Losing Weight

Thursday, February 16, 2012

Day four of my mini challenge and until now I have done really well. No cravings tonight so I am going to make it again tonight.
Weigh in last night and I lost 3.8 lbs so I still have to lose another 1.2 lbs. to lose to make up for the 5 lb gain two weeks ago. I'm really hoping to get that off this coming week. I don't know why this has to be such a battle but I'm not going to give up like I have so many times before. The past two years has been nothing but a huge struggle for me but I have stuck with it , even though it has seemed like one step ahead and two back and I am still 50 lbs lighter than when I started Weight Watchers three years ago.

Congrats on the 3.8! You are doing great!

Control The Snacking

Wednesday, February 15, 2012

Day three of my mini challenge and I have eaten only a planned snack or no snack at all after dinner. I will try my best to succeed. Now I wonder how long it will take for this to become a habit. I know I will always have to watch before the temptation will become less. I have several other mini goals in mind but I will deal with them one at a time. One small step at a time. After all I'm making a complete lifestyle change. It took years for the present lifestyle to develop so it will take a while to change it.
The treadmill welcomed me yesterday and I was able to increase my time by another minute. I felt really good after that and my legs feel a lot better as I guess the walking improves circulation.
Eating has been much better this week and have followed my food plan most of the time. Today is weigh in day for me. Hope the scale is kinder that it was last time.

Congratulations on making it to three days with only your planned snacks. This is one of my biggest problems also. It looks like you are really doing well! emoticon

Congrats on Day 3!! That's great. They say it takes about 3-4 weeks for something to become a habit or to cure a bad habit. But for however long you do this, it is still an accomplishment and a step closer to getting healthier. You're strong and you can do this, I believe in you, ;)

First Mini Goal

Tuesday, February 14, 2012

Another day and what will I accomplish today. I set a goal for this week. No unplanned eating after dinner. That is one of the worst times for me and not because I'm doing anything that is conducive to eating so I really can't figure out any certain thing that triggers the desire to eat. Perhaps I should try writing down what is going on before the binge starts. I'll keep reading blogs and posts to see if anyone else has solutions.
Another lovely day with lots of sunshine. I can't believe the weather we have had this winter. It really doesn't seem like winter but more like a cold fall. I'm sure we're going to pay for it somewhere along the line.
I tried out the spaghetti shaped Shirataki noodles tonight. To go with them I made stir fried vegetables and roasted pork tenderloin that I had in my freezer. It made quite a delicious dinner.
We still need prayers for my daughter in law as she seems to have one complication after another since her surgery. We are very concerned for her. It's a month tomorrow since the surgery. She was supposed to have the surgery and go home the next day. Needless to say that didn't happen. She spent nearly a week in hospital before going home and has had to go back two more times since that. emoticon

God Bless you daughter in law.
I find I eat out of boredom loneliess, and, habit in the evening. I make smoothies to help out... they taste like a treat and you can make them contain whatever else you need for the day, milk, fruit, spinach, protein powder....Yummy!

Healthy Cooking Challenge

Monday, February 13, 2012

A better day today. I was able to get back on the treadmill for the first time since my eye surgery. I'm going to work very hard at making it a habit. I hope that by the end of two weeks, I will have accomplished that. I know that I mustn't miss a day or else missing the next day will become easier. I know that regular exercise must become a habit and something you would miss if you didn't do it every day. I feel much better when I get the exercise.
Eating has been better but I must be aware of everything I put in my mouth and that I must track it as soon as I eat it. I tried shirataki noodles today and enjoyed the recipe that I made. I joined the healthy cooking challenge so tomorrow I will be doing my menu planning and preparing my shopping list. I think I will enjoy this challenge as
I love to try new recipes and by doing this I will be able to choose recipes that contain foods that are available in our small town. There should be no wondering what I'm going to eat if it's all written down and everything is available to do the cooking. emoticon emoticon

Good for you. One word of advice . . . don't try . . . just get on the treadmill! Once you start aim for whatever feels comfortable and try to add another minuter on the treadmill when you're ready. Build on our momemtum.

You can do it!

BTW, where did you find the shirataki noodles? I have been looking absolutely high and low for them in my area (live in a suburb of Milwaukee.) I hear good things about them.

I am a 64 year- old grandma, struggling to get on the treamill a few times a week. I just can't seem to push myself to do it, but once I'm there I find it to be very rewarding. Tracking my meals has been challenging as well, but keeps me aware of what I eat each day. I am most impressed by your enthusiasm for cooking, as I am not very creative. What the heck are shirataki noodles???? You must be a much more adventurous cook than I am, despite living in a small town. Good luck to you!

Back at it

Sunday, February 12, 2012

Another cold day but at least a little warmer than the past two days. The sun was shining so that made the day quite a bit nicer. It always seems to lift one's spirits when the day is bright.
I haven't done any blog entries for a few days. The last one was kind of a rant but somehow or another I lost it before I got it posted. I decided that meant it shouldn't be posted but I did feel better after I put my feelings into words even though no one else got to read them. emoticon

Have a great day,
