A Little Better

Tuesday, July 26, 2011

It seemed a little cooler when I was out for my run this morning, and it must have been since I saw several other folks out getting in their morning walks and runs as well. Several folks from our building are heading to Joplin, MO to help with some relief work in that part of our state. After last week's trip to Morehouse, I am going to have to stay home and get some work done. With conferences coming in a little over 2 weeks and a youth camp next week, there's just too much on my plate to be out of the office.

All that being said, I am excited about what the days ahead may hold. Hopefully, your week is going well.

Blessings

An Easier Week

Monday, July 25, 2011

It actually feels good to be heading into the office for a few days. This will give me a chance to catch up on some things before the crazy time starts in a couple of weeks. It seems that our youngest daughter is not fighting that summer cold junk.

Hopefully, she will be over it soon. Especially since her birthday is later this week. It's hard to believe how quickly time has passed since we sold our house and moved to our current location.

We are hopeful about a couple of job prospects that have opened up and that at least one of them will materialize into something viable soon.

Blessings.

The Lord's will will be done! It would be awesome if His will is one of those job prospects.

Running from the Cold

Sunday, July 24, 2011

Hopefully, your Sunday is going well. After some time in worship with the great folks at Open Door Baptist, we had a carry-in dinner and I headed home to spend some time with my girls who are fighting Summer colds. It seems like my wife got this started when she got sick last week.

Fortuantely, Olivia is young enough to show some resistance and is feeling better already. I am trying to avoid getting sick.

Have a great day!

Disappointing Captain

Saturday, July 23, 2011

Yesterday afternoon my wife and I were able to get out and enjoy some rare time alone as she went with me to the movies. She indulged me as I took her with me to see the new Captain America film at a local theater.

I won't say much to keep from spoiling the plot (not that there was much of one), but it was a major disappointment. While the special effects and some of the battle scenes were impressive, the writers chose to depart somewhat from the actual origins story of the original, and made it rather bland. The villian was not very scray or menacing. and the convuluted plot was difficult to follow.

Only hard-core Captain America fans will even remotely enjoy this one. So save your money and wait for it to come out on DVD or Netflix.

Have a great weekend.

Thanks for the advice. Many people have been working on me to go see this one and it just doesn't appeal to me.

Getting Out Early..

Friday, July 22, 2011

It is good to be back home for a few days. It was nice to get out for a run this morning for only the second time all week. Unfortunately, my wife and I had to get up rather early (5:30) to get the run in before our temps begin to swell.

Hopefully, your Friday is going well. Those of us in the Midwest are ready for this heatwave to break.

Blessings.

Glad both of you got your runs in. I guess I should feel good about the 78 degrees and 90% humidity forecast for Houston tomorrow morning for our 4 mile run. This is the beginning of our marathon training.

Good idea getting that in beforehand... Gianna has really been missing her evening walks and I ended up taking her for one at 8 pm last night but it was still stifling.
