yet where I have not been able to ride all the rides but also don't want that anxiety. The point to this is that we did not go this year and that may be the biggest reason that I did not suggest we go. Is that fear of being told I cannot and then the feeling holding everyone else back.

One of my overall goals is to be able to ride rides again. Last time I rode a ride I was terrified.. not that the rise was scarry in itself, but it felt like it was swinging alot more then it should have due to my weight.. all I was thinking was this thing is gonna become disconnected .. never rode again.
Was sad since my son wanted me to go on rides with him

I know what you mean about rides - I am never sure so I often just don't go on the rides - I felt that way even at Nascar last year - I just didn't want to be uncomfortable or embarrassed. I am ready for this fall challenge as well - so far it got me dancing yesterday and out walking today!! Glad to have you on the cats team - I am sure we can do this together!

Keep The Faith

Monday, June 08, 2009

Almost two weeks ago our management team called an impromptu meeting at the end of our shift. As they moved us into the meeting they assured us that this is for the "Good of the Company". The important and informative meeting was to tell us that we are going to receive a 20% pay cut in two stages in the next 6 months. Don't get me wrong, I am still happy to have a job. The situation is that the management group is up for a raise. I don't understand how you can demote the workers and promote the boss.

Where is the common persons Robin Hood? It feels a little like Nottingham.

Then after being laid off for a week I go back to b told that after 11 years of service that I am going to "POSSIBLY" , maybe/maybe not be laid off permanently. The kicker is that Mary( my wife was laid off from a sister plant in Feb. two days after she got in 12 years.

I know that there is a path for everyone and with faith God Will get us through. The trial is how far is it to the bottom. I am ready to go up again.

"yet for us there is but one God, the Father, from whom all things came and for whom we live; and there is but one Lord, Jesus Christ, through whom all things came and through whom we live."
1 Corinthians 8:6

I'm so sorry to hear about this. It is terrible that they are willing to demote their workers to give the boss a raise. Michigan is a horrible lace for jobs right now and it is very sad. Take your frustrations to the gym and work it out! I just read an article that people who workout and take care of themselves get better jobs and raises. Use that encouragement to get through. Thinking of you and your family :)
