I love mini goals:)

I hit a mini goal today. It feels so good! These little successes make me feel excited and successful. I'm not trying to lose all my weight in 2 months anymore and I'm not looking at everything like it's "all or nothing". There was quite a long stretch where I didn't lose any weight but this time I did not get discouraged. I just kept making my healthy choices and eventually my body caught up. I went overboard a couple days and ate crazy - at the end of those days I was amazed at how many calories I had eaten. But I logged them anyway because I want to be able to go back and see that even though I chose not to follow my goals for one day doesn't mean I gave up. The next day I got right back on track. Failure is only when I decide to give up. I'm not perfect. I will live my life and make choices that are not always in my best interest. I'm human. I feel good about that! I don't have to even try to be perfect and that makes me feel just fine:) Today is a good day. I will continue with my mini-goals because I love this feeling!!!

Always take my SP app with me!

Today I went to lunch with my friend to an Asian restaurant. I forgot my phone at the office that has my SP app on it (where I check food calories). I started out very good with a huge salad and small amount of dressing. Then I figured I would have Generals Tso chicken, about the amount of a large chicken breast. I thought it would be a little high in calories, but I would cut back on dinner. WOW!! That chicken was probably more than I should have eaten all day. Huge lesson for me! If I don't know the calories of a food and I don't have my app...I should just not guess.

I didn't say that when I ate high calorie food everyday and sat on the couch. I didn't gain a pound every week. Sometimes I didn't gain a pound in a whole month! I gained my weight gradually over time and eventually I ended up at 184 lbs.

Well, I haven't lost a pound in a while. Surprisingly I'm not freaking out this time! I'm not getting angry because I have counted every calorie and exercised and the number on the scale didn't go down. I know my body will adjust gradually and eventually I will end up at 130lbs. I'm confident to follow my plan and let my body adjust to the positive, healthy changes I am making. Some weeks it won't show on the scale or a tape measure. On those weeks I envision wonderful changes going on inside my body...those fat cells are adjusting...those muscles are becoming firmer...my body organs are working better!! Every healthy choice I make - makes a difference!!!

I know reading all the articles, posts, blogs, messages, etc... on SP has made a difference in my attitude. I am embracing my journey and it feels good:)

How do I exercise with pain?

GRRR. I want to exercise. For the past 9 months I get severe leg cramps/spasms in both my calves. It's like charlie horses that don't go away for 30 minutes. When it hits I can't walk. It's usually about the time I get off work and it comes and goes...so ususally 5 minutes into an exercise I have to stop and sit. It feels like the muscle is exhausted and burns on the last rep of an exercise, but it stays that way. It will hurt so much I could cry. Then after about a half hour it calms down until the next episode. My doc has run blood tests and a test where they put blow up things all over my legs but can't seem to find the problem. I've tried shoe inserts & different shoes.

Right now I have the energy and want to exercise, but I'm on the couch in pain. Well the pain is not going to win. When the pain stops I'm going to exercise. Even if it's in 5 minute intervals.

I have been diagnosed with RA in the past but I got better and my joints usuallly only hurt in the morning. This pain is not in my joints it's in my muscles. I have forearm and wrist muscle pain too. Well hopefully this next trip to the doctor will find something. I think he might think I'm a nut because my appointments are always in the morning and my muscles don't cramp or spasm then.

It's starting to scare me a little. I don't know if it's another symptom but 3 mos ago the eye doctor told me I have the start of cataracts and in the past month I have squiggly zig-zag lines in my vision at times. Someone told me you get this before a migraine, but I never have migraines.
Anyway...it's frustrating when I want to burn off 500 calories and I have to deal with this.

    I hope it is npt a kind of artritis. We have a 16 year old boy in school that was having cramps in legs and hands and after many exams and doctors they have come to point that is types of artritis that is causing it. Not sure if they are dealing with it with pills or what, haven't talked to his mom for awhile.

    The dr did check out calcium, other minerals and all the vitamins in my bloodwork. Everything came back "normal". But I have started taking a very good mega vitamin from GNC just as a boost. :)

    Just take it easy and don't cause a serious injury !!

I get leg cramps but just time to time, I am so glad Saintbernard6 mentioned calcium intake I know my calcium gets a little high from time to time as well - I will have to pay attention to the timing.

    Have you had a calcium level done? I have a calcium intolerance so that when I get too much of it, I get horrible leg cramps that last for a long time. Just a thought......Elsie

Where is this extra skin gonna go?

It appears my stomach is not snapping back like it did when I was younger. Back then I would gain around 70-80lbs in pregancy but within a year it would be gone and my stomach would return to normal. Now I have folds of skin that are kinda "droopy". What the heck!!! I seriously am not liking the look of this and was not expecting it. I wonder if it eventually get firmer or am I just stuck with a baggy belly? I don't know. I am going to search the site to see if anyone has posted info on this subject. I hope there are exercises or vitamins to help... but It's skin so I'm really freaking out a little.
On the bright side I'd rather have extra skin than extra fat. (I try hard to always see the bright side, but this is really bothering me).

    I always get that sag, too, which is, honestly, one of the reasons I've been making excuses to put off the loss again. How bad will it be this time? Jeez. But I will do it anyway, and have more time on earth with my kids. That's my motivation. But I notice it in my face, too - my mom's jowls...........I want to cry, but I will keep going and try to always remember what is important in life. emoticon

    Losing the wieigh that I have, I am having that problem. I got myself some camishapers that holds it all in so I look better. As much as a tummy tuck would be nice, to expensive. I can live with that problem as long as healthy and full of energy.

    My extra tummy skin is still there as in my thighs as well and it's been about a year since I started maintenance. I just figure my heart would rather have the skin than the fat and try and let it go. Being almost 44 now, I just figure I can just be careful when clothes shopping.

    A woman at the gym said her loose skin was helped with Strength training, sit ups with weights, she used ab videos for five minutes a day and used Jergens skin firming cream, it's not perfect, but she has seen a difference. Also make sure you take a supplemnt with Omega 3s and one with Collagen, it helps skin elasticity. They sell them at Walgreens and GNC.

    Oh dear! I would imagine everyone's different, but mine never went back to pre-chubby. I weighed 94 lbs the first time I saw the obstetrician. I asked him how much weight I should gain and he laughed and said, "As much as you want." Having been clinically anorexic, I was surprised to have an appetite and took him at his word. I gained about 60 lbs. At my post-birthing checkup, I asked the doctor (not the same guy) when my tummy would quit looking like this and he said, " Like a camel's scrotum?" He refused to answer my question. I'm 60 now, and nothing I've done has changed my wobbly tummy skin. I considered a tummy tuck when I lost my big weight with SP, but it really seemed silly, so I just live with it. That was me, this is you. Hope you find an answer!

    I have a hard time with the thought of this and I think it has been one of the problems with my hard time losing weight not wanting flabby skin.

    Check out MAMACLOK on YouTube as she lots 70# and has kept it off for over 3 yrs now and she had a Tummy Tuck and Breast Lift. She looks great. She said she wasn't happy after her weight loss when she put on a new bra and only "filled it up half way on the bottom'. emoticon She did a LOT of exercise for her stomach but couldn't get rid of the flabby skin or the "pooch" and wanted it flat and the skin gone. Her surgery was $15,500 total for everything, but she put it on payments and she said it was well worth the money.
