Where do I Go From Here?

I have never written a blog because I was waiting for something inspirational, something wonderful, to write about, but maybe this will help.

I have been doing this weightloss thing for well over a year. I have gone to Weight Watchers since January, 2008. I have lost 45 pounds. BUT...since around Christmas I have been gaining and losing the same 5 lbs over and over and over and over. I am so frustrated and with frustration comes complacency. When I get to this point in the past, I usually give up, gain back all the weight and then some and feel defeated and miserable. I swore this would not happen again. I swore I would not give up. I don't know where to go from here.

  I have felt this way time and time again... Keep your head up!! You have lost 45 pounds!!!! Those five are nothing!!!

    I've never managed to keep the momentum going longer than three months. You are an inspiration to me. Why don't you go back and recheck your motivation. Why did you start this journey in the first place? Your health? Your kids? You wanted to feel better about yourself? Has the motivation changed? Are you just looking at weight or also inches? When my weight doesn't move for awhile I need something else to remind me of the success I've achieved. How many inches haves you lost? Checked your blood pressure lately? There can be so many ways that you can see success besides the weight loss.

What I've found helps me when I plateau is to do something out of the ordinary. Exercise like usual, but then add to that a family hike in the woods, or a long bike ride. Sometimes getting out in nature renews both the spirit and restarts the weight loss. Hang in there!

    You've lost 45 pounds since January 2008 and have kept it off except for the 5 pounds. What an accomplishment. I'm looking forward to the day that I can say 45 pounds down - then I'll be a little over half way toward reaching my goal. When you lost the weight previously, was it only through Weight Watchers or did you also exercise? Reading others accomplishments is what helps keep some of us motivated, so please do not let the 5 pounds defeat you!!! You can do it!

    Hang in there and don't give up! Embrace how far you have come and what you have accomplished. Just go back to the basics. Good luck!
