Banging my Head against a wall...

Thursday, March 03, 2011

I haven't been to the gym since Monday. I have an excuse for every day why I didn't go, and about a million reasons why I should have went. Tuesday I had plans with friends and i bought a new car. Wednesday I was tired, and today I had to go to the dealership and pick up my tires, and come to work. I am going to try to go to after work, at 530 am, but sometimes working 12 hours on 4 hours of sleep wears on you.

I am going to go on Friday, Saturday and Sunday and try to make up for it.

I have just been so upset because I am not losing weight. I am trying so hard, and get no results. I actually GAIN weight! Then I get frustrated, and I binge.

I started the day out today with 2 slices of whole wheat toast, w/ 1 tablespoon of peanut butter and a nice big cup of hot tea. For lunch I had 2 lean pockets (not a good choice) and some diet iced tea. For my lunch for work I packed but ended up getting Hunan Chicken. Which isn't a bad choice I don't think. I didn't eat the rice, just the veggies and the meat.

My packed lunch I will most likely end up eating at some point tonight. Lets face it, Chinese food really doesn't stick with you. The lunch I packed is actually pretty decent. I also have some good snacks with me too.

That is about it really. I guess I am just frustrated and pi$$ed

Don't focus your meals around carbs. Veggies and fruit and then protein and carbs. For instance, one piece of toast with natural peanut butter, a couple spoons of yogurt maybe a scrambled egg or egg white with veggies in it. Healthy can be fast. Green tea is awesome for you!!! I'm slowly weening myself off of coffee. You need to fuel yourself wisely in order to have energy.

Buffalo Sauce

Sunday, February 27, 2011

I love Buffalo Sauce. Any time I make chicken for my work lunch, I always bring some buffalo sauce to dip it in. My most fave kind is the Frank's Red Hot. A little goes a long way too! I think the typical serving size is one tablespoon which is more than enough to dip my chicken in.

My stats for the month of February leave a lot to be desired. I gained a total of 2.5 pounds and have not lost any inches from anywhere. I was NOT impressed. In fact, I was pretty pi$$ed.
I have been working really hard. I have been working with my trainer 2 days a week, and going to the gym a total of 5 days a week. I have been watching what I eat. I keep it between 1200-1500 calories a day. On the weekends, I may up it a little bit to enjoy a meal out but never more than 1700 in a day. I didn't lose a single ounce, I gained.

My trainer (who also is a nutrition something or other) and I talked at length about it. I had mentioned that quitting smoking screwed something up, but apparently, all the years of poor eating habits (not eating, binging and purging, diet pills and drugs in general) have most likely caught up with me and have destroyed my metabolism. It does make sense.

She also thinks that I should be eating more calories. Since I am eating 1500 a day roughly, and according to the spark calculator, burning appx 500-900 calories per workout, my body is not getting enough and is holding onto what it does get. In essence I either need to eat more or stop eating all together (no she didn't tell me that, but that is pretty much my own conclusion) - so, I have decided that since I suck at not eating (used to be pretty good at it in High School) I will just add some more calories. She wants me to have at least 2000 on days that I work out and on days that I don't I can eat less, but she said she really doesn't want me going under 1700.

That kind of confuses me, since when I calculated my BMR is was 1834. I figured that if I ate below that and worked out, something positive was going to happen. Apparently not. This is when I really wish I had a Body Bug or something like it so I can actually see what I am doing. I mean, according to the calculator on Spark my workout burns over 900 calories, but does it really burn that much?

I have also thought about joining weight watchers again. I know that everyone says you can do Spark for free, but sometimes I feel like I need that face to face interaction with people. I wish there were such a thing as Spark meetings. I don't really want to pay $40 a month for weight watchers, because honestly, I can do the eating part on my own. I even looked into the possibility of going to overeaters anonymous, but I could only go once every two weeks because of my work schedule. Weight Watchers has a meeting every day, so that would be nice. I could go to a meeting everyday if I felt I needed that support. The awesome thing is the weight watchers center I would go to is right by my gym too. I could go to a meeting and work out. Again though, I don't know if I want to cough up the $40 a month to pay for it. I have the money right now, but with gas prices set to go so high, and the fact I am supposed to be saving money in order to buy a new Jeep, I just don't know what I want to do. I realize that my health is important, but also I need a new vehicle because mine is on the verge of dying (1994 Jeep Cherokee w/ over 300,000 miles) and $40 a month is a lot of money when you couple it with my gym membership at $30 a month.

In other news that is not weight loss related, my boyfriend and I adopted a kitty from the humane society. He is a little doll baby, and I will be posting pictures of him tomorrow when my wireless internet is finally hooked up! His name is Leroy, and I love him!

I think that is all for now

I have seen on a lot of posts that if we don't eat enough and exercise more that our body goes into starvation mode and we will gain weight. I think that was happening to me for awhile. Once I started to eat more the weight started to come off. It seems backwards to me, but it is working. Good luck with your goals and congrats on your new kitty.
