It feels good...

Tuesday, August 07, 2012

Thanks to my FitBit, I have really been working hard on hitting my goals. It is very satisfying to see my number of steps and stairs...

It seems like this is the missing piece of the weight loss puzzle. Well one of them, RNY was the other... speaking of, I have almost lost 70 pounds. I can't even wrap my head around that. I can't even lift 70 pounds! How was I carrying all of that on my body?

I am really happy right now. Of course, I am usually a happy person, but right now I am REALLY happy. I rocked a good workout at the gym today. I did 15mins on the elliptical using the "Random" course on level 4. That is really good considering when I went back to the gym after surgery, I could barley do 5 mins on level 1. The Random course take different levels but never goes below a level 4. I was very pleased I maintained it for 15 mins. Then I walked on the treadmill for 30 mins. I know I need some ST - I REALLY do, but I just.....

Well anyway, tomorrow I am going to the library to volunteer.

I think that is all for now

is it really, truly, WORTH it?

Sunday, August 05, 2012

I have been tossing around the idea of getting a SmartPhone for quite some time. I used to have an iPhone, and I wasn't really a fan. I didn't much care for the Apple platform, (iTunes) and I really wasn't a fan of the $110+ phone bill every month.

Messenging Unlimited - $20/month
Data 300 MB - $20/month ($30/month for 3 GB)
Talk Plan - $39.99/month (450 mins)

Grand Total - $79.99 ($89.99 with the larger data plan, which is probably what I would need)

That of course, is without all the taxes that go along with it.

When it is all said and done, it would be close to, or over $100.

Now, there is the Smart Talk option, where I can get unlimited everything for $45-60 a month, but would have to buy a phone at almost $200.

It is a lot to think about...

The reason I am thinking about getting one is because of food tracking and my FitBit. When I am somewhere and can't track my food, I get VERY anxious. I think having a phone with me at all times might help a lot. I can track food, workouts, see my daily progress on the FitBit.

In other news, I have quit wearing antiperspirant. I am trying out more natural deodorants. Right now, I am trying this Crystal Deodorant. It is working pretty awesome. I haven't smelled at all. I am pretty impressed with it. I went walking outside today in heat and humidity, and I didn't even smell like arm pits when i was done. To boot, I didn't even put any on this morning, only last night.

I think that is all for now

I keep forgetting to tell you... I got some of that Crystal deodorant too and I can't stop doing "pit checks" because I'm amazed at how much I don't smell! Hah!

FYI - I'm switching from Verizon to Boost - - Boost has a plan for unlimited talk, text, data, web for $55 a month ($59 counting tax) and every 6-months it drops $5 until it gets to $35-$40 a month with NO CONTRACT!!!!!! It's also nationwide. The one I'm getting is an android phone.

Tough decision! What's right for one may not be right for another. Try to research which phones are glitchy and which plans work best in your particular area then run it by someone you trust. Then when you do make a final decision, please make sure to remember 3 things: 1) a phone protection plan in case of accident/theft, 2) virus-software (there are some good free ones out there), & 3) a protective case. hope that helps a little! emoticon

If you do the math (I am guessing both are a 2 year contract), it is cheaper in the long run to spend the $200 on the phone and pay $60 per month. It is just a lot out of pocket to start with. The only other thing I would check is to see how well each service works in your area. Good luck!!!

I understand the phone issues. I've never had a smartphone, but a friend of mine is giving me his old one for free and letting me be on his plan for the next year, so I'm going to have a smartphone at least for now. I am worried about paying for it in the future, but I could always go back to a dumbphone. You're right, it's a lot to think about. Good luck with your decision!

My New Obsession...

Saturday, August 04, 2012

My new FitBit came in the mail today! I can see that this is going to be my new obsession. I am going to be tracking both on Spark and LoseIt! Since that app intergrates with FitBit.

In other news, well... there really isn't much other news.

Shopping -- well, that WAS fun...

Friday, August 03, 2012

My friends and I went shopping yesterday. I need some new clothes. None of my clothes fit me except some pocket t-shirts, so I decided I would comb through some thrift stores and see what I could see. I went to one. I became very discouraged, very quickly for a few reasons. First, I went to a "higher end" thrift store, and the selection was awesome, IF you were 130 years old or 15 and a size 0. I am neither one of those things.

So, I ended up at TJ Maxx where I found a pair of Levis for $19.99. I thought that was a pretty decent deal, and they made my butt look good. They are a size 16. Before my surgery, I was wearing a size 22 in those.

That seems odd to me... I have lost over 60 pounds, but only 3 pants sizes? That doesn't seem right, but that is what it seems to be...

I tried on some jeans at Lane Bryant, and I am a 14 in those! I was a 20 at the time of surgery. Again, that made me really happy!

I went to Macy's and was able to wear Tommy Jeans... I have NEVER EVER been able to wear Tommy jeans! I do wear the biggest size, but the point is I CAN GET IN THEM!!!!!!!!!!! Again, good things :)

We had dinner at Red Lobster. I ordered the grilled chicken from the children's menu and it was FANTASTIC! I was totally amazed at how awesome it was! I used to adore seafood and fish, but I can't eat it anymore. It taste like metal to me, and I can't manage to choke it down. The chicken was great though.

We went to a few other stores, and I bought everything but clothes. I just can't see spending money on clothes right now.

Tonight on the menu is left over Chipotle for "lunch" and ranch chicken and zucchini for "dinner" - I am obsessed with Chipotle. A small serving (about 1 cup) is so filling.
Light on the brown rice
pinto beans
double scoop of fresh salsa
corn salsa

One burrito bowl is enough for four meals. Not too shabby for $7

I think that is all for now
