FitBit vs BodyBugg vs Body Media

Friday, June 22, 2012

I have decided when I reach my first "goal" of 200 pounds (which is in about 10 pounds) I am going to buy myself a FitBit, BodyBugg or Body Media. I am not sure which one I want. I spent the better part of last evening doing research on all devices. The conclusion I came to from reading articles and reviews is that each device has a lot of things going for it.

I am leaning towards the FitBit because you don't have to pay to use the website. I really want the most accurate device tho.

If anyone reading this has any of the devices, please share your thoughts with me!!!

Bodybugg is the best of the 3 if your goal is accuracy. Both BodyBugg and BodyMedia are the exact same technology with a different web interface and pricepoint (BBug is much cheaper, generally speaking, for exact same product). Big difference there is that BodyBugg's web interface allows you to put in every ingredient in a recipe and accurately add in exact nutrition for anything you make, if you cook, and add in whatever the nutrition label says for any premade food, while with Bodymedia you have to stick to whatever foods are in their database. HUGE detractor, there, for accuracy of calories-in. The fitbit is cute and fun but does not even attempt to tell you how many calories you burned; just gives you "points" for your activity, and fun motivation to keep you going. Also, there are those of us who are never, ever going to lose weight if we don't track your calories-in -- so fitbit is really a waste of time except being fun to monitor your activity, which both the BodyBugg and the BodyMedia do with much more accuracy, due to their heat sensor technology to track your calories, not just giving you "points" for activity. That said, different products for different people, right? If you don't really need exact calorie counts for how much you are moving and you don't want a subscription, fit bit plus one of the free food trackers (my fitness pal is the best of those out there) is a good combo. For sticklers to accuracy in calories in/calories out, however, Bodybugg is the winner!

I love my Bodymedia Fit. I just saw on their website that they have them on sale for $99 with a free 12 month subscription. It's a great deal. I only had a 3 month free subscription with mine, but it's only $6.95/mo, and it's definitely worth it.
Congrats on your success so far!! emoticon

"Greek" Eggs (recipe and photo)

Thursday, June 21, 2012

this morning (well afternoon, since I didn't get up until after 12:00 - 3rd shifter here!) I decided I wanted a Greek Omelette. The only problem? I can't make an omelette to save my life! It always ends up as scrambled eggs with stuff in them. Either way, it is fantastic tasting. For those of you who read this and have not had WLS, you might want to add more since the portion is very small. For those of you who have had WLS, follow the recipe and you will still not be able to eat it all!

1 large egg
3 cherry tomatoes
1 tsp of chopped onion
3 small spinach leaves
1 tbs feta cheese

mix everything together and cook

Then and Now - (photo)

Thursday, June 21, 2012

The picture on the left was taken March 25th - the picture on the right was taken last week. Honestly, it has been hard for me to really see a difference until I looked at these photos.

I am very pleased with my progress to say the least

I can totally see it! We don't see ourselves change as much as others do. We see ourselves everyday, but others see us much less. It is then that things become sooo evident!! Great job!!

I think everyone should take pictures, even if they chose to keep them to themselves. A start point gives an insightful frame of reference.

Rock of Ages

Wednesday, June 20, 2012

The past few days have been pretty busy. On Monday, my BFF Katie and I were going to go to Bariatric Support group, but some how messed up the time, and didn't get to go. We went to Olive Garden for dinner, and it was FANTASTIC! I had soup and stuffed mushrooms. I ate 2 mushrooms and 1/2 of the soup, gave Katie 2 mushrooms, and took the rest home for lunch the next day. The soup was beyond amazing!

We went to play bingo with our very good friend Marc. I didn't win anything, but Katie won $100, which was awesome. She took me to the movies :)

We went to see Rock of Ages. I will admit, I was a little skeptical at first, but it was the funniest movie I have seen in a long time. I laughed until my sides hurt. I would recommend it to anyone. The music was awesome too.

On Tuesday, I spent all day at the library. Summer Reading started, and we had soooo many kids show up! There were over 100! I worked the front desk checking books in and out.

After I came home, I was beat. I spent the night on the couch watching Season 4 of True Blood.

Today, I had to come back to work. It was soooo hot out today, I didn't even want to leave my house. I will be posting a blog tomorrow of progress pics... I hope they are ok, and I am in a sports bra and underwear, but really, I don't think that would be any different that a bikini? I am really proud of myself.

I don't really have much else to say right now

Yesterday... Today... Tomorrow...

Wednesday, June 13, 2012

I honestly think my blog title are perfumes from Avon... anyway, I spent yesterday, today and will spend tomorrow volunteering at the Library.

I am totally honest when I say, I truly love volunteering there. It really makes me feel like I am doing something worth while.

I promised myself that I would spend the evening reading. I have every intention of doing that too.

I am supposed to meet with a trainer on Friday, now the gym called and wants to know if I can go to another gym to meet a trainer... oy vey! What a pain in the backside! I suppose I can go to the Altoona, PA facility. That could be alright. I just don't like the thought of driving in there.

I have to be honest, I am not really a fan of my gym. I liked my old gym a lot better. The equipment seemed nicer, and the people weren't as pompous and douchey. I suppose it is the time of day that I go. Maybe I will pick a new time?

I went shopping with my BFF on Monday and it was a lot of fun. I finally found a pair of shoes. They are not exactly what I wanted, but they will do until I can get a better pair this fall.

We ate at Chipotle. It was amazing good. I got a burrito bowl w/ brown rice, chicken, fajita veggies, fresh salsa, black beans, cheese and lettuce. If I would have ate the entire thing it would be over 600 calories, which, considering all the food there, isn't a bad deal at all! I have gotten 4 meals out of it. I am amazed at how wonderful and fresh everything was. I adore their fresh salsa. That stuff it amazing!

I think that is all for now

I haven't been there to Chipotle, but I've been hearing good things about them. Hopefully, I'll get an opportunity to try them soon.

The library does sound like a nice place to do volunteer work. I love libraries. Books and Silence, two of my favorite things.
