I volunteered at the library today. I got all of the Annual Appeal letters done and ready to be sent out. All of the board members got them signed... It is a good feeling getting such a large task like that finished.

After I volunteered, I went for a ride. I only did 10 miles today. I don't know why, but I was out of my groove, and my heart just wasn't in it. It could be because I smashed my hand yet again while unloading my bike, or it could have been because yesterday I got blood work and my arm hurts like nobody's business.

Yesterday was a fun day... after I almost passed out from blood work, I went to the Jeep dealer and got my Jeep serviced. Then when that was done, I went shopping. Shopping is a pain in my rear now. I am at the point where all of my clothes are too big. I need something to wear, but I am not done losing weight yet, so I don't want to spend a lot of money. I have checked thrift stores, and nothing is really jumping out at me.

Oh, and you know... I know they aren't the best thing in the world... but behold my last guilty please

    I have survived the not spending too much on clothes by hitting the thrift stores (you have to go often , some days nothing and some days I find tons of stuff) I also have a Sears outlet store here and that has been a lifesaver. They have clothes from all the stores under the Sears name like Sears, Kmart, Lands End, and Chadwicks. Check and see if you have one

    Huh. Never heard of them! I would like to be able to have something resembling ice cream, though. maybe one of those sugar-free coconut thingies. Enjoy and don't feel guilty!

    well at 14 calories, its not like you are "spending" loads of calories on something not so nutritious... thats how I view my sugar free jelly(jello) I have every day, its 20 calories, but makes me feel happy and finished at a meal time!

I would love to try those ice creams!

For giggles, I entered my fudge recipe in the Spark calculator... even if I make it 24 servings (which is next to impossible unless you want a crumb) It has 297 calories a piece! I don't get anywhere near 24 pieces out of a pan... to think, I would eat 1/4 of the pan at a sitting, plus eat it out of the pan after I was done cooking it...

Everyone raves about my Peanut Butter Fudge. I don't know if I can, in good conscious, make it for my co-workers this Christmas. I feel bad, knowing the nutritional content of it. I guess it is up to them if they want to eat it because they know that it isn't good for them... but still.

I finished up the letters today for the Annual Appeal. The Library will be sending them out next month. Keep your fingers crossed that we get lots of money back!

I went for my usual 15 mile ride after today. I think my body is starting to get used to it because I only burned a little over 650 calories. The first few times I did it, I was at over 800! It is still good exercise tho, and I keep pushing myself harder. I like it a lot.

I got a call back from the trainer today. I wasn't home to get the call, so I have to call back tomorrow to make arrangements.

My new FitBit station also came today, so all is right with the world.

    Sounds like a recipe I will need to pass up. Still working on the assumption I will dump - not testing that assumption either! Can't wait to get back to my bike and the pool - DH thinks I should be breathing well first!
Speed intervals on the bike are a great idea for increasing your exercise and getting faster.

    Yeah, post that recipe! If there was a way to cut down the sugar, it would be great. Don't care that much about fat or calories! It's eye-opening when you figure out the nutritional value of things!

    I did something similar to you by seeing the nutrition content of what I would eat in the past without a second thought ..... picked up a few snackie type foods in the grocery store and for the first time I read the labels. These are items I don't eat anymore, but was attempting to add up what I would eat and how much of what's not good and how little of what is good in my 'other life' .... WOW, little wonder I weighed over 220 lbs! I wouldn't in good conscience be able to go back there!

    I'm having the same issue with my rides. If I ride in the morning, I burn under 600 calories in 15.44 miles! The first time I did that route, I burned over 800. Also, I'm much faster. I used to burn 400 on the way to the gym, but now it's more like 300.

It's transferred over to other workouts, too. I used to burn about 500 calories in 45 minutes of Turbo Fire, but last night I burned barely over 300!

    Maybe you should try doing some intervals on your bike ride to get your heart rate up. Let your body feel something different. I have started doing that when I am walking the dog and I can feel my heart rate elevated during the walk. Good luck.

Trail Riding

I have been doing the majority of my riding at the local Rails to Trails. It has been a lot of fun. It still is fun, I enjoy it. I think however, that I want to go to a slightly more advanced trail. I have been checking out some around my area, and I think I am ready to take on some beginner trails. I have to wait for my boyfriend however, because I don't want to go alone.

I guess the worst thing that can happen is I get there and can't go very far and will have to walk my bike.

All in all, the day has been good. Spent the afternoon at the library volunteering, then went on a 15 mile ride. Right now, I am getting my laundry done then heading to bed. I am also going to be volunteering tomorrow.

My Romantic Day

My boyfriend woke me up today at 11. We went to the Landfill to take some of the refuse from next door. He has been gutting the house as we plan to start renovations here soon. Then after the dump, we went through the Burger King drive-thru. He got 2 cheeseburgers and an onion ring. I got nothing. I unwrapped his burgers and took the pickles off for him... and fed him onion rings as he drove down the road.

When we got home, I had something to eat and we spent the rest of the day until he had to go to work together... it was really nice. I actually had my bike loaded up ready to go, but decided to skip the ride and spend "time" with my boyfriend, since it had been a little over a week since we spent "time" together.

I had a ride planned for tomorrow, but there is a 100% chance of rain and thunderstorms, so, if that is the case it looks like I will be hitting the gym. I haven't been there for a long time because I have been blowing it off to ride my bike.

Speaking of, I called about a personal trainer, and no one has gotten back to me yet and it has been almost a week. I am not really impressed... I really NEED to work with a trainer, and them not getting back to me is making me not want to renew my membership. Which we all know is a load of BS since it is the only gym close to me, other than the YMCA. I guess I could always buy my own ST Equipment stuff, but you know... I am not even doing ST until the freaking trainer gets back with me to set something up.

My new FitBit base isn't here yet. I emailed them and asked if it had shipped. I see they released a new one, which if I had to, I will buy another one since I can't live without it, but I really don't want to. I want the one I have to work correctly and sync correctly. If this new base doesn't work, hopefully customer service will replace the device entirely. I really rely on my FitBit, but with not being able to sync it, I am losing my motivation.

It is supposed to be nice on my days off. I have volunteer work and bike rides planned. Friday my boyfriend and I are going out to dinner (Olive Garden) and to the bike shop to look for a few things.

I am not having luck with electronics. Not only is my FitBit acting up, but my bike trip computer is too. I think it might be because it got drenched a few times, but I notice it isn't very accurate. I thought about wireless, but everyone seems to think the wired ones are better...

    I hope to get a cateye soon - had one when I was cycling years about 5 years ago and then upgraded to a Garmin that never worked right for me. The cateye I had was simple and did a great job of letting me see my cadence, speed and miles. I like monitoring - it helps me get better. I haven't been on my bike since my ride among blooming grasses left me speechless - literally. Got to see how I can manage my allergies with my new stomach.
Make sure if you get into a trainer contract, you can get a really good trainer. I've enjoyed having that extra help to make sure I am really going to make progress and not get hurt but some of the trainers did not monitor form as well as I expected.

    The wireless computers have come a long ways. You might try the Cateye brand. They're very reliable.
