A Surreal Feeling

Wednesday, January 04, 2012

Running became a renewed passion for me about eleven years ago, when a coworker and i began running together when we found ourselves on the road at youth events. After a while i was able to get my distance up to 3 miles and on certain occasions could push myself to 3.5 miles. Four miles seemed like an impossible dream.

I was given some helpful advice from another coworker about increasing distance one day a week until i got to a particular goal. That running journey continued to the point where i completed my first half-marathon earlier this year, and in the training process have done even longer runs.

All of this started here in Jefferson City, MO where we've lived for nearly nine years. As I was out on my morning run, i quickly realized that it was my final run in this community. We will be moving on Friday, and there will not be time for me to get a run in for the next couple of days.

As i passed some familiar landmarks, it just felt strange as i realized that this will probably be the last time that i pass by that way.

It's interesting what you experience and become attached to on the journey.

Blessings

It is I can relate to that. When I moved to Chas SC I lived in Orlando FL for 18 years I knew I was moving for 6 months but it was the day I actually got into the U haul w/ Dad when I relized that was the last time I would be in that neighborhood. Mixed emoitons.

I really hope your enjoyed your run and Pray your new path will be awesome!

Prays and blessings to you and your family!

Finally Done

Tuesday, January 03, 2012

Today we were able to get into the duplex that we will be moving into later this week. It was exciting to see it with carpet and finished walls and floors. Our youngest daughter was especially excited to see her new room. We are grateful to all of you who have been praying for us, and have offered us words of encouragement during this transition. It's hard to believe that it's almost here.

Friday is our big day as the movers load our stuff and bring it to Centralia. While the move will put a kink into my running schedule, it's more than worth the sacrifice.

Enjoy your Tuesday.

Blessings.

Calm Before the Crazies...

Monday, January 02, 2012

Today is a nice day off before the week of craziness gets into full swing. After a couple of days at work with meetings both Tuesday and Wednesday nights, the movers will be at our house early Thursday morning to pack. Then on Friday, they will return and transport our belongings to our townhouse in Centralia.

Hopefully, it will go smoother than expected as we move through all the details of moving and getting settled in a new community. After waiting for over a month, it's nice to see things finally coming together.

Hope your Tuesday is going well.

Special Day!!

Sunday, January 01, 2012

Today was a special day for our family. Our youngest daughter, Olivia, made a commitment to Christ a few weeks ago, and wanted to be baptized. Today, she shared her decision to become a Christ-follower with the rest of the world.

It's great to have the prvilege of baptizing my own daughter, who has become my sister in Christ.

Blessings to each of you on this start to a new year.

Belated Christmas Party

Saturday, December 31, 2011

Today we headed to our senior adult minister's house in Columbia, where he and his wife hosted a staff Christmas gathering. Due to some of the challenges of my late arrival as pastor, and the unique dynamic of having some of our staff members serving part-time, this seemed to be the only time it might work.

Unfortunately, one of our staff members, who serves in surgery prep at a local hospital was unable to get off work, as well as a couple of staff spouses. Still, those of us that were able to make it had a nice time, enjoyed a great meal and learned a little more about one another.

Hope your New Year's Eve goes well.

Blessings.
