Sunday is a Lazy day

Sunday, January 20, 2013

I have every other Sunday off, and I have declared it "lazy Sunday".

I watch TV and sit on the couch and pretty much do nothing. Well, I do something because I am incapable of doing nothing. I usually do laundry and some cleaning.

Last night, my boyfriend and I went to dinner and the movies. We went to Chili's to eat. I am surprised at how "bad" their food actually is. They do have lighter options on their menu ( I chose the Margarita Chicken) but you have to chose VERY carefully! We did the 2/$20 which includes an appetizer. I didn't eat any, but he got the 1/2 order of Texas Cheese Fries. I looked up the nutritional info just because... 1240 calories just for a 1/2 order! He ate them all. Oddly, the thing I was tempted by the most wasn't the fries, cheese or bacon. It was the slices of jalapeņo peppers. My meal, had I ate the entire thing would have been 650 calories. I ate a little under 1/2 of the dinner and will be eating the other half tonight for dinner. My boyfriend got the Bacon Ranch Chicken Quesadilla which was 1450. I shudder to think! Post op, between his appetizer and meal he consumed more calories than I do in 3 days!

We went to see Zero Dark Thirty... I wasn't that impressed. It was long, and for the most part boring. I think it is a good story, but I think it would have worked better as a documentary.

I have the week off work and am looking forward to going to the gym and doing a whole lot of nothing

We ate out most of the weekend & I hated it. So frustrating trying to find what I want and looking at the menu & thinking I could have done so much more with those ingredients at home. Glad you chose wisely and I can certainly identify with watching your BF eat those huge calorie laden meals. It makes my tummy hurt to just watch my sons eat sometimes. I've never been a huge Chili's fan. It's probably been at least 10 years since I've eaten there.

I love days where I can just lay around and do nothing. I am in school right now though, so I usually end up feeling guilty for not doing things I should have been doing. My boyfriend and I went to Chili's once a while back, before I started eating better. He had some kind of burger with bacon on it, and a few months later I saw it on one of those "Worst Restaurant Meals" list. You have to be so careful when eating out...calories and portion sizes are out of control!

Lots of fun stuff going on the last few days!

I went shopping and out to dinner on Tuesday. It was awesome. I went to State College since they have a few stores we don't have in Altoona. I mainly wanted to check out Express because back in the day, they were the sister store to Lane Bryant and all of their clothes were such good quality.

I ended up looking in Express and not finding anything to my liking. So, I went to my two fall back stores... American Eagle and Aeropostale.

I bought 3 shirts and Aero and 2 pair of jeans at American Eagle. The jeans are a size 8 - but I was able to squeeze into a SIZE 6!!! They looked horrible. Skin tight, horrible camel toe, and I couldn't breathe at all... however, I did get them on and get them buttoned and zipped... yay me!

We went to dinner at Applebee's - and I got my usual - Signature Sirloin w/ Garlic Herb Shrimp. It is my absolute fave! I eat half of it, and take the other half home. It comes with potatoes, and I usually don't eat them at all. Sometimes I may eat one or two chunks, but I am not a huge fan on regular potatoes. I like sweet potatoes alright though.

When we were in Applebee's it starting snowing out. The ride home wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. I am one of those weird-o people that actually like driving in the snow. I don't like driving on the interstate however. I will take the back roads, which is what I did. I took it slow and Paul and I enjoyed talking.

Today I met with my trainer. We are working on my legs. I am a bit on the wobbly side. I need more leg strength. It was a great workout and I am pretty sore.

I think that is all for now

Sounds like you're having a great week! And I'm so excited for you that you are buying size 8 jeans and fitting into 6s. You gotta be on top of the world over that!

I love Applebee's. I've never had that dish in particular, but it sounds good.

And great job on the workout! Woo hoo!

Have a great day.

Sounds like you are having a good week. Congrats on being able to squeeze into those jeans and finding some clothes that you like!

The Signature Sirloin sounds really yummy. I used to hate Applebee's, but since they've updated their menu with the 550 calorie items, I go there as much as possible. I LOVE their Dijon Chicken with Portabellos.

I think I am going to fire my doctor...

Monday, January 14, 2013

I had a doctors appointment at 10:30 today. I got there early, like I always do. I waited... and waited... finally at 2:30, I left. Doc caught me on the way out, and I told her, I was sorry, but I needed to leave. I have been waiting over 4 hours, and I had somewhere I needed to be at 3. As it stood, I wasn't going to make it on time.

I got my co-pay check and left.

