Walking fix (Am I a junkie?? )

Wednesday, October 13, 2010

Hey all ,

I hope all of you guys and cute gals had a nice afternoon. I know I did ! I watched a movie and then went for a nice hike. My problem came in when I was about to stop walking. You see I didn't want to STOP. I had walked 10.5 miles yesterday and after only around 5 miles today I was feeling like I had not done enough.
This coming from the guy that Mr. Webster met before coining the definition "Couch Potato".
I have been walking at least some for about a month now and can see the results in stamina and strength. It is amazing how great I feel from adding walking into my daily life !
If I am a junkie , I don't want no rehab!!! emoticon

Good for you - I don't have anywhere really to walk here, and the weather is usually hot so I don't really like walking for exercise. But when I'm in a place with gorgeous weather, I love doing it!

No, you're not a junkie - you're exercising and you're healthy. Walking is great exercise, and is what we were built to do. That, or jogging. Running not quite so much, but we are built to walk/jog for hours at a time.

Before running, I walked, a lot. 40-60 km (25-37 miles) per week, and at a 10-11 minute/km pace, that was a lot of time, but it was time well spent.

Keep on walking - it will do you good!

Oh, I love to walk. Can't wait til my knee is better and I can get going. This is such a nice time of year, at least where I live, to move it!

I know the feeling. Walking is my passion. I do it every chance I get. I used to walk 12 miles every day until I developed some issues with my feet. Now, 8 foot surgeries and orthotics later, I am back up to between 5-7 every day. Because I have little to no feeling from the balls of my feet to my toes, it's not really recommended that I go much farther than that. We walking junkies got to stick together though. If you're interested, I started my own team called "Crazy for Walking". I'm looking for more members! Enjoy your walks! emoticon

Gophers I have 4 of them and they are so hard to stop!!

No they are not turtles or prairie dogs like most think when they see the word gopher. They are people !!
My 2 young sons and daughter are the tiny gophers and my wife is the big gopher.
For years i had trained these lil guys n gals to cater to me . The sad thing was I didn't even notice it.
I lied I did but did not want to admit it.
I have them all trained soo very well that they try to do things for me now even though I don't want them too!
I have to stop them!!
I need help!!
No that is a joke I do need to keep motivated however. Do you realize how hard it is to not let someone put your cup in the sink ? Or refill a glass of water? Or grab you some socks ? Yea yea you say , "Chris it is only little things".

Is it ? Is it really?
I got big by letting or asking others to do things for me!

Think about it.

If i add up 10 walks to the kitchen and 2 to the bedroom a day and back how many calories is that? Not a lot ... but how about getting my heart moving a little bit ? Or may be recognizing the snack i just had the wife bring me and say hmm may be the apples would be a better choice then the bowl of ice cream.

If Gophers are running Rampant in your house let em lose into the wild !!

Post a reply to this blog with the number of gophers you would like to let free!!

I am letting 3 small gophers go today and one pretty sexy awesome nice lady gopher go about you?

My little girl was sad tonight I had my 4 cup measuring cup i use to eat my vege mix in ready to get up and return it to the kitchen. She reached out to take it into the kitchen and i had to explain to her why I needed to do it to lose weight then she was happier.
she has always been a happy helper emoticon

LOL - That's awesome that you are even aware that you have Gophers in your home and also that you are willing to take tiny steps to release them from their duties to you. It's a first step. I'm the gopher in my house and recently my hubby and I decided that it was time that he leaned less on me for I totally award you for taking the initiative and you're on the right track because - you'll get to move alittle more and sweat alittle more; burn alittle more calories doing the little things for yourself and making your family happier. That's a really good goal! emoticon emoticon

I have been trying to teach my grandchildren this very thing. Not about me but about each other. Well, me too but the opposite way. They get it honest from their mom and dad who always say get me this, get me that. Throw this away. They are beginning to understand that it's ok to ask for some things but the majority of what they want or anyone wants they should be able to get it for themself.

Good Luck in retraining your gophers.
