goal weight - achieved!

I weighed in this morning... 139.4! Goal weight is 140 - I made it!!

I am going to continue doing what I am doing and see what happens. I am going to now focus on lowering my body fat % -

My Natural Appointment

I met with Angie of Be Well Associates ( www.bewellassociates.com/

and it was a very informative appointment. Because I want to make the transition into eating whole foods, we are working together to cut out artificial sweeteners and added sugars. She also suggested that I may want to cut dairy out of my diet as well, and work toward a more Paleo approach. I am ok with that. I think I would do well with that.

I am also thankful she didn't try to push a bunch of supplements off on me either. She recommended a very good multi vitamin, and also something for liver support. She said she would like me to try one round of it to see if it helps with the metal taste when drinking water.

All in all, I am very happy with what we discussed, and it is nice that I have someone I can email any time for a perspective.

    Good. You sound like you are moving forward into a healthy, very healthy lifestyle. I wonder what she thinks of almond milk. The original no sugar added one. I haven't had milk in years, because I'm lactose intolerant, but do like the almond milk on oatmeal and cereal, and in iced coffees too. Ask her what she thinks though.

Why Decaf is Lame

Decaf tea is just not the same. It really lacks the flavor of regular tea. It doesn't matter how long I steep it or how hot the water is, the flavor is just not there. It is pretty much hot water with a brown color.

Sometimes I use loose tea, which has a bit stronger flavor, however, It is not always efficient to use it especially when I am at work.

Decaf coffee isn't much better. I find that even the dark roast decaf still lacks the flavor of regular.

I am not much of an herbal tea fan. Some of it is ok, but I find a lot of it gross.

I spent today at my mother's house. I made my co-worker my famous (well at least famous on Night Shift at Smith transport) Chocolate Peanut Butter Filled Cupcakes w/ Peanut Butter Icing and I also made pasta salad for our potluck dinner on Saturday at work. I am not really sure how I feel about pasta salad. I like it is very small amounts, but it isn't something I can eat a huge amount of. A 1/4 of a cup is enough for me. Even before my RNY and my healthy lifestyle, I still only liked a small amount of it. The same really goes for all picnic salads. I am not a huge fan of them.

I want to do something fun tomorrow with my boyfriend. It is too cold out to go play tennis or basketball. I don't think there are any movies he wants to see (I am not dragging him to see beautiful creatures) and I don't really have the extra money to go shopping. I am sure we will go out to dinner and grocery shopping like we do every Friday we are off together. I just want to do something besides sitting at home watching some boring, lame TV show.

The Holistic Approach

Usually, I think all of that Holistic stuff is a bunch of garbage or rather a big steaming pile of horse dung. So, why now, am I considering it?

With my goal weight just within reach, I figure I am going to have to go through maintenance, which scares me to death. I have talked about this in other blogs. I am so afraid that I am going to gain my weight back that I need all the support I can get.

A friend of mine recommended Be Well Associates

The Nutritionist I am seeing, Angie, also has a lot of experience in treating addiction. Not only do I think she will help me chose the right foods and help me on the path to clean eating, but I also think she will help me with my food addictions. I am thinking that with her support, the support of my trainer, my medical (surgical) team, my RD, my family doctor and my WLS Support Group that I might just make it.

I am not really into the entire "detoxification" thing, because I don't really believe that you can detox the body, but I am hopeful that clean eating and other things will help me be a continued success.

The cost is a little much -- $150 for the first appointment, but can I really put a price on my health? I don't think I can. I will easily be able to afford it if I make a few cuts elsewhere. Looks like I won't be hitting up that awesome sale at Aeropostale this week or next!

I know people may think I am crazy, but this is something I honestly feel will help me be the person I want to be.

In other news - I had a great workout at the gym today. Strength and Cardio. I am trying to convince my co-worker to do C25K with me. I printed us out a schedule. I just need to get a routine down and I think I will be alright.

