25 years

It was nice for Debbie and I to get to spend some time alone as we celebrated our 25 years together. We went out to eat at her favorite restaurant, Hu Hot, and spent a lot of time talking about the years gone by, as well as what might await us in the future.

It is a tremendous blessing to be able to be with someone for such a long time. We know each other intimately, and yet there are times when we can surprise each other. There are always things about her that I am able to learn.

We appreciate all of the well wishes that we received from friends and loved ones. Looks like year 26 is off to a good start.

With all that's been going on in our lives as a family, this extemely significant milestone almost got lost in the shuffle. Twenty-five years ago today, I married my soulmate and best friend. Thank you, Debbie, for showing me so much grace and love over the years. We've seen some interesting times together, and been blessed to experience some of the most wonderful joys that two people can imagine.

As I take a moment simply to reflect on the path that we have journeyed on together, I must say that I have been truly blessed. It is difficult for me to put into words the significance of this day and the depth of love that I share with the woman, whom God brought into my life. Even though these have been some difficult and uncertain days for our family, I am thankful that I can walk through them with my bride, my lover and my best friend.

Sobering Reality

We have less than ten days until we move into our rental house. The sobering reality of the move has begun to weigh on us. While we will miss owning our own home, we are looking forward to what God has in store. Hopefully, He will reveal His directions for us soon, so that we can make the necessary adjustments to follow wherever He leads.

Lot's of Energy

We enjoyed a great time of worship at Open Door this morning. Our crowd was larger than it had been since Easter. The students seemed to connect with what we were trying to accomplish in our Bible Study time before worship as well.

It is a great joy and privilege of mine to spend time with God's people and pastor, even if it is just for the interim time before they get a real one.

Early Wake-Up Call

Our daughter's dog, Fox, woke us up at about 4 a.m. this morning, so we didn't get too much sleep as we got out of bed at about 5 and begin setting things out for our moving sale. It's kind of bittersweet watching people cart off some things that were once valued by our daughters. However, as they grow up their desires change.

Hopefully, some other children will enjoy the toys and things that were purchased today. It looks like things are going well, and we are getting rid of a lot of stuff.
