Just a few more days

For once, I hope that our local weatherman is right. He claims that our heat wave is going to break here in Mid-Mo next week. It would be great to run in the morning when it's not 80+ degrees with our typical 80% humidity.

This morning's run was a bit of a challenge, but carrying water made a big difference and I am sure is a lot safer.

Hopefully, your weather is a little more mild than what ours has been for the past couple of weeks here in the heartland.

The craziness has begun. We will be involved in two training conferences this week. One is in the south central part of the state, and the other is in the southeastern part of the state on Saturday.

This will go on until early October. When it's done we will have trained over 1,500 leaders from about 200 churches.

Please pray that the Father will bless this time and use it to equip the saints and further His kingdom.

    There is no doubt that the saints will be equipped. The prayer is that the saints use the equipment that they have been given.

Sunday drive

This morning involved a long drive to the Northeastern part of our state. It was over a two hour drive to the church where I spoke this morning. It was a gorgeous morning to be on the road, and the drive through this part of the state did have some nice scenic spots. After a time of worship I was able to spend some time simply talking with several folks from the church. Of course, I had to hit the road so that I could get back home and spend at least a little time with my family.

While it was good to fellowship with some wonderful brothers and sisters, it sure is good to be back home for the afternoon before a crazy week at work begins.

    I pastored a church in college that would have 15 on a good Sunday, and once preached to two as a result of inclement weather.

    Our new pastor told us that while he was at the seminary that he was sent to a church that had 7 people there, and that was their average attendance. I can't imagine having a church that small, but Jesus says that wherever two are gathered in my name, I am there as well.

Successful Evening

Last night's sleepover was a success. While Olivia's friend waffled a little bit about being away from home, a few minutes on the phone with her Mom last night gave her the courage to presevere.

The two of them played late into the night and then slept in a little this morning, before my wife took Mattie back home late this morning.

The two of them were content to simply play together in Olivia's room most of the night, but the real adventure was when they got to sleep in big Sister's bed, since she was away from home last night and it's a double.

Well, life will start getting back to normal. It's hard to believe that Olivia starts school in a little over a week.

    Glad you survived that. I'm fortunate that the few that my youngest has over regularly are old pros and we don't have to worry about that any more.

Olivia's first sleepover

Tonight is a monumental occasion for our youngest daughter, Olivia. This will be the first time that she has had a friend over to spend the night. Of course, she has been to a few sleepover birthday parties, but this is the first time that she is actually having someone over at her house. This is only because this is the first time that she has asked to have a friend spend the night.

Well, it should prove to be an interesting evening, so I better try to get a nap in this afternoon.