Here is what I am looking at... may be a little intense, but I can make adjustments

Monday - Train w/ Trainer

Tuesday - if I am off, PC Fit Level 1 (slower paced boot camp for beginners - need to talk to the trainer about this) C25K

Wednesday - Strength and Cardio

Thursday - Same as Tuesday - If I am off work PC Fit and C25K - if I work, just C25k

Friday - Strength and Cardio

Saturday - C25K

Sunday -- Not a dang thing!!!

These are 60 minute classes that are designed for the someone who is new to Functional Training or does not feel ready for the intensity of the PC Fit class. These classes will use the same equipment and program design as our regular PC Fit program but with a lower intensity and an emphasis on proper mechanics and education. The design allows the pace to be individualized to challenge all levels of fitness. Come in and try it out for free. You will quickly understand that anyone can do it and the results are real."

My goal is eventually to quit personal training and just do PC Fit. I still have a long way to go before I can do PC Fit though.

    I have been in maintenance for 66 weeks and counting and I have been within my weight the whole time. I have a simple little rule I go by. First what I did to lose it I am committed to doing that Monday - Friday. That includes eating and exercising. When I get to week-ends I may fudge a little bit if there is something special that I want (I really love Banana Pudding). I don't do it often but I will enjoy once in a while. I eat as natural as I can in NW WI in the winter and I enjoy what I eat. I also use SP as I think it is important to keep knowing where I am so I can handle problems. The other little tidbit is that I weigh in on Monday so I do have to be good on the week-ends!

    Holistic is where it's at! This world has become so toxic and full of chemicals and fake foods, that there's very little out there that is actually good for us. As long as your nutritionist isn't totally gung-ho on "healthy whole grains" and legumes (and a lot of them are), this might be worthwhile. Good luck!

    You do what's best for YOU! If that means you need to try something different to help you in maintenance and for your health, then go for it! It's like you said, you can't put a price on health. Plus, you have so many people in your support system that you'll figure out pretty quickly whether this is something that's really going to work for you.

Love that workout schedule. It's aggressive, but it's always fun to challenge yourself a bit. I'm sure after a few weeks, you'll have that routine down with no problems at all!

    Well, I'm quite a 'believer' in a holistic approach. So I absolutely wouldn't call you crazy for considering it.
I do feel that if you're sared of maintenance, paying a lot of money for a holistic counselor and for the supplements they're likely to presribe, may not be the way to move through that fear. Maybe you won't be so scared anymore once you've been in maintenance for a few months and gain some confidence that you can do this, just like you were able to lose the weight.
How about joining the teams for maintenance here at SP? Finding a few buddies to talk to, learn from, and to hold you accountable?
How about making a list of things you think will be hard and writing down possible solutions? Just a few things you might try first before spending money on what you think is a heap of dung...

The Ultimate Fat Kid Snack (recipe and photo guide)

What you will need

1 package of oreos
1/2 cup of peanut butter
1 brownie mix prepared per box directions

Step One -
take an oreo and spread with peanut butter
place another oreo on top of it, and spread with more peanut butter




Step Two -
Place in muffin tin


Step Three -
add brownie batter




Step 4
Bake at 350 for 20 mins


Nutrition information:
Completely unhealthy
As far as I can tell, given the information from the brownie box, peanut butter jar and oreo package - roughly 400 calories each

Why did I make these you may ask? Especially if I am not going to eat them?

I made them for my boyfriend and co-workers. Healthy eating and habits aren't really important to them. I work with a few people who no matter what they eat stay skinny as a rail. They like when I make treats, so I will make them treats.

In other news, I am roasting a chicken for dinner


Oh, and I am 1.2 pounds away from my goal weight now -- yay!!

    I'm lauging about the pics and how 'seductive' they are! Hope your boyfriend and the coworkers enjoyed them. BTW there are great and easy to make recipes around for cookies with dried fruits - sweet but no sugar added...
