Enjoying the weekend

Sunday, December 27, 2009

Hopefully, you've been able to enjoy your Christmas weekend. Our family has been able to relax and simply hang out together. Of course, with my wife and two girls that usually means there is shopping involved. Although I'm not a fan of that activity, I do enjoy spending time with Debbie and the girls. It is kind of fun to watch our youngest spend some of her Christmas money.

Hope your weekend has been outstanding!

Missing the long run

Saturday, December 26, 2009

Saturday is usually my day for a long run. Due to our rather cold and snowy weather, I will have to do something else today. Fortunately, I still have several months before the marathon. I don't want to risk an injury by running on slick roads. At my age it's better to live to run another day.

Hopefully, things are better where you are today, although I realize that many of you are in the midst of some rather extreme weather.

Have a great weekend!

No one is running or walking outside here either. It is still snowing--it is just amazing! It makes me appreciate the fact that my family was able to get out and come yesterday. Continue to have a great holiday week through the New Year.

A Rare Morning

Friday, December 25, 2009

Like many of you our family usually travels to see relatives during the Christmas holiday. While we will still take the time next week to visit family members in our hometown, we are experiencing something rather rare this year. We are staying home for Christmas.

It's been rather refreshing and relaxing. Due to the inclement weather in our part of the country, we are stuck in the house. So our youngest daughter is getting to play with some of the toys that she got for Christmas this morning rather than rushing off the relatives for dinner.

Hopefully, your Christmas day is a blessed one as you spend time with those you love. May God bless and encourage each of you on this special day.

We have gotten to do that the last few years and it was absolutely wonderful. This year wasn't bad, but still, I miss spending the day in my jammies.

May the blessing that has touched so many that began in that little manger in Bethlehem so long ago continue to be with you . . .

My daughter took my mom and I to her apt. last night before the storm hit and my youngest daughter is coming over today with my grandson. Not sure if her boyfried is coming too. Anyhow Jesus is the reason for the season and all church services were canceled last night because of the weather.

We also have that darn weather, so we are not seeing our kids today. But I'm glad they are home safe and sound. emoticon

Let it Snow...

Thursday, December 24, 2009

Look's like the snow is heading to mid-Mo. It probably won't be the storm that our forecasters have been yelling about, but it will probably be enough to give us a white Christmas and cause at least a few travel headaches.

Hopefully, this time of the year will enable many of us to slow down and focus upon what truly matters in life. It seems that much of my time keeps me focused in some areas that are significant but not as important as my relationship with my family. I truly enjoy this time of the year for a variety of reasons. The opportunity to slow down a bit is one of them.

So bring on the snow and disrupt our plans. It is often during times like these when memories are made that last a lifetime.

Merry Christmas to all.

I agree the snow is wonderful, but I have to say that where I am, in K.C., they've upgraded us to a blizzard. That never happens here! It may be that I won't get to see my family quite like I was hoping, but I've checked on them and they are all safe and warm so I can't complain. So, let it snow! BTW, thanks for commenting on mhy blog . . . it's going to be a great Christmas:)

Overcoming the Blah...

Wednesday, December 23, 2009

Today is just one of those days. Here in mid-mo it's rather gloomy outside. Thunderstorms have invaded our part of the country, which is extremely rare for this time of the year. With an impending snow event on our doorstep, we are preparing for a few days indoors during the Christmas holiday.

It was nice to get a run in this morning before the rain started. However, outdoor exercise may be a challenge over the next few days, with the exception of shoveling snow. Hopefully, we'll get to travel to see our extended families on Christmas day. However, if the weatherman is right, we may be hunkered down at home.

Either way, it will be a wonderful time for us to be together. Our daughters are such incredible blessings from the Lord, and they both enjoy this time of the year.

Hope that your Christmas is amazing and far exceeds your expectations.

Blessings upon you.
