Running in the Storm

Monday, June 27, 2011

I was ready to resign myself to some indoor exercise this morning, when my wife came downstairs, and said, "Aren't you going to run this morning? It looks like the rain is letting up." Of course, she was dressed in her running clothes and ready to head outside. How could I say "No" to her.

So we both headed out a little later than usual this morning. It rained on and off during the first part of the run, and then within about a half-mile of my usually turn-around point, I saw the lightening flash across the sky. That was my signal to head for home.

Needless to say, I made good time getting back, but not before the clouds cut loose with a torrent of rain as I approached our neighborhood. My wife fortunately made it home before me, and didn't get too soaked, but she got rained on enough to have a new story to tell.

Blessings.

My wife and I got rained on during last Thursday's walk/run. Like your run, it rained very little on the way out and let loose after we turned around. As soon as I got home I jumped in the car and went to pick her up, she only had about 2 blocks to go at that point. I always find running in the rain fun/challenging, but I don't like the lightning part.

That's cute-- I wish my husband worked out with me. We do play sports together though and that's a lot of fun :)

Heat Rising

Sunday, June 26, 2011

Looks like the heat has returned to Mid-Mo. After a cool morning, we have bumped up to the ninties with heat indexes near 100 this afternoon. Looks like some early morning runs are in store for this next week.

Hopefully, your week has started well.

I know it's so hot here in Missouri makes it hard to exercise but, I am thankful my gym is air conditioned. I hope you have a good week. emoticon

Bit of a Disappointment

Saturday, June 25, 2011

Cars 2 was more than a little disappointing. While it was visually impressive, it lacked the charm of the original with a contrived and overly complex story line for this type of movie. Our youngest daughter got bored about midway through the film. To me that's a sign that a movie geared towards her age group is not working.

Pixar has made a lot of great films for families and children. They're allowed to have a dud every now and then. I guess the spy motif was designed to entertain us adults, but it just seemed a bit out of reach for some of its intended audience.

Our youngest daughter made the most telling remark when she said, "Well, I guess we won't want to get that one when it comes out on DVD."

I was afraid of that. After the emotional roller coaster that was Toy Story 3, I don't see how they could keep up.

My wife just told me we'll be going to see Cars 2 anyway, she loves Mater.

Another Day!

Friday, June 24, 2011

I was able to enjoy a nice run on a beautiful morning here in Mid-Mo before heading into work this morning. Later today, our family is planning to head to the movies to see Cars 2. Our youngest is especially excited about this one. Days like this remind me so clearly of what really matters. I am exceedingly grateful to God for the life He has given me. Hopefully, if you have not already, you will come to the realization of how truly blessed you are.

Blessings.

Thursday

Thursday, June 23, 2011

After a productive meeting this morning it's time to catch up on some things at work and get some things done for the days ahead. Also, we are continuing to prayerfully seek God's direction with respect to what His next steps for us are in ministry.

Your prayers would be much appreciated.

Blessings.
