Nearing the End

Saturday, February 04, 2012

Tonight is the beginning of the end of one of the longest rivalries in college sports. Mizzou and Kansas will play their last conference game in Columbia tonight in front of the usual sold-out crown at Mizzou arena. The teams will then play again later this month in Lawrence. Other than meeting in the conference tourney, this might well be the end of rivalry that extends to Phog Allen's first game against his alma mater back in the early 1900's.

A lot of the blame for the end of this rivalry has been placed upon the leadership at MU. While some of this criticism is fair, the bigger and more glaring issue is the changing landscape of college athletics. Sports at these institutions has become more and more about money than anything else.

I will not spend a lot of time giving my humble opinion on this matter. I am simply stating my own disappointment that this rivalry is coming to an end.

Oh well, might as well enjoy it while it lasts.

Rambling thoughts

Friday, February 03, 2012

After a nice long morning run, my wife and i headed to Columbia, Mo to get some things for the dogs. Since their haircuts, the cold weather has been rough on them. Of course, we can't stand to see them shaking so, we went out and solved the problem.

It's kind of quiet around the house today. we are looking forward to having our oldest daughter home for the weekend in just a few hours.

Once our youngest arrives home from school, we will have the entire family back in the house for the weekend.

Hope your Friday is going well.

Blessings

Blessed....

Thursday, February 02, 2012

Last night was a special time with my brothers and sisters here at FBCC. We had a great group of folks involved in our prayer meeting, as well as a building full of children and teenagers in various activities.

As i ran this morning, i was gently reminded of how blessed i am to be serving where the Father has placed me. i truly love seeing lives transformed by His grace and power, and then finding ways to give Him the credit and praise.

My prayer is that this life i have been given will be an offering of praise worthy to the One Who has given all for me.

Blessings.

Amen. Prayer is the foundation for all great things to transform our hearts and minds on Christ. It's pretty much a requirement in the ultimate healing process. Without it, it's hard to know if we're focused on traveling the right direction.

Another Wild Wednesday

Wednesday, February 01, 2012

Today is a typical Wednesday at our church. Since the children and teenagers get out of school early today, our church has a program that provides for various age-appropriate types of recreation and some study help as well. This afternoon, i will be downstairs in the youth room helping out with our junior high students who come in to hangout before their evening activities.

It will be a long but fulfilling afternoon. Hopefully, your Wednesday goes well.

Blessings.

Seeking Clarity and Focus

Tuesday, January 31, 2012

Today has started and has been running full speed ahead. Spoke with a web consultant this morning, and we're going to try and beef up our web presence as a church. Our site needs an update.

I am also thinking through some other possibilities with respect to our church's ministry in our community. Prayers are greatly appreciated. I want to be careful not to bite off too much, because whatever we choose to do, my hope is that we do it with excellence.

Blessings.

May the road travelled by you and your congregation be the journey God has planned.
