My Romantic Day

Monday, September 17, 2012

My boyfriend woke me up today at 11. We went to the Landfill to take some of the refuse from next door. He has been gutting the house as we plan to start renovations here soon. Then after the dump, we went through the Burger King drive-thru. He got 2 cheeseburgers and an onion ring. I got nothing. I unwrapped his burgers and took the pickles off for him... and fed him onion rings as he drove down the road.

When we got home, I had something to eat and we spent the rest of the day until he had to go to work together... it was really nice. I actually had my bike loaded up ready to go, but decided to skip the ride and spend "time" with my boyfriend, since it had been a little over a week since we spent "time" together.

I had a ride planned for tomorrow, but there is a 100% chance of rain and thunderstorms, so, if that is the case it looks like I will be hitting the gym. I haven't been there for a long time because I have been blowing it off to ride my bike.

Speaking of, I called about a personal trainer, and no one has gotten back to me yet and it has been almost a week. I am not really impressed... I really NEED to work with a trainer, and them not getting back to me is making me not want to renew my membership. Which we all know is a load of BS since it is the only gym close to me, other than the YMCA. I guess I could always buy my own ST Equipment stuff, but you know... I am not even doing ST until the freaking trainer gets back with me to set something up.

My new FitBit base isn't here yet. I emailed them and asked if it had shipped. I see they released a new one, which if I had to, I will buy another one since I can't live without it, but I really don't want to. I want the one I have to work correctly and sync correctly. If this new base doesn't work, hopefully customer service will replace the device entirely. I really rely on my FitBit, but with not being able to sync it, I am losing my motivation.

It is supposed to be nice on my days off. I have volunteer work and bike rides planned. Friday my boyfriend and I are going out to dinner (Olive Garden) and to the bike shop to look for a few things.

I am not having luck with electronics. Not only is my FitBit acting up, but my bike trip computer is too. I think it might be because it got drenched a few times, but I notice it isn't very accurate. I thought about wireless, but everyone seems to think the wired ones are better...

I think that is all for now

I hope to get a cateye soon - had one when I was cycling years about 5 years ago and then upgraded to a Garmin that never worked right for me. The cateye I had was simple and did a great job of letting me see my cadence, speed and miles. I like monitoring - it helps me get better. I haven't been on my bike since my ride among blooming grasses left me speechless - literally. Got to see how I can manage my allergies with my new stomach.
Make sure if you get into a trainer contract, you can get a really good trainer. I've enjoyed having that extra help to make sure I am really going to make progress and not get hurt but some of the trainers did not monitor form as well as I expected.

Hey, spending "time" together counts as fitness, right? I mean, it's no bike ride, but it's still important emoticon

The wireless computers have come a long ways. You might try the Cateye brand. They're very reliable.

Pasta Salad - Photos and Recipe.

Saturday, September 15, 2012

1 box of mini bowtie pasta
1 each red pepper, yellow pepper, orange pepper, green pepper
1 pound of ham
1 package of sliced pepperoni
1 pound of mozzarella cheese
1 pound of colby jack cheese
1 package of cherry tomatoes
1 24 oz bottle of Wishbone Italian dressing

Boil pasta until al' dente texture is achieved (about 8 mins) and drain
cut everything into small chunks
mix together
add dressing
allow to sit in fridge overnight

Healthy? No way!
Delicious? Everyone always tells me yes!

I do realize there are ways to make it healthier, however why ruin a good thing. You might also be surprised to know that I don't eat it.... never have, in all of the years I have been making it, I never eat it.

I Have Mastered the Art of Drinking and Driving...

Thursday, September 13, 2012

On my bike that is... I have finally mastered the art of drinking while I am biking. I was really happy about that. I haven't been able to do that. I am finally starting to get comfortable enough on my bike that I can drink and drive.

I would really like to get a camel bag, but I can't drink with a straw because of Gastric Bypass surgery. So, I have a pretty awesome thermos I take with me, and it works really well.

I am still really pleased with my 24 mile ride. I have a hard time wrapping my head around the fact that I started the summer not being able to ride 3 miles, and now, I can ride 24. I view a 10 mile ride like it is nothing. I even referred to it as a "quick 10 miles"

I think that is all for now

Well done, its really important to be able to stay hydrated - especially on the bike. I got my bike out Friday because you inspired me. I used to have 2 bottle holders on it that I kept icy polar sports bottles in. Sadly, DH took my bottle holders and replaced it with one of his that is harder to get the bottle in and out of. I do use my sports bottles - didn't realize the straw issue was a long term no, no - I'm going to write to my surgeon's office. I think it would be hard to pedal while drinking, I find I generally slow down while sipping.

It is funny how the same distance you think of as short on the bike will feel long when you drive there.

Good for you. Look into doing some organized rides. You get to meet some really neat people.

24 miles is awesome! It's so funny, I think of 10 miles as a "quick" ride, too, and just a few months ago I'd have been too scared even to try! Gosh, I could barely ride a mile a few months ago!

You are doing so great! I'm so happy for you!

Also, drinking and biking is also great. I haven't figured that out, yet.