I didn't want to be rude, but holy crow! I am used to waiting at my doctor's office. When I have a 10:30 appointment, I am usually out of there by 12:30-1:00. Which is ridiculous too, but nothing I am not willing to deal with. I usually back a lunch, and take a book and settle in. What is nice is that they will call you back and put you in the room, so you don't have to sit in the waiting room.

It just irks me. I missed my workout because I had to meet my Father at 3 (more on that in a few) and I was still in her office at 2:30!!

After the B.S at the doctor, I literally sped to my parents house to meet my Dad. We went to see The Hobbit. It was a fantastic movie! I loved it!

We then went to Chick-Fil-A for dinner. I had a 4 piece grilled nugget and a small bowl of Chicken Noodle Soup. It was fantastic!!

I think that is all for now

Sounds like being at the NAVY HOSPITAL. My husband had an appt this morning at 9 AM and didn't see the doctor until 2:30 PM. She said she had had to asst in surgery for two doctors. Oh, well.

That is ridiculous! What did the doc say to you? My allergist is like that, very chatty and always behind. I try to get the 1st apt of the day anytime I have to go see him. That being said I cannot imagine waiting 4 hours. I would have been pissed.

I'm glad you liked The Hobbit. We saw it over Christmas break and enjoyed it. Of course now we have to wait a year for the next one.

So I agree that you probably need to find a new doctor - but I understand.... I just went to a new PCP in December, and she came highly recommended but I was also warned she was very "chatty" - well what that means in practice is that she is always behind on her appts. I went in for an 11:00 AM appt and didn't go in to see the dr till about 12:15.... but once I went back, she was in my room in like 2 minutes and she spent 45 minutes with me, so the flip side of having to wait that long is that she did give me her full attention and time when I did get in to see her.... All that being said - a 4 hour wait is ridiculous, there is no way that I would have stayed that long! Time to look for a new dr.

I agree with all of the comments. I read somewhere once that a person got fed up waiting at the doctor's office and he sent the doctor a bill for his time! It never happened again.

I have absolutely no patience for that. You keep me waiting more that 30 minutes and I'm looking for another Doctor. You're a very patient lady.

JAMIELYNNEM 1/15/2013 7:06AM

I know how you feel. I was seeing an endocrinologist and the wait was at least 3 hours each time. I went three times. I was hoping the first time they were just behind, but it was like that everytime so I had to find a new one. Your time is just as important as the doctor's.

I'm interested in what your doctor had to say when she spoke to you on your way out? It's also interesting this physcian is a woman.

Such tardiness on her part is completely unacceptable and so disrespectful to you and your time.

There is absolutely no excuse for that kind of wait. Even the 2 hour wait is uncalled for. Definitely time to find a new doctor.

I really destest doctors at this time. They overbook and then have no time for the patients, making them wait. But I'm glad you had a good time otherwise.

The Cabbage Soup Diet

Sunday, January 13, 2013

Remember that crazy diet from way back when?

Who out there didn't try it at some point in our lives? I watched my Mother and Grandmothers both do it time and time again. Needless to say, it never worked. The only good thing that came from it was... THE SOUP! I love the stuff.

I decided that since I have been eating Campbells like it is going out of style, I would make my own. I made my own variation of it over the years, and am pretty sure I almost have the perfect recipe

recipes.sparkpeople.com/recipe-detai
l.asp?recipe=1951032

I am going with my Dad tomorrow - We are going to see The Hobbit and then out to dinner. I am not sure where we are going, but I am hoping TGI Fridays - yumm.. I love their Chicken! I usually get the Dragonfire Chicken. It comes with rice, but I usually tell them no rice. Sometimes, they will let me get an extra side of broccoli, sometimes they won't. I guess it depends on who the server is.

I have to go to the doctors tomorrow too. She just wants to check in with me, make sure I am being healthy and not wasting away to nothing. After that... I am hitting the gym providing she doesn't take too long.

all in all it will be a good day!

Ironically, if I've had an overeating bout, I then get in the mood for a nice vegetable soup much like that cabbage soup. If I have it with some bread or other starch and perhaps a few dried beans or dairy, my appetite gets back to normal. But day after day? No need any more.

I used to do the Cabbage soup diet. I always lost 7-10 pounds and always had it back withen 2 weeks ;-)
I do however still make my own version of the soup sometimes because it is nice to have a hot bowl of veggie goodness with very few calories when I just want SOMETHING but really have hit my nutritionl "max" for the day.

I make a soup I found out about on SP. I think it's called Poor Man's Soup. I may have tweaked it a bit to make it my own, but it is awesome. I don't add meat but navy or cannelini beans if I can find them. I use dry beans, in a can in a pinch but they are not as good. Enjoy your cabbage soup.
