See that ye refuse not Him that speaketh_.--HEB. xii. 25.

From the world of sin and noise
And hurry I withdraw;
For the small and inward voice
I wait with humble awe;
Silent am I now and still,
Dare not in Thy presence move;
To my waiting soul reveal
The secret of Thy love.
C. WESLEY

    My grandfather, who was a Methodist circuit rider preacher, was very inspired by the Wesleys, John and Charles -- enough so, that he changed his middle name to Wesley.
John Wesley was the preacher, and Charles Wesley was the hymn writer. I always find his hymns very inspiring!!!

Psalm 94:18-19
When I said, "My foot is slipping," your love, O Lord, supported me. When anxiety was great within me, your consolation brought joy to my soul.

While we are amazed at the vastness of God's reach and the awesome breadth of his power and the glorious sweep of his majesty, the incredible truth is his personal nearness to us. He chooses to know us and be actively involved in the trials and triumphs of each day with us. How will today, or tomorrow, be different because you are aware of his presence and companionship?

God who is near, please hear my heart. I am overwhelmed at your presence near me and within me. The comfort you bring when I am under siege, the strength you offer when I am weak, the courage you give when I am under attack, and the hope you instill when all seems hopeless -- these gifts of your presence are precious to me. Without your presence I would not know where to go or why I am here. Thank you for knowing me. I look forward to knowing you one day as you know me today. In Jesus name I pray. Amen.

Seekest thou great things for thyself? seek them not_.--JER. 14V5.
Oh! be little, be little; and then thou wilt be content with little; and
if thou feel, now and then, a check or a secret smiting,--in _that_ is
the Father's love; be not over-wise, nor over-eager, in thy own willing,
running, and desiring, and thou mayest feel it so; and by degrees come to
the knowledge of thy Guide, who will lead thee, step by step, in the
path of life, and teach thee to follow. Be still, and wait for light and
strength.

"And this same God who takes care of me will supply all your needs from his glorious riches, which have been given to us in Christ Jesus." Philippians 4:19 (NLT)

Self reliance. Isn't that the modern day dream? Actually, it has been that way since the beginning of time. And "faith" seems to go right along with it. We have all sorts of faith when things are going well. But is it faith in God or self reliance? The answer comes when money, health or relational situations start to falter. When things start to fall apart, do we? Does our "faith" go south and fret, worry and fear start to occupy our minds? If so, listen to what Paul is saying. "And this same God who takes care of me will supply all your needs from his glorious riches, which have been given to us in Christ Jesus." We have a God who loves to provide all our needs. He wants to lavish us with His loving provision. So today, when we feel threatened, when we consider bad news, when something comes up that goes straight to the pit of our stomach, let us stop and consider what Paul wrote, "God will supply all your needs from His glorious riches."

Father, forgive me when I become self reliant and forget that it You that provides everything I need. I need You Lord and I thank You that You will supply all my needs today from Your glorious riches. AMEN

Psalm 42:8
By day the Lord directs his love, at night his song is with me -- a prayer to the God of my life.

I have always loved music. To this day, songs help unlock the part of me that is most yielded to God. It helps me declare my love for him and my praise to him. But as the psalmist says, at night, especially on those nights when sleep is hard to come by, his song is with me.

Have a great day everyone.

    Ahhhh, I know what you mean. At night I listen to Christian music and a Bible tape. If I am having difficulty sleeping I play the music again!!!
