A Rare Morning

Friday, December 25, 2009

Like many of you our family usually travels to see relatives during the Christmas holiday. While we will still take the time next week to visit family members in our hometown, we are experiencing something rather rare this year. We are staying home for Christmas.

It's been rather refreshing and relaxing. Due to the inclement weather in our part of the country, we are stuck in the house. So our youngest daughter is getting to play with some of the toys that she got for Christmas this morning rather than rushing off the relatives for dinner.

Hopefully, your Christmas day is a blessed one as you spend time with those you love. May God bless and encourage each of you on this special day.

We have gotten to do that the last few years and it was absolutely wonderful. This year wasn't bad, but still, I miss spending the day in my jammies.

May the blessing that has touched so many that began in that little manger in Bethlehem so long ago continue to be with you . . .

My daughter took my mom and I to her apt. last night before the storm hit and my youngest daughter is coming over today with my grandson. Not sure if her boyfried is coming too. Anyhow Jesus is the reason for the season and all church services were canceled last night because of the weather.

We also have that darn weather, so we are not seeing our kids today. But I'm glad they are home safe and sound. emoticon

Let it Snow...

Thursday, December 24, 2009

Look's like the snow is heading to mid-Mo. It probably won't be the storm that our forecasters have been yelling about, but it will probably be enough to give us a white Christmas and cause at least a few travel headaches.

Hopefully, this time of the year will enable many of us to slow down and focus upon what truly matters in life. It seems that much of my time keeps me focused in some areas that are significant but not as important as my relationship with my family. I truly enjoy this time of the year for a variety of reasons. The opportunity to slow down a bit is one of them.

So bring on the snow and disrupt our plans. It is often during times like these when memories are made that last a lifetime.

Merry Christmas to all.

I agree the snow is wonderful, but I have to say that where I am, in K.C., they've upgraded us to a blizzard. That never happens here! It may be that I won't get to see my family quite like I was hoping, but I've checked on them and they are all safe and warm so I can't complain. So, let it snow! BTW, thanks for commenting on mhy blog . . . it's going to be a great Christmas:)

Overcoming the Blah...

Wednesday, December 23, 2009

Today is just one of those days. Here in mid-mo it's rather gloomy outside. Thunderstorms have invaded our part of the country, which is extremely rare for this time of the year. With an impending snow event on our doorstep, we are preparing for a few days indoors during the Christmas holiday.

It was nice to get a run in this morning before the rain started. However, outdoor exercise may be a challenge over the next few days, with the exception of shoveling snow. Hopefully, we'll get to travel to see our extended families on Christmas day. However, if the weatherman is right, we may be hunkered down at home.

Either way, it will be a wonderful time for us to be together. Our daughters are such incredible blessings from the Lord, and they both enjoy this time of the year.

Hope that your Christmas is amazing and far exceeds your expectations.

Blessings upon you.

Ready for a break

Tuesday, December 22, 2009

Just one more day of work tomorrow, and then it's time to take some time away from the office and hang out with the family. Like many of you I am anxiously looking forward to the holidays and getting out of the office.

Hopefully, each of you are looking forward to the opportunity to slow down and get focused on that which matters most.

Have a Merry Christmas!

IF I WORKED IN AN OFFICE I'D FEEL LIKE THIS TOO. SOMETIMES I AM PLACED IN OUR OFFICE, AND I CAN'T WAIT TO GET OUT OF THERE. BOY, THE NEGATIVE TENSION IS BAD SOMETIMES. SEEMS PEOPLE WHO HAVE TO WORK CLOSE TOGETHER HAVE MORE STRIFE GOING ON. MAYBE I'M WRONG, BUT SURE SEEMS THAT WAY.LOL
I USUALLY AM OUT DRIVING SENIORS AROOUND GETTING PAID TO BE A BLESSING TO THEM AND I LOVE IT! I'VE DONE ALL SORTS OF THINGS IN MY LIFE AND THIS IS THE FIRST JOB I EVER COULD SAY,"I LOVE IT".MAY GOD GIVE YOU "REST" ON YOUR TIME OFF FROM THE HUSTLE AND BUSTLE OF WORK.
GOD BLESS YOU."DRU"

Running in the dark

Monday, December 21, 2009

Trying to keep on track with the running program that I have begun a few weeks ago, has pushed me more than I expected. I guess I had become comfortable with my 6-8 mile runs five to six days a week. Now I have shortened my week day runs, so that I can be ready for a long run on the weekend.

Staying steady with the program has required me to run at times that are not all that comfortable. This morning's run in the dark was particularly challenging because of the temperature outside and the possibility of ice on the roads where I run. Fortunately, the roads were basically dry and the only spots where ice might have been were clearly visible.

Also, running in the dark does wonders for a person's prayer life. What I am learning to enjoy most about the long runs is the time that I am able to spend in prayer.

What do you do to keep yourself focused when you are doing things that make you a little uneasy?

    Definitely a good prayer time!!
I also use this time to review my goals, re-establish my motivation and overall, just pat myself on the back ("I'm doing it").

I also like to take that time to listen to MY music vs. Spongebob, Dora or Diego songs......LOL.
