On a roll...

Friday, November 18, 2011

I was tricked, on Halloween, I mean asked, to be in the Christmas Tour of Homes. We have a beautiful new home (2 years) and I love showing it to everyone, but I always have a finish it, fix-it, to do list that simply doesn't want to go away. The last week or so I have been getting LOTS done, including making and hanging a Roman shade, 6 decorative bed pillows, pieced a comforter and shams, and painting a large bathroom last night. Today I got the binding on a Christmas gift(comforter), and painted a picture for my upstairs landing, and tonight recovered 6 chair cushions. I'm really on a roll, but have a wedding to go to this weekend, and a long trip to the airport, and will visit my son's family, & twins. Can't wait! I am having Thanksgiving at my house on Friday, 16 people, all but 2 of whom stay over for 1-3 days! Then I have only a week to clean up again, get the beds re-done, etc., and be all decorated for the open house on Dec. 3. If you hear someone screaming "HELP!!!!", it's probably just me! In case I'm too busy next week to post, Happy Thanksgiving to all my Spark Friends!

I'm back, Kind of!!!!

Wednesday, August 31, 2011

Hi there! I haven't been on Sparkpeople much lately. I usually log my food, but otherwise have been gone, or too busy. We went on a cruise August 5th, and had to cut short the second half of our vacation because my dad died while we were up there. Sucks! We had a long, sad time getting back in time for the funeral. Since then I have been staying in Nebraska with my elderly mom 3 or 4 days/week, and when I'm home, I've been trying to keep up with my gardening. I've done dozens of jars of tomatoes, beans, salsa, pears, and pear butter. Today I'm going to bake rhubarb and zucchini bread and pear cobbler, and I have a great squash/chicken enchilada recipe. I better get busy!!!! One of these days I'll get back to the sewing and quilting. Hope all is well with all of you!

Great cruise, then sad news :(

Thursday, August 18, 2011

I'm finally home! We had a great 7-day cruise, and 4 day Denali trip planned, but had to cut it short after the cruise, because my dad passed away last Thursday, so we came home after the cruise to be with my family for the rest of our allotted "vacation" time. We were stuck on the ship, at sea, for 2 days after the call, hard to enjoy after the news, and kind of a sad ending, but things will be fine. Pam

Pam, I was so sorry to hear this!!! What a sad way to end your vacation. It's nice you could go be with your family, but still... I feel bad about your vacation. Glad you got to enjoy the first 7 days anyway!!
Take care and keep in touch!

emoticon I am very sorry for your loss. You have a strong attitude and I am sure you will be okay. But, still, it is very, very difficult.

More sun!!!!!

Wednesday, May 18, 2011

I've been doing pretty well with the calorie counting, but had a hard time with 6 graduation parties the last 2 weekends. Ugh! That's over, the sun was out again today, and gardening is in full swing, so I'm getting a lot more exercise doing that. I LOVE it when the spark tells me if I consistently burn too many calories, I need to eat more. emoticon I started building a garden arbor today, and got half done. Have the sides ready to cement in, maybe tomorrow. Rock on!!!!
